It is sad to see him go. He will always be remembered as being a key figure in us returning to the football league, then getting promoted to League One. He is a Notts County icon and I wish him well in his new career path.

Jodie will always be remembered with fondness by Notts fans, he’s been a great player for us and has helped us to move up the divisions.

However he’s left the club and is no longer a Notts County player so we move on.

All true @Robbie. But now it's done, I'm even more pissed off about it. The club will be 'misaligned' with a part of the fanbase on this, and I think Jodi Jones himself.

As I, and others said, on the other Jodi Jones thread, I want to hear JJ's side of the story.

Data cannot thrill you or make you jump out of your seat. Nobody covered themselves with more glory spanning the two promotions than Jodi Jones...As Danny Blanchflower said of football: "The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom". IMO, the Bros and Recruitment have a missing piece here.

This is one that I don't think we have to wait to see what happens at Notts and Bromley. He should have been offered a longer/improved contract to reward his exploits. God knows we've thrown a lot of money at a lot of others. Apparently he wasn't asking for all that much. Or maybe the Head Coach was influential in this too. I hope Jodi speaks up a bit about his 3.5 years, achievements, and the way it ended.

Sorry @theAnticlough but have to disagree. Great servant, great achievements but they are trying to build a team to challenge for the next step up in two years time. JJ is sadly passed his prime and the physical demands on a frail body won't stand up to the pressures.

Look at the energy of this year's recruits. Staggering.

Will remember him fondly but i do believe it is the right time for him and for the club.

Wish him all the best foe the future.

It'll be interesting to see how far energy takes us, or lasts, and whether we'll be rueing the loss of skill and creativity that's just left the club, in the months ahead.

I'm not bitter, he's helped us with two promotions and we got the best out of him. I just wished the circumstances were different, we obviously don't know if he is injured or not. I just think he could have been more involved in the pre-season, and left with us all wishing him the best.

i agree with chris, the absence just makes it feel like he could have left with all our blessings if things had gone better. i think we know hes a good player, but hes not always the best. i wished we could have kept him but if the money bromley paid were good then it does make sense. he came for free, and we are ambitious. jodi also seems to thrive as a clubs star player, something which in truth was decreasing here.

on his day hes a world beater and bromley should be better with him, i do wish him well and i am thankful for the memories.

Glad it's sorted and without any acrimony (public at least) from Jodi, Pato or the owners. The fans at Donny last night seemed to give the team and staff a really good reception at the end which for some reason felt especially great to see.

At the start of the season I was hoping that Bromley had booked one of the relegation places leaving only 3 up for the battle.

Now I hope they stay up , just.

Would hate to see JJ back in league 2 to end his career.

Jodi has been an outstanding servant for our club and played a huge part in the successes of the past few years. He has also given us an opportunity to be part of his amazing comeback story. Any player who plays with his combination of wizardry and heart will be sorely missed. However, I agree with the decision to let him go and feel confident that the decision has been made in the club's best interests. I don't agree with those who say he deserved to be rewarded for his service and I really don't think he'll see it that way. Football for the players and owners is transactional not relational, and I say this despite the affection Jodi undoubtedly feels towards Notts. The bottom line is that our owners took a punt on him and invested in him. The investment paid off because Jodi repaid the faith put in him with outstanding contributions on the pitch. The club will have been monitoring his fitness closely for the whole time he's been here. We can only assume that that recent assessments suggest that a further investment in Jodi at this stage has been deemed too big a risk.

A sad day for all concerned. But that's football as they say.

Jodi has been one of the few genuinely class players we have had in recent times. We will always remember his goal against Boreham Wood in the semi final, the season of record assists and his masterclass against Salford at Wembley. He will go down as a true legend of the club. Jodi's message to the club and fans seems to me to suggest he is not bitter and probably understands the position of the club. I think the fact that he has ended up at Bromley on transfer deadline day may also suggest there were no other offers for him. Other clubs while recognising his talent, not willing to take the risk with his injury record. The question for him now is without a proper pre-season, when will he be match fit to play for Bromley. Lets hope they don't rush him back and cause a career ending injury. I'm sure he will receive a warm reception when he plays again at Meadow Lane.

I think that we saw Jodi at his best under Luke Williams and Stuart Maynard. Under Luke Williams the emphasis was on attacking and scoring more goals than the opposition. Jodi was in his element with this footballing style.

I don't think that we saw the same Jodi under Paterson apart from a few glimpses such as the playoff final. I think that Jodi was less comfortable with the current Notts style of play & I don't think that he was going to get a regular spot in the starting eleven this season. I think that it was the right time for him to move on.

Interesting, although contradictory, contributions from @theAnticlough and @Graham here. In a way I agree with both.

JJ is a player who gets you out of your seat and has contributed to countless goals. Without him, it's quite possible we wouldn't be where we are today. I'm also in no doubt that he's good enough for L1. He's one of the last players I wanted to see leave, let alone to a potential rival.

Yet the club shouldn't be sentimental. After winning promotion back to the league, we held on to players we, with hindsight, should have parted ways with. I believe it cost us back-to-back promotions. JJ offers flair and creativity, but isn't very strong defensively and perhaps the club thought it could get an upgrade. Hence him possibly being offered new terms as a squad player rather than the automatic starter he wanted to be.

We've let go of quality players before and emerged stronger overall. If the new LWBs are a worthy replacement and the squad as a whole is improved and can compete at L1 level, we might have done the right thing here, as sad as it feels right now.

I'm just glad that the uncertainty and the rumours have ended.

I actually think that's become something of a myth. And back-to-back promotions would've had us plummeting back down anyway, we were nowhere near ready.

The team/squad including Cameron, Baldwin, Brindley, Rawlinson, Slocombe, Palmer, Scott etc. was bombing away at the top of L2 and still right up there in December. Then LW's wheels fell off with the sudden loss of our CM Palmer/Bostock...we could no longer control games, which his entire system was based on. He left. Maynard came in, and that was that, 1st to 14th. It wasn't giving those guys a chance that cost a promotion chance IMO

I'm happy the club gave those players a chance to prove themselves at the higher level. They had their shot, some made it (Palmer, Jones, Baldwin (elsewhere). Some didn't, and quickly fell back down the pyramid, but at least they'd had their shot at it.

Fans stay forever, we are the club, everyone else is temporary. But I don't want to side with the employers, I want to side with the employees and see them treated well. If respecting achievements for the club and rewarding success is sentimental, then so be it, call me sentimental. The day we're ALL hard-nosed businessman will be a world I don't want to live in.

Jones' case though is not just about rewarding success, he's got a rare creative talent and that's what I want to pay to watch. If I wanted to watch energy, there are pylons not too far from me and I could stare at the national grid for a few hours. I've always wanted to pay to watch skill, creativity, flair, touch, imagination - stuff with the ball us everyday mortals can't get anywhere near doing.

I've had my say on JJ, and there will be a fair few that agree with me. I'm not going to stop thinking the club got this wrong from a football philosophy, fans relations standpoint.

There were big clues in MP's post-match interview though...'the club being able to see them play to prevent them from going'. There was obviously a stand-off "I deserve a contract extension' v 'show us again that you deserve it'... and the rest is now history.

Two things for me.

One, I don't think Jodi was always worth the start. I preferred him to come on as a sub. He's lost a bit of pace, but will always have that quality and I just felt last season that moving forward we would have to balance his game time. I would much rather start him in important games, or against weaker teams where he's clearly a class above.

Yet when I said this to fans last season it became a very unpopular opinion but I do stand by it.

As much of a quality player Jodi is, he never seemed consistent enough and his connection with fans meant his downturns would often be overlooked. Now, some of them may see things for what they are now.

Secondly, I couldn't imagine us having Cal Roberts and Jodi Jones in the same lineup. I think Roberts is a clear candidate for being a more consistent performer who is able to assist but also score. Those two would keep out players like Nick Tsaroula, but on paper it would have been one hell of a choice to have. I just don't see it as being practical, when it sounds like Jodi wanted more money and I don't blame him for that.

He's given countless top performances, plenty of things to remember and at this stage I don't feel anyone should blame him.
