February, 3rd 2023: Pride of Nottingham Announcement

The Pride of Nottingham website has been updated. With this some of the features and site itself will be a bit querky until I can make sure they're in-keeping with these changes.

Our homepage for example needs some care - don't worry about this.

Once I can fix the important areas of the site, I will focus on adding content again to the site and returning everything to as it was. I would ask that members bear with me. Whilst asking team members to assist and, check out the team updates as a way to help PON move forward.

These are the major things I need to mention:

Please don't report any issues yet, as I will be sweeping the site and then asking folks to assist with what I miss or may not have seen.

Also, thanks to @super_ram for helping with the cost of the upgrade which was desperately needed.  

Some of the Dashboard widgets are vastly broken and will need extensive time to fix.
A lot of the outdated things may need to be dropped from use, or slowly upgraded when costs permit.

Emoji issue ✔  [where they would display properly or seem to have a ghost icon alongside working ones]

In my weekly chores, I have made a note to prioritise certain areas, such as the coach and managers pages, to ensure they are updated as soon as possible.

This will be used for clean up; just in case anyone replies.

What features or parts of the site are missing that you consider to be key?

I could prioritize things that I feel make PON better, but that wouldn't exactly benefit everyone. I really could do with some feedback, as it could be months before certain parts are updated properly. I'm hoping most is just outdated PHP, which would need to be upgraded to 8.0 and higher.

i would like to see the edit and report button return it useful when posting off my phone.

i like the advanced activity stream and the dashboard, but i do browse through pages anyway. i think those would be useful for members who have less time or just want to post quickly without surfing pon a lot.

Which now works fully.

Facebook connect now works again. Existing users will need to delete their established connection with Facebook in order to get it working. Unfortunately, this doesn't change the Android/IOS app as they have permanently removed the function for web view based browsers.

Only full business based browsers such as Chrome are allowed this function.

However, the quick and easy connect when using one of these browsers on desktop/tablet/phone will now work.

I've made some changes to the Dashboard page. If you visit from your mobile it might not appear to be all that different. However, from a desktop there are subtle changes. The main content block currently doesn't show in the responsive mode - this is being investigated.

I'd comfortably say we're almost as good as we were before the upgrade bar a few broken things.

We are experiencing some technical issues. I only apologise for the downtime which happened for the most part of today. Unfortunately, it might occur as things are being investigated.

PON Default, PON Dark and PON Lightweight themes have all had some work to fix things.

All are suitable to be used for the long term now.

If members prefer a more basic look, then the lightweight theme is highly recommended.

Our store has been fixed. Soon some new prints will be added - along with some t-shirts and hoodies.

Furhter work is under-going with the Dashboard page, with the quick reply and content block seen on desktops being made available to use on mobiles. Some minor site navigation alterations are planned, along with further outdated plugins to be updated.

The mobile app should also work as intended.
