  1. Okay, with the signing of Bajner Notts have en-counted a modern day international sensation but who's been the biggest since you've been supporting Notts and what do you remember about it?

    Mine would be Sol Campbell.

I was working when he arrived at Harts to hold contract discussions, I won't go into that but I do remember seeing people from Meadow Lane at work eventually every day, especially Fridays and the weekend! There was no bigger than that. I learned from sharing things like this, hence why I don't get involved in rumours. I only report of third party ones! Too much hassle...

    What about you? #NoBajnerNoParty

PS. I've been busy keeping control of this outbreak!

  2. Ok, so ignoring the potential loophole part of this first article, we all know that Man City have fallen foul of the FFFP rules...

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-city/11346783/Frank-Lampards-controversial-move-to-Manchester-City-exposes-a-potential-FFP-loophole.html

Ok, so now is there a loophole or not? Is that deal dodgier than a 9 bob note?

Have Man City suddenly had an absolutely mega cash injection? Does this reporter have any sort of understanding of the clubs current situation?

  3. Which is it to be Mr Trew?

It's looking like we won't get those 50 points required to stay up with the current squad.

In my opinion this years squad is really awful, is very short termist and completely unbalanced. For that you have to blame the Manager.

So in my opinion it's now decision time. Should he stay or should he go?

If he stays there will be trouble unless the cheque book comes out in January

Or would it now be better to change direction and give monies to an experienced Manager?

  4. Who is PON that runs the Facebook site?

We tried to meet at the MK dons game but missed each other. Looking forward to a catchup, I'll be at the Chesterfield game.

    Regards Allen. You Pies!

  5. For all of you who are unable to figure out why the teletext weather service packed up a few years ago ( you can stop pressing the button now. Ceefax won't work......here's the weather report for this weekend's match.

    Cold.

Any snow still around should vanish magically when the temp reaches a balmy ( no not you Jezza. Sit down again. ) 4©

You'll still need the long johns and the flask of Bovril, unless of course you're a daft un who bought one of those seat warmers from the club shop.

(Seriously do they work? I would have thought it would have just liquefied the pigeon poo on the seat!!!)

Tune in next match for your up to date weather report.

All predictions come via the great institution called the BBC website so if they're wrong blame them!!!

  6. For me so far the stand out player has to be the irish lion Roy Carroll. I admit i was wrong bout this man but he is slowly becoming a notts county legend. He has brought experience to a defence that was shaky a voice of the back and a top stopper.

  7. An article from the Guardian on the merits or not of the drinking within sight of the pitch ban.

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/when-saturday-comes-blog/2014/dec/15/banning-football-fans-drinking-alcohol-unfair-rugby-cricket

Will we ever get situation that Rugby fans have? mixed stands, drinking, is football ready?

  8. Does anyone know if this is going to be released inline with most other clubs at the end of this current season or will it be in it's usual slot just before the start of next season?

  11. St Mirren: Yoann Arquin signs in time to face Ross County

<!--url{0}--> St Mirren have signed former Ross County striker Yoann Arquin until the end of the season.

And the 26-year-old will go straight into the squad for Saturday's Premiership visit to Dingwall as the relegation-threatened clubs meet.

"He will help us in the final third of the pitch with his link up play and also to stretch teams in behind," said caretaker manager Gary Teale.

"We are hoping that with his strengths he can add much needed goals."

The Frenchman scored six goals in 35 appearances for County, with two coming in 19 outings this term.

And he had been criticised by Staggies manager Jim McIntyre ahead of leaving when his contract expired on 2 January.

"I spoke with a number of people who I trust in football and they all gave me very positive feedback about the club and the fantastic facilities they have," Arquin told the St Mirren website.

"I am looking forward to getting started on Saturday and hopefully help the club start to move up the league table."

Teale, whose side dropped to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table on Saturday, need cover up front after another injury to captain Steven Thompson. releasing Ross Caldwell and allowing Adam Drury to return to Manchester City after a loan period.

Ryan Jennings, a 19-year-old striker with Wigan's development squad, has also been training with the Paisley side and could join on loan.
  12. Its Mrs. H's 60th this year and I am thinking of taking her to the Canary Islands, we have never flown before but were wondering about an all inclusive holiday somewhere quietish.

We aren't big on night life or anything like that, we just want a relaxing holiday near the beach where we can chill out and do nothing for 10 days or so.

Anyone got any recommendations or advice, which resort? Hotel? Holiday company? etc.

  13. The government are considering bringing in standard plain packaging for all cigarette brands.

This means that all cigarette packets will look the same and the brand name will be in very small type at the bottom of the pack.

They say that this will reduce deaths from smoking related diseases and stop children from starting the habit.

I don't smoke but I would be interested to hear what smokers think about it. Do you smoke? Will this make you think of stopping? Do you think it will stop kids starting the habit?

    Discuss.

  14. In the week that Notts sign a Hungarian forward, we should perhaps spare a thought for the death on Sunday of Jeno Buzánszky, the last of the Magical Magyars who won 6-3 at Wembley and 7-1 at the Nep in 1953 and 1954. If he's half as good as any of them...

Were they the best team never to win the World Cup? I can only think of the 1974 Oranje as a possible alternative.

  15. If you have any ideas on what questions you would like to feature in Meet the Fans, post them here.

  16. Welcome to Pride of Nottingham @Savo,

It's good to have you here, especially since you seem to fight your corner. Just be mindful we have young fans on our site and you will fit in, which I do hope you will continue to add your opinions because they do weigh up discussions when people vary on matters. See you around the community.

  17. Lots of business already done but anymore likely?

All the players in seem to be attacking style players, id like to see a quality CDM brought in anyone agree? Someone for the defence to pass out to instead of the hoofing which makes us look like a Sunday league side. The squads better than that and i think this could be the link we need.

    Your thoughts peeps..

  19. I don't read The Sun (honest) but I am told that they no longer have topless girls on page three. From last Friday breasts are covered up by swim wear or underwear.

Good thing or will you mourn the loss of the page 3 topless girls?

  21. AFC Telford: Loanee Kyle Dixon's U-turn upsets boss Steve Kittrick.

<!--url{0}--> AFC Telford United loan player Kyle Dixon has upset manager Steve Kittrick by telling him that he wants to leave - barely a fortnight after coming in.

The 20-year-old defender was scheduled to spend the rest of the season at the Bucks Head following his arrival on loan from Notts County on 2 January.

But he now wants to return to Conference North side Boston United, where he had previously been on loan.

"He's done himself a lot of harm with Notts County and us," said Kittrick.

Dixon has made two second-half substitute appearances since coming to Telford, but he had clearly arrived expecting to be part of the starting line-up.

"He rang me on Sunday and told me that because he's not playing he wants to go back to Boston," Kittrick told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"Apparently they can't recall him, as he's signed with us on a long-term loan and he can't go back, so I'm afraid he's going to be sat in the stands unless something miraculous happens.

"That's what you've got to manage sometimes. Immaturity in a player. To be fair to the kid, he's killed himself because he signed for us and has to stay with us. I don't want a player that doesn't want to be at Telford."

Dixon was left out of the squad by Kittrick for Tuesday night's twice-postponed 4-0 FA Trophy second-round defeat at Fylde.

Just three days after winning at Wrexham by the same 4-0 scoreline, Telford put in a feeble performance in wintry Lancashire as Kittrick's side lost for the first time in six games since he took charge on 22 December.

"As good as we were against Wrexham on Saturday, we were as poor here," added Kittrick. "People haven't wanted to put a foot in.

"Psychologically, some of them have turned up and thought, after Wrexham, we'll beat these easy. But they got about us in the first 10 minutes and there was only one winner."

This isn't good to read, however I feel there may be more to it. That said, It's not professional to expect to walk straight into the squad, without proving himself. No matter what he should keep his head down and discuss it with Notts rather than come straight out, he needs to adjust and I think this can be labelled as 'inexperience'.

    Thoughts?

  22. Hi all

If you haven't had the chance please go onto Notts county's official site and listen or read the interview with 'Greg Abbott about the squad, current, future and transfer funds. This interview is an eye opener. Why? I have made mention previously that come December the last few years we hit a wall because we have a few loan players and often we lose them at least for a few weeks. Greg talks about this and what Shaun and he have spoken to the Trew's about this problem. He also mentions that they knew this last month or so would be hard because top teams with top budgets and u shaving our loan players going back to parent clubs. I mention this because this is exactly what I believed was happening. Did two seasons a go with Callum and Jack and did again this season. Well listening Greg and Shaun want to fix this problem.

The interview does give us a brief insight into exactly their long term plans and what the club needs to do to alleviate this problem. The interview also talks about where these players come from. For me one open honest interview Very good Greg very good Notts.

If you are on Notts county forum can you tell them Fabian Spiess your on loan goalkeeper to Bristol Rovers is getting very good reviews all round apart from talent that is for a young chap very brave as well.He was good last night on the BT televised Match where rovers came from behind twice to Win a 3/2 thriller against Gateshead...with both rovers keepers out badly injured County did Rovers a big favour loaning young Fabian

It's good to hear a first hand account of Fabian's progress, I'm glad he is doing well.
