Notts County FC Academy evening

Just got back from this and it was a very good night. I arrived outside and phoned @notts-joe as arranged because he had my ticket. The phone went to answer machine so I stepped inside the door and was spotted by Joe thankfully so I got in ok.

Joe had saved a table right at the front near the bar and stage and we went and sat down with @super_ram who was already on his sixth pint (only joking @GrannyPie go easy on him )

It was great to see them both and have a chat before the speakers started. They were Paul Hart, Les Bradd, Dean Yates, Mike Edwards and Greg Abbott, they all gave an interesting talk about their footballing careers but the star of the show was Greg Abbott who gave an off the cuff talk more akin to a stand up comedian, he was very funny and had the audience laughing including the time when a Carlisle fan threatened to torch his house with his wife and kids in and said he hoped they died, Greg even managed to make this very serious subject funny. If ever he loses his job in football he ought to consider a career in comedy.

There was a raffle which none of us three amigos won but you can't have everything. Joe was darting about here there and everywhere with his media duties taking photos, videos etc

All in all it was a great night and I hope successful evening for the Academy. I'm sure @notts-joe and @Super _Ram can fill in any details I have missed. Thanks to all concerned.

Forgot to mention the chip cob which was free with the £3 admission fee, it was enormous with about 4 shovels full of chips on, marvellous.

The OSA do a fantastic job of raising funds for the NCFC Academy, so successful nights like yesterday make a huge difference. It was really enjoyable and went very smoothly, a lot of credit must go to Les Bradd for the presentation and setup. He does them fantastically well!

I really enjoy events like these, it's good to see that insight into the club and for fans hearing someone like Paul Hart shows them how important the Academy is.

We all want to see youngsters coming through, there is a lot to it but I do feel we are in good hands and I had hoped Mick Halsall would attend because he's another vital aspect for the development of our youths. The night went by very quickly, it's surprising how many people you end up talking to and I don't think anyone left feeling it wasn't worth it or enjoyable. At £3 I would always question anyone who said it wasn't value or entertaining :P

Mick Edwards trying to recreate his best ever goal was very amusing! LOL
