So, it’s the dawn of another new season for Notts and as the feeling has started to settle – I find myself really excited about the prospect of another good season for the club but also to pick up from last season. All the optimism I have right now is making me all the more eager to get the 2018-19 campaign underway. Last season, in reflection was a true rollercoaster, however despite what some may have considered negative then in comparison to previous seasons wasn’t all that bad and although the club lost to Coventry in the playoff semi-final it restored pride to the community. It was refreshing to see fans eagerly optimistic and yes some performances did seem like the old ‘Notts County’ – yet last season did lay the foundations for further improvements. I also promised myself that after the Newport County game on the final day of the 2016-17 season, that I would try to be more sociable and for the most part I had succeeded. Before doing my usual media work for the site, I would try to get out of my shell and I have to admit I found it hard – yet I also enjoyed it. Towards the latter stages of last season, Magic magpie and my sons friend Callum started attending games and this has made a huge difference. I love attending games with my family and Jake had started to slowly drift away but he’s back now. I’m very thankful for this and I have enjoyed both home pre-season games simply because of the fact my father attended both games. I know how much family means to my son and he sees match days in a different way because of it – I often wish that for the younger fans things could be vastly different but I do believe those days will return eventually. 2018-19 will be a massive season, I am eagerly awaiting tomorrow and not just because of the chicken I have before the game! I have a very good friend who is now a season ticket holder, he’s been bitten by the ‘community feel’ surrounding Notts and I have the people I want around me. I may lose track of where I am at times, due to depression and previously because of health issues I have suffered from but I have a new way of thinking. Hopefully, my health won’t prevent me from attending home games. Yet I look forward to making more away trips, this won’t be an easy thing due to the cost but it’s something I want to make more effort with. I look forward to seeing all my friends and all the people who speak to me on a match day. COYP!!

Made me... At the time you was obsessed with Notts and loved being a part of the community, not just with PON. You can say that again, considering now your a season ticket holder!!

I try to stay clear of politics myself, it's just too strong minded and usually driven by fiction on both sides of the argument. As my dad says @Fozzy stick to the other topics.

Hope the footage I have seen is true and he has plenty of pace to burn, looks pretty skilful too. COYP!

In or out, the UK's polices have to be enforced and the belief/word of the people needs to be respected. I'm not talking the BREXIT poll, I'm talking about how we spend money and how many refugees we take in. Most these days aren't escaping war, they are using it as a way to enter other countries for all the wrong reason. It's great people can get a better life but at what cost to others? The UK has become a joke under both main parties leaderships and, I personally don't care about this. Provided English people are put first.

I really don't care, I know people will say I should but I'm beyond it. They spend so long fussing over crap, that actual changes become impossible to sort out. I'd rather see a tackle on drugs, anti-social behaviour than any sort of delayed nonsense about BritExit. The whole things a joke and I've always said it won't happen. Did you know people in Texas want separation from the US now? The world's gone mad.

Promising signing, I hope he arrives on loan wanting to prove a point and to play as much football as possible. COYP!

It's hard to see anyone else doing the roles he did at the club, least not with the professionalism and dedication that Mike Edwards did. I'm actually really gutted to see him leave, I hope he prospers with whatever he does and that the club can find someone who can be half like him.

I swear at the breakfast fixture release, it was said that Alan Smith was working as a scout and would maintain his coaching position at the club.

Nice to see the plaque memorialise the foundation of our beloved club.

I feel more confident about the defence now that Ben Hall has signed on for the season, I just don't know what to make of this rumour that Kevin Nolan aims to play 3 CB's at the back. Surely 4-4-2 is more worth sticking with?

I thought Big Sam would do well as the England manager, yet he messed up in a very bad way and Gareth Southgate may have not been my preferred choice but he's doing right by the squad. He deserves to lead England into Russia, I hope we can do ourselves proud.

The club should have found a way to keep them in within the season tickets IMO, it seemed a good way and I am certain more fans took one because of that. I know Notts actually lost money in this department due to that, but a better model and season might see the club break even with them - it's funny because I don't think they deserve being scrapped but there's just little to interest people enough to make them a commercial thing these days.

*Face palm* I noticed people mentioning DJ and I wondered who it could be, now it all makes sense! Notts fans wanted him to extend his stay on Twitter but the DJ made it seem like a new signing. lol Well I'm pleased, I think Dan Jones will be a much bigger player for us next season.

It's great to read the comments of a player wanting to remain at Meadow Lane, especially after the previous seasons. I think Dan Jones can become a firm fan favourite and as I said in the discussion in the PON forum, I think he's earned this deal. Michael O'Connor next please! COYP

Seems a decent prospect and, useful signing - one who may grow as he gains more playing time. I hope he can force his way into the squad and become someone our own academy players can look up to. Need to strengthen the defence up now.

I wished he would consider coming back for one more season. He's progressing nicely and, I don't blame him for wanting to try his hands (I should write feet ) at League One but really his game needs to be polished just a little further IMO. If he goes to a League One club I hope its one which will push him as we did, I don't expect him to come back.

I wouldn't class it as a 'sour note' Matt, I think the outcome was taken out of our hands and the squad responded positively when the chances of playoffs seemed bleak. The squad pulled together and secured a space within that, yes we may have missed out on the automatics but really it's football. Keep inspiring people and lets come back stronger!

Massive game tonight for all involved, yet especially the youngsters who haven't been to Wembley or even see us in the playoffs. We need to savour this moment and spur our team onto victory. #COYP

I really respect Tootle for speaking out, it's not easy but there is far too much negativity with regards to those that suffer with depression.

We'll battle for the final spot next Friday, Notts can do THIS.

He's right we are a hoof ball team. However, when we have kept the ball on the deck things looked good and with confidence we can knock the ball around well. I just don't feel we should respect Coventry as much as we did last time, it didn't help us and we gave them far too much ground. Let's just hope that this provides Kevin Nolan with a point to prove.
