Remember the Munto era, when we thought we had zillions of quid and could buy anyone, do anything?

What was your favourite rumour?

Mine was that they were going to buy all the land that the cattle market stands on and build a monorail station to link to the city centre. Trouble is I fell for all the hype, in a way it was a really exciting time, I really wish it had all been true.

@tonyhateley I thought the monorail think took off after Munto collapsed, due to the similarity between our situation and the way a dodgy salesmen convinced the town of Springfield to build a monorail in a Simpsons episode:

A map of the area around Meadow Lane did the rounds at the time, with an oval drawn over the top of our beloved ground in pencil. Which obviously meant we were getting a shiny new stadium ...

You might be right @dangerousausage I thought it was during the minor era.

I never paid much attention to the rumours, it all just seemed surreal. Biggest surprise was hearing Sven had joined the club! That was something.

Majority of truths wasn't rumours for me, though when David Beckham ended up being linked to us - It did make me think. Not that I ever thought someone of his quality would step down to the basement division of English football. I mean, even his old playing friends have skipped past it very creatively and he's now chasing the MLS. Still, it was one of the things which I would list as my favourite rumour.

Rumours generally are none sense anyway.
