There is absolutely no loyalty in football nowadays. Mark took Coventry from league 2 to the championship & just missed out on getting promoted to the Premier League.

An FA Cup Semi Final too where Coventry were robbed of a Final place.

Coventry are currently in 17th place, just 7 points from a playoff place.

I don't think that this is a wise decision by Coventry.

Somehow, I don't think that Mark Robins will be out of a job for very long 

I'm sure he will get lots of job offers that he will be able to pick from.

What Coventry have lost will be another Club's big gain.

But as You say @Robbie I Think There's More To This Than Meets The Eye. The Coventry Owners have  Gone to the Regular Excuse of the Team is Struggling. Without Giving Robins the Chance to Turn Things Around.

@Wheelbarrow repair man as you said, the usual excuse. Let's be honest, a home grown manager is ok for the EFL, but as soon as the PL comes into site, teams tend to look for managers from abroad, which some believe are a step up.

I'm not saying this is the case here, & there are some very good foreign managers about, but I can't think of too many home grown, or foreign managers that have a better record than Robins over the last seven years, taking a team from Tier 4 to almost Tier 1 last season.

For me that record in itself demonstrates terrific coaching, team building & management qualities, something we both have been talking about in other threads.

Yes Absolutely @Robbie, Robins is what you can call a Real Coach and his Achievements over the Past few seasons have been Nothing Short of Phenomenal. He Looked as if he may have turned things round winning 2 of his Last 3 Matches. Reading Comments from Coventry Fans it Seems Robins had a Falling Out with the Coventry Owner Doug King regarding a Certain player and Like any Childish Brat Owner King Spat his Dummy Out and Sacked the Guy, because of his Bruised Ego.

The new owner got control at the start of 2023 so Robins did most of his good work before the new owner arrived on the scene.

Don't get me wrong, the owner has pumped lots of money into Coventry & they are on a much better financial footing, however I think he's made a big mistake doing this, a quarter of the way through a season.

How could that appointment possibly be better than the manager they have dismissed ?

The trouble nowadays is that owners go for high profile (in their opinion) managers, & most of these appointments don't succeed.

I do wish him luck for Coventry's sake.

Talk about a downgrade. He'll be gone before the season is over. Coventry have an ambitious new owner who might have wanted his own man to take them the next step, but this could really backfire on them.

Frank Lampard only succeeded at Derby County at a point where their chairman was spending money, and wanting to buy young Premier League talent as a way to force themselves back into the Premier League. Mel Morris, seemed to start off with good intentions but quickly seemed to enjoy rubbing shoulders with the bigger players/clubs. He reminds me of Alan Hardy to some extent. Although, one I would say is Temu and the other Wish.com (Morris/Hardly).

Lampard had good foundations at Derby, an ambitious club, and he managed to use his connections to bring in good players from Chelsea on loan.

Jumping to Chelsea was the wrong decision, and that has impacted his career ever since. Everton seemed a sillier decision considering how they had dropped off since selling players like James Rodríguez, and the downfall since it is largely due to Lampard being the wrong appointment.

I can't see him succeeding at Coventry City, not even if he has his uncle Harry Rednapp on speed dial.

I don't have any sympathy for him, he seems to choose clubs based on how desperate he is and how big of a club they are. He doesn't seem interested in working at a level where he could truly learn and improve over time. Being a good player doesn't make you a great manager. To some extent, I feel the same way about Steven Gerrard.
