Can Heroford survive

Posted

I can't say I really know what is going on with them, yet it is sad for the fans and for the game when a team folds.

Hopefully, I also hate seeing teams seize to exist.

It's a pointless punishment and clubs should gain more support. Teams are good for communities, even in low populated areas as it brings people together.

I blame Yoann Arquin!

Not really, just a joke. I hope they survive. Any Notts should hope for this. :)

Thinking back to when we were on the edge, staring over...

I hope they manage to survive even though I do not know what is going on there.  *note to self* Find out!!

I'm not sure either but if they are in danger of folding I sincerely hope they survive, it could so easily have been us a couple of times so we share their fans pain.

its such as shame to see them in this position, i think they have before? maybe they will survive? i hope so.

It's always the fans who suffer.

The latest on the situation according to the Independent.

It would look now like @erindoors got a real bargain at £1.00 and we got lucky with the owners, some clubs are not so fortunate.

Not looking too good for them. hope they sort it. Don't wish this on anyone (unless they are red!)

Munto at Notts, the 3 amigos at Derby.Dodgy owners meddling.Which club will be next? It's about time more stringent safeguards were introduced with more thorough checks on people buying into clubs.

As the link says, they were yesterday banned from all football activity. IE all their matches are now suspended until they've paid all football debts such as unpaid wages, which dosen't seem too likely. They keep getting let off the hook with lie after lie from numerous owners with no interest in the football side of things. They have been locked out of Edgar Street and rumour has it that the local council already have plans to build on the site.

The vast majority of Hereford fans have continued to boycott all game this season and are very intent on forming a new club, one ran by the fans for the fans, wherever they have to start.

Once again it's they who suffer. If the FA fit and proper person test was actually fit for purpose we wouldn't keep seeing clubs get screwed over like this. How their last few owners have been passed fit to run a football club is beyond me. It's a complete joke.

The Southern Premier League have a lot to answer for now too. They bent over backwards to accomodate them at this level. They didn't have to do it, but they did. This league has bent over backwards to accomodate crisis clubs in recent years which has only had a negative effect on other clubs. It was Hinckley last season, now Hereford.

Clubs and fans have now spent money going there for games that now mean nothing, and clubs will also lose out on matchday income as many will now lose a home game. Redditch United in particular have now lost out on a boxing day home clash.

It's a massive shame for them though. It's been sad to see such a quick demise. They've gone from playing the likes of Charlton, Huddersfield and Leeds to Poole Town and Burnham within a few years.

I hope they can take inspiration from the likes of Chester, AFC Wimbledon and Halifax and come back bigger and stronger

When was Hereford last in League One?

That's a trip, surely 06 if not further back. I'm struggling to recall them being higher than League Two. It is a shame, will they come back? Who knows but it's not nice for supporters to go through this.

They got relegated from league one in 2008-09

Ooooo... Shows how much I've been paying attention!

Awful, although it sounds like the council might save Edgar St for a new club which is good news

I feel for their fans and hope for a happy outcome,
