I like what Gillingham are doing:

Wagstaff is way too good for L2. I'd expect him to score 10+ this season.

Lee Martin is another fantastic signing, as long as he stays fit. If he does, he'll do very well I reckon.

Good signings, but its not about the individual, it is the some of all parts.

I seem to remember last season people were saying that Stead and Milsom were way too good for League 2 as well, but look what happened.

With there being no loan window this season, it may well come down to the side that hits the ground running from the off will maintain a challenge throughout the season. January will be a vital window for some, but will be too late if the club got it all wrong in July/August.

Having a competitive squad this season will be key even more than before with the loan system as it is, to many of our players last time around just weren't up to it , so our recruitment like that of others has to be good , it has been so far I feel , a good budget spent well this time could be a real advantage , maybe some of the smaller budget clubs may find the season long , just a thought.

Blair Adams to Cambridge. Hmmm.

Derry going with what he knows again and makes you wonder if Cambridge have a scouting network. Adams wasn't our worst defender last season and at least looked bothered when things were going pear shaped, but he's not going to be part of a promotion chasing team.

He was highly spoken of at Mansfield, so maybe he can do a job in this division. But it does make you wonder: Derry seems over-reliant on former players and recommendations from mates.

Not to burst your bubble but Gillingham aren't in league 2... You might be thinking of Colchester who got relegated last year ?

And I hate to say it but Mansfield might have made some half decent signings along with teams like Carlisle and Donny, its going to be a very tough division this year so we have to hit the ground running

I thought this was going to be about Mansfield, I would have been even more surprised had they pulled off signing those players. I still hope we can sign a striker, just think it could be all the difference.

Lee Martin is a cracking signing.

Sorry, I got Gillingham and Colchester mixed up! I should have added promotion rivals to the topic heading. Notts will be up there IMO. Who will challenge? Mansfield I guess. Plymouth maybe? Doncaster?

mansfield prepared better last season, they dont look like strong considering other teams have strengthened. there is still time but they dont worry me.
