Call for an independent Football Regulator

All of that sounds good, albeit obvious. Football is part of our culture, we've exported it all over the world. We can't simply keep flogging it to the highest bidder. It needs to be protected.

I'm relieved that Project Big Picture is no more and that the owners of Liverpool and Man United have been forced to disown it. Surely Rick Parry must now resign?

sounds like a smart thing to do, i think ex pros should be the right people to lead it though. people from all the divisions, so you get a mix of understanding. not exactly ex fa staff who might not favour life in the lower leagues.

It's something like this, which actually makes sense that won't actually happen. Whilst unneeded changes will be applied.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

What exactly would they be able to do if this was approved? How would they be any different to anything that already exists. Highlight some flaws in the current system is fine but can we trust that it would help to make it fairer?

Now I've read that there have been talks about a European Premier League, again involving Liverpool and Manchester United. There have been talks with a bank about a loan running into the billions, and there would be no promotion or relegation. The top clubs are DETERMINED to exploit this crisis for their own ends. Hopefully this will blow up in their faces and convince the government that it's time to regulate the game properly.

We need some kind of authority that can govern the domestic game in the interests of all clubs, from the grassroots to the highest level. At the minute, playing fields are being sold off and ever fewer kids are playing the game, and no-one seems to care because the PL is rolling in cash. Also, we need to share out the wealth so that fair competition is assured. That's not going to happen when big clubs are allowed to call the shots. If nothing changes, eventually they'll be playing in some super league without relegation and the Football League will be stuffed full of B teams.

If they're fair to grass root level that it should be a smart thing.

Biggest issue I see is that it will most likely become biased towards the top teams or just those who are professional. I do think it's a good idea but its the job for ex footballers not former FA officials etc.
