On my way home, I am actually half way between France and Plymouth at the moment, we will stay in a hotel in Plymouth before driving back to Nottingham.

I've missed you guys, although I have been having a peek when possible but hope to catch up on all the news over the weekend.

Welcome home @tonyhateley. Are we going to get a report?

Just for you @GrannyPie.

Caught the overnight ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff in Northern Britanny. Pleasant /smooth crossing, comfortable cabin, arrived at 8am French time 7am British, steady driv down to the resort called Carnac where we were staying in a static van. Warm welcome from couriers who showed us to our 2 bed 1 bath static with wooden varandah, sun beds, outside table and chairs, lounging chairs and BBQ.

Went off shopping spent 120 euros about £100, came back and stashed all the stuff in the fridge and cupboards by this time the sun had come out to play so we headed off down to the pool.

Most days consisted of croissants, coffee and grapefruit for breakfast, load the car with boat, snorkelling rquipment, towels etc and head for the beach, Mrs H sat sunbathing/reading/knitting etc while I sunbathed/swam/paddled boat/snorkelled.

Back for lunch on the varandah which normally consisted of baguette/cheeses/ham/fish washed down with small glass of vin blanc.

After lunch head to the pool, grab a sunbed and parasol, sunbathe/read/swim/listen to iPod (trying not to sing along and getting a poke from Mrs H if I did).

Tea time head back to van sit and relax on verandah in the shade (because by now it's really hot) with a bottle or two of Belgian beer (rather strong but nice). Fire up BBQ, Cook meat/steak/chicken/pork/fish (my job) Mrs H prepares accompanying salad, wash meal down with vin rouge or vin blanc depending on meat. Get pudding out of fridge tarte tatin or strawberries and ice cream or some other goodies.

After tea maybe take an evening stroll to the beach (5mins walk) to watch the sunset or stroll around town maybe stop for a coffee at a café to do some people watching. Sometimes in the evening we'd just sit outside and relax with a game or reading.

All our meals were taken outside the weather was that good, we had a few simple meals out at local restaurants, very good meals and value for money (e.g. a large bowl of mussels cooked in wine with frites only 10 euros).

We also had a few excursions in the car (thank God for air con) to local towns, Quiberon was very nice and typically French.

I tried my hand a fishing once or twice with little success, we hired bikes and ride into the countryside on the marvellous traffic free bike paths, we visited the alignments/megaliths which are famous for the area, ancient standing stones similar to stone henge but not as big and hundreds in straight lines. There were also lots of little villages which looked as if they hadn't been touched in hundreds of years and lovely fishing villages and hidden bays and beaches to explore.

We found the French people very friendly, there was actually a mix of French, German, Dutch and English on site and all mixed snd got on very well.

All in all a superb holiday which was over all too soon. We're already planning our next one.

Sounds good @tonyhateley.I must say you don't seem to have been away for 2 weeks.

Strictly speaking I wasn't away from here for two weeks as I managed to get on wifi once or twice and did a few posts.

Just got back from ANOTHER short break in Derbyshire this time, the data signal was abysmal so apologies for not being around.

Off now to browse the posts and add my thoughts to a few.

Hayfield @tonyhateley ?

No @super_ram we nearly went to Hayfield but found a lovely 5van site at Tissington which we had to ourselves. We took our bikes and did some great rides up the Tissington Trail a traffic free disused railway line.

It was red hot when we got there but a little more comfortable the next day.

Well @liampie it depends what you mean by "back" we went to France for 2weeks and came back, then promptly went away in our van again and came back, next week we may have a few days away again and come back, in August we will be away for two weeks and come back then a week in September and come back ready for the big one in November but we will also come back from that.

So you will see me on this site as much as I possibly can because I love it but I also love my holidays and I have other on line commitments of my own.

what he meant to say was it is easier to count the day he is here rather than the days when he's no holidaying and relaxing in the sun!!! Ain't that right @tonyhateley :thumbsup:
