What line up should Stuart Maynard go for?

His first 11 and his first 7 substitutes, and they play to WIN

No more pussyfooting around.

Maynard should know who those players are by now.

A clean sheet is imperative.

This is a good summary of the present situation by Carlton Pie.

Does anyone agree with it?

@Chris spent quite a lot of time highlighting this back when nobody could say anything deemed negative towards jodi jones but its the truth. i think jj is better at defending compared to aaron nemane but its more about whoever plays at wing back should try to do the basics. try to keep in front of the ball, try to block crosses, avoid tugging on shirts, keep defensive position etc.

i would like to see us start with a squad that would make us happy to face tranmere, it should be our strongest squad possible.

If we lose, we lose. It’s as simple as that. Whatever team plays, I just hope they give a good account of themselves. Going into the game, I wouldn’t mind seeing a strong lineup on paper, but even that means little. It’s how players perform as a team and individually. So, hopefully, the performance is promising, and we can then focus on what really matters.

@Robbie

It True what Carlton Pie says neither Jodi Jones Nor Aaron Nemane are Not Defenders. Aaron is No Bigger than a Pile of Coppers so he ain't gonna out jump a Six Foot Plus Striker. Jodi is only slightly built and Can't Out Muscle a Big Centre Forward. The Lad is Built for Speed and Trickery . There should be Enough Defenders to Do that job so Neither Jodi or Aaron need to come back and Defend.

But the "Model" System ( How I've Grown To Hate That Word) must be played. Tippy Tappy build Up From The Back. Get to the Opponents 18 yard Box then pass it all the way back to the Notts Keeper. When will Stuart Maynard realize the System's Wrong? When he loses his Job. When will Richard Montague realize the System's wrong? When Notts are fighting a Relegation Battle. Then Again Montague Strikes Me As Someone Who Thinks He Can Do No Wrong.

Until a Coach comes in (or Stuart Maynard sees the Light) and Stands Up and Says No the Magpies Aren't Playing This Way and things change it would seem our Favourite Team are going to be in for a Season of Struggle. I'm More Than Happy To Be Proven Wrong.

@Wheelbarrow repair man

I agree. I don't understand why Notts can't play a flat back four as in olden days with two traditional wingers supplying to he crosses for Jatta.

I just think a 4,3,3 or a 4,5,2 would work for Notts. Just play a traditional English game, using all different tactics to get the ball upfield.

Just get the ball in the box as quickly as possible.

Strange isn't it, You know how Notts should Play, I know how Notts should Play. So If Stuart Maynard gets the sack, You Apply for the Head Coach Position and I'll Be Your Assistant, What Do You Reckon?😂

The current system allows us to have a more presence-focused movement across the pitch. It's partly why we have such a large amount of possession, but there's much that we could do better. Being able to adapt to different formations is useful, but I am not sure if we could be successful going back to a traditional 442.

This would be my line-up.

Bass, Platt, Bedeau, McDonald, Robertson, Edwards, Crawley, Jones, Nemane, Scott and Jatta.

McDonald and Edwards could be replaced, but I think this would be our strongest team, provided all are fit. I don't think Palmer would feature.

@Chris it's a good side that you have posted there. I just worry about getting exposed down the flanks.

It is a fascinating conundrum for Maynard to solve where Nemane and Jones are concerned.

They are both clearly lacking in the defensive area but are so good going forward & create many chances, as well as scoring themselves.

I do believe that this season Stuart has to use his squad to the full and select his team, shape and tactics according to who the opposition is.

Notts have got to aim at only conceding between 50 to 55 goals this season as a maximum, if they are to challenge for promotion.

This means Notts will have to be much more defensive minded this season compared to the season just gone.

That could mean either Nemane or Jones on the subs bench on occasions.

The Notts side to face Peterborough in the first half.

Looks like Stuart is putting out a strong side to begin with.
