Some of you may be aware that earlier, a Scottish Premier League game between Kilmarnock and Hibernian was abandoned after 53 minutes after a gentleman in his fifites collapsed on a stairway and required medical treatment pitchside. CPR was administered before he was taken to a local hospital. The match itself was abandoned after being suspended for 25 minutes.

 

Police have recently confirmed that the gentleman sadly passed away in hospital. It's very sad news and I think it really puts things into perspective. No matter what we all say, football really is just a game.

 

Credit must be given to the officials and both sets of fans at Rugby Park who conducted themselves very well. They clearly understood the seriousness of the situation and abandoing the game was the right thing to do.

 

My thoughts go out to the gentlemans family and relatives at this very sad time. Rest In Peace

My ex immediate boss in the 60.s and early 70's was a fanatical Notts Supporter. We used to discuss football all the time. He had some great stories from the past and told me lots about  players he had seen .He had a lovely sense of humour and although he was about 40 years older than me we got on really well.

    He was going to an evening match at Notts (he used to meet up with his sisters and friends) round about 1973. I wished him and Notts good luck as we ended our work day. Sadly he passed away at the game. I'm certain he was happy departing this world whilst watching his beloved Notts.Lovely guy, still miss him.

 

      Condolances to the family of the scottish gentleman. Very sad.

Similar thing happened at Meadow Lane when Mad Dog was in charge, a gentleman (elderly) fell down some of the steps after having what people suspected to be a stoke, I think he survived though. It's quite sad when you think about it, as notts is seen as an 'older persons club' (please don't take this the wrong way) the times I've noticed supporters absent for more than 3 or more games. You start thinking... I recall this elderly lady who we met when Jake were very little, she never really spoke to us as such but she'd make a fuss of Jake and offer him sweets.

It took me some time to ask those near to where she sat, turned out she had passed away.

The officials as James said, they handled things wisely and such a sad story.

Its sad to see things like this happen, its glad that they were where they wanted to be before that but obviously still a very sad moment and will forever be remembered by their families and friends.
