Moniz is a real stab in the dark - an interesting coaching CV, but has only enjoyed any success at Salzburg, where he was given a blank cheque book. His experience of English football below the Premer League is non-existent. Doesn't seem to make sense on any level, unless investors are buying into the club and want to bring in "their man".

In some ways you have to have a certain amount of sympathy for RT. He is damned if the appointment isnt deemed to be ambitious or progressive, but also if the Manager is successful but unheard of.

Now I am not saying we are pouring scorn... but if Moniz is the man.. then I would hope we see it as a positive thing, and get behind the club.

It goes without saying that whoever gets the job will be supported, @PTID1862. I'd certainly prefer an experienced top-level coach like Moniz to some of the tired old names on the merry-go-round. Hopefully he would bring some professionalism to the club behind the scenes. It would be a shot in the dark though - with his CV he should be in the running for jobs in the Championship, and his contacts would be more use there too.

The championship is where we want to be.. it is where the board want us to be... for a club of our size it is our top level I would guess, certainly in my lifetime... I hope we could attract and recruit a manager for the long haul.. good enough, capable of bringing in the right people... and at the end of the day delivering... as you say, some of the names make me shudder at the thought.

Just when the linked managers introduce excitement, the standard applications and rumours arrive. Oh joy!

If Ricardo Moniz is going to be the new manager could that James Shan lad be coming as his assistant? Would rather this than the old boys routine we always seem to roll out every couple of managers (although Dave Kevan is an excellent coach)

According to Uncle Col, it seems Tommy J and Dave K are both onboard. Moniz met them yesterday and agreed to working with them so I don't know where Shan would fit in. Be good to have them all, but could we realistically support that amount of coaches?

You need lots of coaches when you have 157 first-team players.

Dont forget the 157 reserve team players ;)

I still don't think we have a manager lined up. I think we have allowed this rumour mill to go into over-drive so Trew can sneak in another cheapo manager on the sly.

Rumour mill? Moi? :o

Looks like a done deal now. Uncle Colin and the NEP have reported it, and this has just come out in Gloucestershire ... http://www.stroudnewsandjournal.co.uk/sport/12655200._/

I'm sure Danny W is used to it. Bring on the sexy total football from...Yorkshire.

God I hope not, it at least my bets are back in the running. Come on Ray. I had Danny Wislon, Use Rossler and Mark Yates and more. Get one in to give me a few bob before I go away on holiday to Ireland.

I want Paul Hart to the end of this season with the new job advertised to start on May 1st.

You couldn't make it up, only at Notts.....

Imagine the conversation about backroom staff with the new guy.

I want my own guys in who I trust.

Well you can't as we hired the assistant manager before we signed contracts with the first choice manager so Dave has to stay. You're second or third choice, but don't let it phase you. We've got a good record of keeping managers long-term here.

Crazy. "Family reasons" sounds like a smokescreen to preserve the reputation of the club to me, a la Cotterill. With hindsight, it's probably a blessing in disguise if he wasn't committed to the job.

I feel sorry for Dave Kevan, he's been hung out to dry good and proper. Let's hope the new man wants to work with him, he was certainly well regarded in his last spell.

Ray Trew should never say anything, ever. Whatever he says, the opposite happens. He's like a reverse Mystic Meg. Having said that, he did promise us "revelations"!

Family reasons... His wife told him County are sh**e [emoji13]

Hart til the end of the season.

Absolute joke. Trews are ruining this club.

It actually says "for the forseeable future" so that could mean anything really, lets just hope Hart and Halsall can save us.

Not sure about the Trews ruining this club, they've made mistakes but they have also done an enormous amount of good, forgive me for reminding you that they actually saved the club when no one else wanted it.

According to this we've got them "for the foreseeable future". In Notts County terms that's until the weekend!

I hope they can galvanise the team into picking up the points we need. After that, no thanks. Looking at his stats, Paul Hart's win percentage is dreadful, worse than Derry's at 30%. And we need stability in the youth set-up even more than in the first team, young players need coaches they know and who can follow their development.
