EFL Cup third-round draw to take place at 4:15am BST on Thursday

In another move that will pretty much end up alienating English football fans further, the draw for the third round of the EFL/League/Carabao Cup will take place on Thursday - at 4:15am BST.

This is because the draw will be made in Beijing.

Normally I'd leave it open to discussion and shirk from adding my opinion, but come on, this is ridiculous. It's a competition being played in England (or Wales, if Cardiff/Swansea/Newport play at home), where 99.99% of the fans going to watch the games will be based in the UK. What the hell are they thinking??

That's nuts. Why? Who in China cares about this competition?

The vigour with which European footbull functionaries are kissing Chinese bottoms is a concern. Chinese sponsors are seen as the new moneybags in football and that's all that seems to matter.

Money talks, but it's just madness! Football should put the real fans first, not sponsors or the investors but sadly it doesn't work like this.

this is madness, whos going to stay up until then to find out who plays who? ffs

The sad thing is that there will be people open to staying up just in order to be the first person to put it out across social media.

Fans should let their discontent be heard over this decision because it's wrong, it makes no sense to put at this time and surely a more reasonable approach could have been made.

A disgraceful decision, all at the EFL should hang their heads in shame.  Their excuse is that it opens up the competition to a wider audience, when I think we all know that just like the equally disgraceful Qatar World Cup, it's because they offered enough cash for the EFL to sell their soul.
