  1. Well, it's finally got to that stage. Notts County are bottom of the Football League. Macclesfield Town, managed by one-time Magpie Sol Campbell, put in a display that overshadowed the hosts at Meadow Lane and claimed a 2-1 win which saw them leapfrog Notts off the foot of League Two. Frankly, it's the same old story. An overall turgid display, the odd good moment following the equaliser where County looked as though they would go into the lead, only for shoddy defending to prove our downfall. Scott Wilson rattled home the opener in the first hald, making the most of plenty of space to apply a good finish past Ross Fitzsimons. Against the run of play, the second half brought a leveller for Neal Ardley's side when good hustling from Jon Stead lead to Keston Davies squaring for Kane Hemmings to drive home. Nine minutes from time, however, Wilson once again had the freedom of the area to sweep the ball into the bottom corner of the net nine minutes from time. Although the Silkmen saw a man sent off late on, the numerical advantage was chalked off as Davies was then shown a straight red card for firing the ball into an opposition player's face while on the ground. Long-suffering Notts fan ARLukomski, who's experienced far too much footballing misery for such a young man, continues to persevere with his superb vlogs - here's his latest entry. 2. Notts County will spend Christmas in the bottom two of League Two following their 4-0 hammering at Grimsby Town. The Mariners got off the mark after just over the three-minute mark, youngster Harry Clifton heading home on the rebound from Harry Cardwell's initial effort Notts then did enjoy a period of pressure but spurned their opportunities and before the break they fell further behind through Harry Davis, who rose highest to head home. Michael Jolley's side never looked back as Davis claimed his second and Grimsby's third, while Wes Thomas fired home on the volley to truly ruin the Black & White Army's Christmas. ARLukomski, the ever-loyal and long-suffering Notts County vlogger, has provided us with a great insight into the game at Blundell Park. 3. First and foremost. Tootle and Evina in for Hewitt and Jones. Hewitt isn't a right-back and Jones isn't a footballer. Play 4-4-2 with Thomas on one wing and either Osborne or Kellett on the other (clutching at straws). 2 up front. I don't think I have ever seen Notts play one up top and it work. We can't really do much to the squad until January
  4. To be honest we are waiting till January to get a better left back in. Both Jones and Evina aren't that great. I don't think Milsom could do a worse job than both of them
  5. Would maybe bring Evina in for Jones. Apart from that I would probably keep the same team. Davies to just sit in midfield and bulldoze people. Grimsby are unbeaten in 6 at home so they looked to have found a rhythm at Blundell Park despite struggling their earlier in the campaign
  6. Nathan Thomas isn't fit to lace Alex Rodman's boots
  7. Notts County have met Mansfield Town 52 times over the years in the Nottinghamshire derby. Notts: 18 Draw: 15 Mansfield: 19 Notts haven’t won a Nottinghamshire derby in 13 years (Notts and Mansfield didn’t play each other in the league for 7 years between 2008 and 2015) and have lost on their last four visits to Field Mill for a league game. Since the derby resumed from 2015-16 onwards, Mansfield are unbeaten against winning 4 times and drawing twice with an aggregate score of 14-3. Stats Mansfield are on a 12-game unbeaten run in League Two and have only lost once this season (a 2-1 home loss to Exeter). In that run, they have won 5 and drew 7. Notts are winless in their last eight league games but with Neal Ardley now in charge, they hope the ex-Dons boss will steady the ship. In the eight-game winless run, Notts have drawn 4 and lost 4, scoring 6 and conceding 15. Seasons in each division First Division (or Prem): 0 Second Division (or Champ): 1 Third Division (or League 1): 42 Fourth Division (or League 2): 32 Non-League: 5 History Mansfield were elected to the football league in 1931. Mansfield have the oldest professional football ground, currently in the football league. March 1st is known as “Amber day” by Mansfield fans in reference to the day John Radford bought Field Mill from despised owner Keith Haslam. The Stags were the first club to complete an entire season unbeaten at home in the 1950-51 season. Team News Jon Stead looks set to return to the starting line-up for Notts whilst fellow striker Kane Hemmings has trained this week. Enzio Boldewijn and Lewis Alessandra will be out for a while with injuries picked up in November. Matt Tootle is doubtful, and Ben Hall will be out long term after rolling his ankle earlier this week. Alex MacDonald and Krystian Pearce may miss the game whilst CJ Hamilton played 45 minutes on Tuesday in the 1-0 Checkatrade Trophy loss to Bury. David Mirfin has resumed training in the past few weeks. 8. Fully expecting Dan Jones to hit the Jones cold stunner on CJ Hamilton or whoever is playing on the right for Mansfield
  9. 2-0 Mansfield. Comfortable as cheese for them. We have no midfield, no right back, we can't defend crosses, we have no cohesion, we are 8 games without a win and they have lost once all season. I'm already preparing my disappointed face
  10. Another matchday, another disappointing result as Notts County let a one-goal lead slip en route to a 1-1 draw with Carlisle United. In Steve Chettle's last game in interim charge, the Magpies were once again poor, but held out in the first half to remain level with the travelling Cumbrians. Notts went on to take the lead just after the hour mark, however, as Noor Husin's effort was cleared off the line before Elliott Hewitt reacted to stab home. But is it much of a surprise that things then didn't pan out? Not really, given the continuing narrative of this season. With just six minutes of standard time, Carlisle loanee Jerry Yates headed home to salvage a point for the visitors. ARLukomski, a teenage Notts fan who's had to put up with enough more football-related grief to last a thousand lifetimes by supporting the Magpies, speaks about the game in his latest vlog. 11. Notts have met Carlisle 34 times in their history. Notts wins: 18 Draws: 4 Carlisle wins: 12 Notts are unbeaten in their last three against Carlisle, winning two and drawing one. This fixture rarely ends in a draw with only one game between the two sides in the last 15 meetings, ending in a draw. Stats Notts are winless in their last seven league games but they put in a better performance last time out, away at Morecambe. This will be Steve Chettle’s last game in caretaker charge before Neal Ardley takes full charge on Wednesday. Carlisle have fared a lot better away from home this season. They have lost six of their ten home games but have won five of their nine away games. Their last away game ended in a 4-0 win at Swindon. Seasons in each division First Division (or Prem): 1 Second Division (or Champ): 15 Third Division (or League 1): 41 Fourth Division (or League 2): 25 Non-League: 1 History Carlisle have reached the final of the Football League Trophy more times than any other club (6). They were elected to the Football League in 1928. In 1972, The Cumbrians beat Roma in the Anglo-Italian Cup. The Italian side would go on to win the tournament that year. They were top of the first division three games into the 1974-75 season. Team news Jon Stead and Kane Hemmings will return to the Notts squad after not being risked at the weekend against Morecambe. Enzio Boldewijn requires a knee scan to assess an injury he picked up on Saturday. Ben Hall is still recovering and is continuing taking up non-contact drills in training. Kelvin Etuhu returned from a hamstring injury at the weekend in Carlisle’s loss against Forest Green, coming on as 64th minute substitute. Defender Tom Parkes was not risked in Saturday’s game, also coming back from a hamstring injury. Carlisle skipper Danny Grainger missed The Cumbrians game on Saturday and may miss Tuesday’s clash with Notts, with a calf injury. 12. I don't know anymore. We aren't going to win a game until Ardley fully takes charge. If we can't beat Morecambe or Cheltenham then who can we beat
  13. Notts have met Morecambe 12 times in their history. Notts wins: 4 Draws: 3 Morecambe wins: 5 Before doing the double over Morecambe last season, Notts had a terrible record against The Shrimps, winning only two of the first ten meetings between the pair. Last seasons 4-1 win at the Globe Arena was Notts’ first win there. Four of the last seven meetings between the two have ended up finishing 4-1. (2009-10: Notts 4-1 Morecambe, 2015-16: Morecambe 4-1 Notts, 2016-17: Morecambe 4-1 Notts, 2017-18: Morecambe 1-4 Notts). Stats Morecambe have won their last two games in the league but suffered a 1-0 defeat to non-league Halifax in the FA Cup on Tuesday. Notts are winless in their last six in the league and have failed to score in their past three games in all competitions. Morecambe have had 3 managers in the last 24 years compared to Notts’ 27. They won their only FA Trophy in 1974 and are 5-time winners of the now defunct Lancashire Combination. Team News The Shrimps are without Andrew Fleming, Zak Mills, Barry Roche, James Sinclair, Florent Cuvelier and Lamin Jagne. Jordan Cranston will face a late fitness check. Jon Stead and Kane Hemmings have returned from injury, whilst Ben Hall is back in training but only taking part in non-contact drills. Lewis Alessandra is out for Notts with a knee injury. 14. 4 of the last 8 encounters have finished 4-1 which is quite incredible. Don't expect anything from this shambles at the minute. Nobody looks bothered, there is no system and it's only going to get worse until a new manager is appointed. 2-0 Morecambe
  15. Notts County's season continues to lurch from crisis to crisis with arguably the worst performance of the season - if not in recent years - against Cheltenham Town at Meadow Lane on Saturday. Following the impressive 4-2 win against Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Trophy, there was some scope for optimism as Steve Chettle took over as interim boss after Harry Kewell's sacking. But against the struggling Robins, it was anything but, as a dour first-half performance for both sides nevertheless saw the visitors lead at the break from Luke Varney's simple goal. The Notts defence, time and time again not fit for purpose, was at fault for all of the three goals shipped against Cheltenham, a performance that led to fans literally queuing to leave well before full time. You've got to feel sorry for ARLukomski, still a teenager and subject to this psychological torture from watching the Magpies perform as they're doing - then again, that seems to be the fate of all us Notts fans. Here is his latest vlog, as he declares Notts to be at crisis point in a detailed analysis prior to, during and after the game. 16. Second season in a row we've played Cheltenham on Matchday 18. Exeter began their run to the play-offs on this matchday in 2016-17 season. One can hope
  17. Hemmings and Stead both out. Definitely scoring 0
  18. Barnsley 5-0 Notts Moncur x2, Mowatt, Moore, Lindsay Expect nothing and will be totally embarrassed. Club is so far from anything at the minute. If Kewell wants to learn how to play passing football with a good balance I suggest he watch Daniel Stendel's side
  19. Notts County stunk out the whole of Meadow Lane on Tuesday with a dour performance against fellow League Two strugglers Oldham Athletic which was lucky to yield a point in a 0-0 draw. The visitors, who themselves are hardly impressing at the minute, weighed in with 19 efforts against Notts, six of which were on target, won nine corners and were overall dominant in the game. Indeed, County had Ross Fitzsimons to thank for keeping the Latics at bay, while Jamie Turley once again bailed his side out with a goalline clearance and a superb tackle on Ishmael Miller. At the end, the hosts could very well have clinched all three points at the death when Enzio Boldewijn hit the foot of the post, but in the end the result was a stalemate which does little for both sides. Pride of Nottingham vlogger ARLukomski could not contain his frustration after the game, and here is his response in video form. 20. Posted this yesterday about our starting x1. 4-4-2 Fitzsimons Tootle Ward Turley Evina Boldewijn Hewitt Milsom Alessandra Stead Dennis Bench: Pindroch, Ox, Bird, Patching, Thomas, Kellett, Hemmings
  21. Notts County wrapped up a miserable seven days with a third defeat on the trot, this time spurning a one-goal half-time lead against Swindon Town to eventually lose 2-1 at Meadow Lane. Last week, Bury thoroughly hammered the Magpies. On Tuesday, an undeserved red card for Jamie Turley led to MK Dons making the most of things and emerging victorious. But this time, Notts played impressively and had all the stats on their side, yet went on to lose anyway. Harry Kewell's side had a superb 45 minutes and deservedly took the lead six minutes before the break when Cedric Evina's cross into the box was guided in by Kane Hemmings with help of the woodwork. Prior to that the likes of Enzio Boldewijn, Matt Tootle and Lewis Alessandra all came close, and it looked as if Notts had a great platform upon which to build en route to victory. But things didn't go that way as Steven Alzate came off the bench to equalise for the Robins, before Matt Taylor's cross was diverted into his own net by Jamie Turley for a classic Notts-style "defeat-snatched-from-the-jaws-of-victory". Pride of Nottingham vlogger ARLukomski was at Meadow Lane to endure yet another afternoon of dashed hopes and final-whistle misery like the rest of us, and has provided us with yet another superb vlog of pre, mid and post-match thoughts. 22. Notts have met Milton Keynes 14 times over the years. Notts: 1 Draw: 3 MK: 10 Notts have an abysmal record against Milton Keynes winning only once in fourteen encounters against them. A 2-0 win on December 11th 2010 is their only victory. MK have won the last five encounters, doing the double over Notts the last two seasons the teams have met. Stats MK have won their last four games and haven't conceded in any of those fixtures either. They have only lost once this season and that was only in the 90th minute to Lincoln. Notts' five game unbeaten run came to a crashing climax on Saturday after capitulating at Bury and with The Mags record against MK, it looks set to be another defeat. Notts have played 16 games away from home this calendar year, winning 3, drawing 3 and losing 10, Season in each division Division 1 (or Prem): 0 Division 2 (or Champ): 1 Division 3 (or League 1): 11 Division 4 (or League 2): 2 History I think we all know about how Milton Keynes started. Many current Championship and Premier League players have either come through MK's academy or have had a stint there. This list includes Dele Alli, Sam Baldock, Jordan Spence and Shaun Williams. Former Notts managers Paul Ince and Martin Allen have both had spells in charge of MK. Team news MK have no new injury concerns and will welcome back several players to the squad. Conor McGrandles, Ryan Harley, Mathieu Baudry and Peter Pawlett. Notts are still without the suspended Rob Milsom who is serving the last game of his ban. Richard Duffy and Ben Hall are still injured. 24. Head to head Notts County have met Bury 117 times over the years, with the Magpies winning 43 of the encounters, drawing 28, and losing 46. Notts met Bury for the first time on November 24th, 1894 with County running out 2-1 victors. The last time the two teams met was in the 2012-13 season when Notts won 2-0 at Gigg Lane and 4-1 at Meadow Lane. Arguably the most famous meeting between the two is the 2-2 draw on May 6th, 2006 in the 2005-06 season when Notts scored two in the last five minutes to secure safety in League Two. Stats Bury are unbeaten in their last four (W1, D3) and have only lost once at home this season when Carlisle defeated The Shakers 1-0. Recent signing Nicky Maynard has scored three in his last two games. Notts are five games unbeaten (W3, D2) and have kept consecutive clean sheets on the road. Seasons in each division First Division (or Prem): 22 Second Division (or Champ): 39 Third Division (or League 1): 29 Fourth Division (or League 2): 23 History Their “Shakers” nickname was derived from a teamtalk given by manager JT Ingham in 1892. They are the only club currently in League Two, other than Notts, to win the FA Cup. Bury are 11-time winners of the Lancashire Senior Cup. Their current manager, Ryan Lowe, set the club record for consecutive goals scored with 10 goals scored in 9 games during the 2010-11 season. Team News Notts will still be without Rob Milsom, who is serving the second of his three-match ban. Ben Hall and Richard Duffy are still out injured with the former returning to Brighton a few weeks ago to have treatment. Bury’s only injury concern is Eoghan O’Connell who’s fitness will be checked before the game against Notts. 25. Notts County's dreadful start to the season now feels an age away. Three wins in a row and five games unbeaten now has the Magpies up in 17th place in the League Two table, four points clear of the bottom two, a superb turnaround given they were bottom of the table on just one point a month ago. The latest victory is also County's first win away from home this season as Macclesfield Town, themselves still struggling and currently at the foot of the league, were beaten 1-0 at Moss Rose. Late on in the game, Macclesfield centre-back Fiacre Kelleher gifted possession to Enzio Boldewijn, who bore down on goal, where keeper Kieran O'Hara committed a foul that yielded a penalty. The spot-kick still had to be put away but the experienced Jon Stead duly sent O'Hara the wrong way eight minutes from time for their first three-point haul on the road. Pride of Nottingham vlogger ARLukomski was in Cheshire to give his thoughts before, during and after the encounter.
