Notts County goalkeeper Roy Carroll wants to sign a new contract at Meadow Lane

Roy Carroll says he would love to extend his stay at Notts County and hopes his future can be quickly resolved.

The Northern Ireland goalkeeper (pictured) is out of contract at the end of the season, having only signed a one year deal when he arrived at Meadow Lane last summer.

Carroll says talks over a new deal are yet to start, but the former Manchester United stopper made it clear he would like to stay.

"We'll have to wait and see, but I really would like to stay at the club," he said.

You know all players have faults but if he bottled his 'passion', I don't think he would be Roy Carroll - at least I don't think he would be as good as he is. It's probably what helped him progress in football!

I'd sign him up now before we lose him.

He can play another year, I'd say two myself because even as a backup he would offer us more. It's a good thing, get it done!
