Striker Matt Green has been released by Mansfield Town boss Steve Evans.

The 30-year-old scored 13 goals this season and 16 the season before, but he's now a free agent.

Reckon he'd be a good fit for Notts?

(The other players released by the Stags are Yoann Arquin, James Baxendale, Lee Collins, Ashley Hemmings, Kevan Hurst, Pat Hoban, Brian Jensen, Jamie McGuire, Scott Shearer and Corbin Shires.)

Ditto @Piethagoram.

I would also take a gamble on Matt Green, though I kind of expect a League One club to come in for him. He might give us the pace we need, although some Birmingham friends of mine say he's got about as much pace as a snail. Most Stag fans still seem to rate him though and his goal ratio isn't that shabby, I reckon he could do a job with Stead and Ameobi if we can keep them.

Yeah Greens good I'd take him but more importantly I'd take Scott Shearer over Collin..

Him a few years ago, I'd have said yes but we can find better. I wonder if we could attract a more experienced keeper that has a good pedigree to come here for first team football? Shearer for me isn't much of an upgrade over Collin.

i would take a gamble on matt green, hes not passed it and can contribute. all of our current options up front are somewhat injury prone.

it all depends on how much he wants.

@Chris were you conducting a straw pole with that pic!!!! :frantics:

Still agree with @TheFostarr94, shows greater shot stopping prowess than Collin

@Piethagoram I must admit, it looks as though the scarecrow spreads himself better!

Not more freedbies.. we need to invest in players not take what others don't want.

We have to rely on some freebies, though we do need to avoid the wrong ones - I do feel Matt Green could be worth giving a chance. It depends on the offers on the table but some are against him due to comments and things, Nathan Tyson repeatedly had digs at Notts when we wasn't even in their division and it's just a banter thing.

At the end of the day, he'll go anywhere that suites his life and offers him the right money.

If we could get a goal scorer and someone who can change games, I don't care about liking him personally. I just want to see us gain promotion or turning the tides.

I think maybe a few seasons back, go for Green, but not now.
