Former Players Association

Featured Replies

The former players association has existed for a long while - formed following the untimely death of Arthur Mann.

They are an active assocnhold an annual presentation dinner each May, a golf day and other ad hoc events. Most of the members who regularly participate are from the 70's era with a few from earlier years and the odd ones, like Tommy Johnson, Dean Yates and an occasional more recent player.

Colin Slater is the President and folks like Basher Bates, Sir Les & The Don also do a lot of work for them.

Hope that helps, a bit.

Thanks for the link - had no idea we had beaten Barcelona. Our record of 3 wins, a draw and no defeats must make us their bogey team ...

Yes they've been going a few years now, it's great to see the old players from my favourite Notts era still linking themselves to the club.

I've known for awhile about the FPA, I keep tabs on other clubs as it's the name of the game when steady ex players.

That said, I don't know much information about the people involved but ex players associations are vital for fans and even the club. It keeps another side of our 'history' alive and they do a great job at that. I regularly scan their pages for info.

A field where dreams become reality.

i did not know tbh, do they hold any events regular fans can attend?

Yes, I think its a bit pricey though. Mind not as much as Notts! ;)
