Areas you find more Notts fans

Featured Replies

I know Nottingham is mainly Forest fans, but are there any areas where you would expect to find more Notts County fans? Moved from Nottingham to London at the age of 2 so never really knew much about the Nottingham derby. I assume it's less tribal in Nottingham than London because the stadiums are very close so less likely to be a north/south divide.

Would be grateful for any info thanks :)

Less Tribal? Who knows, but...

The last pre-season game I attended between the two sides ended Notts 1 them 2, it was actually a good game, but probably remembered more for the over exuberance of a minority of Krankie worshippers. Following the whistle there was a pitch invasion, a fair few spilled out from the Kop happy to have won their cup final.
Lets be honest the bulk of these were teenagers, but there was the odd (supposed) adult in there with them. Of course, this was met with a number of Notts fans, helping (hmmm, not so sure about that) the stewards clear the pitch. The resulting charge left the other lot running for the safety of the Kop, whilst those stupid enough to stand and face the Notts fans got a whack or two for the pleasure.

I have to say, the behaviour was disgraceful, if not expected as soon as that lot decided to encroach in the way they did.

Strange this, because on a night when all hell was breaking loose around the country...

We had to go and play a league cup tie at the temple of sin. This was a great game (I couldn't attend). As I said given the fact that rioting was going on in city's up and down the land, you would have thought that Armageddon would ensue...

OH contraire, not a single public order arrest... In fact the 22,000 who did go were praised by the police.

It is billed as a friendly rivalry, and true that you can attend this game with family and friends who support the opposition, we aren't quite at the stage where "colours" could be mixed. However there is a genuine dislike of "them" amongst a good number of Notts fans, and they definitely love to get one over on their lowly neighbours.

Permission to be a pedant and pick you up on "Nottingham Derby"....

There is a Nottinghamshire Derby, which is Notts V Stigs, There is the Trentside Derby, which is Notts V Flower Arrangers.

Once Notts fans were all around areas like Clifton, Meadows etc...

Basically as you would expect fans to walk a short distance. I know of fans from all regions, from Weymouth to Edinburgh. These days I feel it's more widely spread, though one day we will start to see more and more Notts fans. Playing in League Two doesn't help, though if we can sustain ourselves in this league and the Championship it will slowly start to change.

Until then, it will be a case of seeing the odd section here and there.

A field where dreams become reality.

One area where you find Notts fans is around Meadow Lane! Particularly on match days.

I think the serious response is that there are isolated pockets of Notts fans almost everywhere in the county. I know folks from Newark & Retford, which are both "red" strongholds, who are avid Notts supporters. Equally, places that I've lived such as Bestwood Park, Arnold & Woodthorpe have plenty of Magpies fans.

I would assume theres less competition between the clubs here in nottingham as currently the teams aren't in the same league. There is still banter between the two, although i think the non-loyal fans of florest are worst for their attitude towards Notts fans. There are a few places you see more notts fans but its usually pubs more than anything. The obvious place to meet them is in the Trent Navigation or MLSB.
