Communication with Supporters

I think many feel the club could improve in their communication with supporters on football related matters. It seems as soon as you open the official website you are instantly hit with commercial offers. Most supporters appreciate the importance of raising funds for the club, but it would be nice if that were balanced out with more regular football related information. Maybe with the appointment of a new D of F, his secretary or some one could produce regular updates. For example, without giving too much detail updates during the transfer window. latest on injuries etc. Sometimes the long periods of silence can get fans worried and then rumours surface. Good communication is the life blood of any good club.

I think that communication between Club and the fan base is generally poor & needs to improve.

Regular news about the B team, Academy & the Women's team is even poorer than the first team news.

There are lots of things happening at a football club on a daily basis. I know it's not possible to report daily, but in the modern era we do have the Msmedia, Social Media: X, Facebook, What's App, & Blue Sky etc where the club can keep the fans informed.

It's the same when reporting on the matches themselves. I've seen Non league teams have better reporting of matches minute by minute.

I'd like to see a Person or persons responsible for the Clubs communication to be appointed, who could handle all those outlets I've just mentioned.

A Club can foster good relations with it's fanbase by having good, regular communication, regarding it's off field & onfield operations.

@McPie. Excellent Point. It seems to me that ever since the Tragic Passing of former C.E.O Jason Turner, Club communication with the Fan Base has fallen by the wayside. It's very Rare these days I bother with the official Web Site. As you say the lack of any announcements leaves the the Club wide open to Rumours and if those Rumours gain any traction, then it's bound to cause unrest with the Fans. A simple update either every Fortnight or month on things such has injuries or the Academy.

I'll give you an Example. When Jodi was injured the other season, no announcement about the seriousness of his injury was forthcoming, and many members on this site put forward their speculations. Jodi was Ok it was just a knock, he'll be back after a couple of missed matches. I put forward a Rumour I'd heard. Jodi was seen hobbling around on Crutches and he'd broken his shin and he would out for around 3 months. Which turned out to be True. However it took the Club weeks to confirm the Truth about Jodi's injury and the length of time, he would be out. What was the point of Holding back that Information? If the Fans had have known earlier there would have been understanding instead of Rumoured Speculation. Another player's injury news hasn't been confirmed (though I may have missed it) is the injury to Will Jarvis, that being Will had Broken His Arm. As he? If so how long will he be out for?

There was a time when Notts put out video's of injured players talking about their injuries and their recovery rate, the Fans also saw film of Players going on bonding courses, and some behind the scenes footage. This was all available on the Notts You Tube Channel, now if you want to listen to the Head Coaches or Players post match interviews, you have to go, onto the Club's website, and they want to know your location , why? Another invasion into Fans/Peoples Privacy. It's Not Much To Ask What's Happening At The Lane, And Get Regular Updates Is It?

Good points there @Wheelbarrow repair man The communication has gone down hill since Jason's passing. But it didn't have to be this way.

For me, effective communication by a football club has to be a priority. Public relations should always be important to a football club.

It's not just the effectiveness of the communication, good communication can also have a big spin off for the club by increasing it's fanbase at home & abroad.

Good communication can be a money spinner too.

Just a point on that, if you don’t want to give your location just click on “don’t allow” then it’s not an invasion of your privacy.

I do click the don't allow button @Fan of Big Tone , what comes across to me why is the button needed, and what happens when you do inform the Club of your location? Are you flooded with advertisements from the Club's Website? Or useless information you don't need or want to know? It must be something otherwise there's no point of the Button.

It’s a good question @Wheelbarrow repair man and it’s one I’ve never worried about, I just click don’t allow.

I did a search, this is what I found.

Websites ask for your location to enhance the user experience by providing relevant local content, services, and search results; to offer personalized advertising by showing targeted ads for your area; for security purposes, such as detecting suspicious login attempts; and for demographic data to understand their audience better.

Does that make you feel any better or worse? 🤣

its been said a few times where the club could better treat supporters and keep information coming out, i think the media team does do a good job in most areas but at the same time they seem to miss some of the obvious things which we as fans would care about. i also dont like how certain supporters tend to be treated better, it does not matter if you fly over from italy. why does this mean the support is any more valid from those who travel to games more frequently? i am not against the italian magpies, but i dont like how they get special treatment.

no supporter or group should be given special privileges over others, as its not the way to treat fans.

@Fan of Big Tone . In the words of the Great Spike Milligan, It's all Rather Confusing Really. But Thanks Appreciate You taking the Time to look up and Post your Findings.

This has come up a few times, and I think the club could be clearer with its communication. From what I can tell, there are only three people in the media team. I’m not sure what the person filming goals in portrait mode does exactly. One seems to focus on video content, and Nick appears to be responsible for all the written work.

It might help if they added another writer to the team. That way, the site could offer more updates and be more informative for fans.

Maybe the issue is planning. The old media team under Jamie Dixon felt much more focused on the fans and what they wanted to see.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

On communication, I had written to Jason Turner several times over the years but not once got a reply or even acknowledgment.

He kept his Twitter profile locked too.

He was an excellent administrator but those updates I presume, were personally made only after a nudge from the Bros?

I would rather the money be spent on the squad rather than another public relations person.

However I do think the club could use help from retired Notts fans out there!
