Macca transfer listed

I was listening to Paul on the Magpie Circle podcast with Mark Stallard and he says McCauley Langstaff has been transfer listed.

I wonder if Millwall are still paying instalments, could we buy him back? I guess his wages might be a stumbling block. However if Didzy doesn’t re-sign I guess that would free up some funds. If it were possible I’d take him back without doubt.

Thoughts?

I don't think he'll be coming back as a player, I think a League One team might be more inclined to offer him more suitable wages. We had this last year, when the rumour mill started suggesting he would return.

One day, he might but I think we won't see him rejoin us. Two reasons, fee and salary.

There's talk of David McGoldrick rejecting his deal due to bring offered lower wages. As good as he was, I hope Notts did because he came here saying it wasn't about the money and how he didn't want to be the club's highest earner.

Still I don't believe either, despite knowing the offer had been made. I'm of the understanding both parties were happy. Which wouldn't leave much room for Macaulay Langstaff without him dropping wages. The Β£7,500 being mentioned by the FLW is from a site which guesses. He's on more than that, and at least twice what we paid Didzy last season.

I'd 100% have him back but I agree with @ChrisΒ I don't think Macca returning is that likely. Like anyone he will try and get the best deal available and it's not going to be coming from us. Given he's signed a long-term contract, I think in terms of finances he'd be quite happy to stay at Millwall, but go out on loan.

I think the best we could hope for is a loan deal where we only pay a portion of his wages, but I'm sure they'd be League 1 clubs in the queue a head of us.

I don't think the owners will have him back purely because of the cost to the Club. The Club at this point has to pay it's way.

The owners are more likely to be looking at strikers from the non league again.

I think the same thinking will decide where the new Head Coach will come from too.

Prepare for some players to be sold off for profit too. Jatta, Platt & Bedeau, are 3 of Notts most valuable players that are sure to be on other Club's lists.

Honestly, the board would probably be advising the recruitment to focus on younger talent. We'd all love Macaulay Langstaff back, hopefully one day we will but it would be good to find someone who has pace, height, able to hold up the ball and can finish. Ideally 22-25, but strikers that are good are few and far between. Still, there's every chance we could develop or get the best out of the right talent.

Seriously though, I doubt it'll happen as he'll be out of our price range financially. We'd have stood a greater chance of getting him in on loan, but transfer listing him makes this less likely.Β

maybe with david mcgoldrick not reversing, notts might try to land macaulay langstaff on loan? a good spell by returning to us, could make it easier for millwall to recoup some if their fee and hes not sitting on the bench doing nothing. i know it seems unlikely, but you can never say for sure what could happen in football.
