'250 more' footballers with degenerative brain disease

This makes for sad but interesting reading, it mentions Jeff Astle a former Notts player - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-36015489

A field where dreams become reality.

It should definitely be researched. However, there may not be any meaningful results for quite some time - in Astle's day footballs were much heavier, and became heavier still when it rained. If they do prove a link among the footballers of the 60s, that finding is not necessarily transferable to today's players.

If they do prove a link, what would happen? Some form of compulsory head gear?

He was long before my time, but Jeff Astle was a bona fide legend, albeit best known for his time at West Brom.

I think this is one of the things that will get swept under the carpet but at least football's are getting designed with this in mind now.

There was a programme on Sky that speculated that heading practice would be reduced in training and that further funds would go into making sure balls are lighter to head. Its hard to imagine because heading modern footballs can still hurt.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!
