I’ve been chatting with @super_ram on another topic about quiz shows so I thought I’d open up the discussion on its own thread. Do you watch quiz shows? What’s your favourite?

We regularly watch Pointless which is different in that you have to come up with an obscure answer. We also like Tipping Point on channel 4.

Whats your favourite?

I like pointless when it's a subject I'm familiar with so I can join in with.Tipping point is also enjoyable but I'm convinced there is someone inside the machine with a magnet causing the counter to ride or to end up disadvantageously.:rollonfloorlaughing:

There are a lot of Quiz shows I like to watch, the 2 above,Who wants to be a millionaire ,The Chase and loads more but one from a while back that I i liked was Wipeout with Paul Daniels and then Bob Monkhouse.

I watched A Question of sport  a lot when I was younger,too

You won’t believe this @super_ram but we’ve said exactly the same thing. We often comment “the man with the magnet is at it again” sometimes the counter swerves alarmingly out of its path a magnet is the only answer.

The counter often drops and then moves unnaturally. I've seen the counter settle then suddenly slide slightly but quickly

It was 3, 2, 1 with Ted Rodgers. 1978 to 1988. Dusty Bin was star of the show.

Oh yes I used to like that, I used to try and work out the clues but you could usually make the clue fit both the bin and the star prize.

Classic "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" is my favourite. I prefer game shows over quiz-based ones; I can't stand "The Chase." The Chasers may have become less direct and more focused on themselves. It just doesn't appeal to me and reminds me of "Eggheads," which was a good show, but with people you can't stand.

I must admit I can’t remember Quizball I can remember other quiz shows from the 60s such as Take Your Pick with Michael Miles.

We renamed Eggheads to “Smugheads” those eggheads are so far up themselves.

One vs 100 and the Colour of Money.

Tenable is alright, but I think the standard these days isn't quite high. Warwick Davis elevates a mediocre idea to a whole new level. I would say my favourite quiz show of all-time would be something I rushed home from school to watch at dinner time. Bob Monkhouse and Wipeout.

Good question! I enjoy Pointless. And Fridays didn't feel complete without Anne Robinson's Weakest Link.

Alas, I live in Germany now, but luckily for me it means that Who Wants To Be a Millionaire in its original format is still a thing. Apart from that, quiz shows are usually four-hour extravaganzas hosted by a man in a frilly chequered suit who strokes female contestants' knees.

I remember it @Robbie I mentioned it earlier in the thread.

I used to like the yes/no interlude with Bob Danvers-Walker on the gong.

Cash Cab and Beat Shazam are two of my favourites. I haven't been in the UK for some time, but I remember Mastermind.
