  1. Hello, @Bertinez. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  2. I assume the first day back is all about checks and measuring where the players are, maybe some light gym work. Possibly some jog exercises and nothing that would shock them too much, even though they will be in shape - I can imagine there's a lot of recording of dietary and health stats. By now, I would assume they have kicked the ball around and tried to emerge the new signings. The first day back can be very exciting, with the club sharing pictures - I am pleased they all looked very determined and happy. Just wait until the actual training starts and you start doing laps at Meadow Lane.
  3. Hello, welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @BiggestPieInGlasgow. I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community! I must apologise for not taking the time to greet you sooner.
  4. I have my fingers and toes crossed!
  5. Saka was originally a left wing in Arsenal's academy, mate. https://www.arsenal.com/news/long-read-rise-and-rise-bukayo-saka I know he's said that it isn't his natural position, but it never seemed to bother him dropping to left back when needed. Defensively, he's not the best, but he offers much more than Trippier currently does. If Shaw is ready to come in, he would be the ideal solution but the reason why Saka is playing down the role is he prefers attacking football. He doesn't want to play in the position, he's made comments about it when Arsenal had reverted him to covering.
  6. Georgia's opening goal, it was a lovely counter-attack. I felt sorry for them, as one of Spain's goals could have been disallowed. I personally wouldn't, but there have been other goals similar that have been due to a player being offside. Whilst I don't think the Spanish player was distracting the keeper, he was close and other times players weren't. As for England, they'll have a difficult time against Switzerland but if we can improve. At least we can show Scotland how it's done, if anything we need to perform better than they did.
  7. The red sponsor doesn't really bother me; I think being white or black wouldn't look right. Red is their colour, they invest in our club, and it holds no connection to our neighbours. I get why some would wish it was different, for me, it doesn't bother me at all. When I first looked at the shirt, I wasn't so sure, but I do like it quite a bit. The Notts badge appears to be a lot bigger than normally, I mean prior seasons under Puma it was tiny, but this looks like it's jumped a few sizes. That's the only thing I am not sure about, but I wasn't keen on it being small. It's our badge, I have to accept it. I'm sure in person it will grow on me.
  8. @Wheelbarrow repair man it might get me in trouble with @cheeky~k8, unless she looks up the meaning. I told my son (@super_pie) during the England game. A quick smirk, followed by efforts to hide his laughter, followed by 'do you really think I needed to know that'. I then explained, only for him to ignore him. PS. I have a new tool in my arsenal now for when he's banging on about something.
  9. I have just applied a fix which needs testing, hopefully this will be the end of the floating navigation but if not - there will be other means of resolving the issue. If you could test for a few days, then get back to me that would be great @Fan of Big Tone.
  10. @Fozzy I thought Saka did alright whilst he temporarily moved to the left, I haven't been convinced by Trippier during the competition. I would like to see more of palmer, so making this change might bring a bit of needed change. I know the commentary team mentioned Saka wouldn't be happy playing in the position, but he needs to do what's right for the team. He's been easily replaceable during this tournament. If I were the manager, I wouldn't have started him after the first game. I would have dropped him against Denmakr and maybe brought him back into the fold to see if it changes. Trippier has done well on the left side before, but not enough in these games. He doesn't have the pace either; he's a different player on the right. Having spoken to some Newcastle fans, they have said he's been largely poor all season for them. There are certain players who just don't warrant starting, Trippier and Saka are two of these players for me. Replacing Trippier with Saka could secure Saka's spot in the starting line-up.
  11. I think Slovakia's performance will be overlooked by the negativity that surrounds England, it's been a much better performance. The goal was a major lapse in judgement and alertness, but our opposition has shown they are a good team. England are approaching the dying embers of the game and should have done more to get back on level terms. A moment just past, where Harry Kane wasn't quite able to get the direction on the ball from a free kick. It's going to be heartache at this stage, I never say never or give up easily. I haven't, as there's still time, but Slovakia are putting up a good fight to protect a lead they worked so hard to take.
  12. I believe that Jude Bellingham has a promising future lined up for a slot on Strictly Come Dancing.
  13. They have been warning us, with their chances, and it was a good team goal by Slovakia. Defensively, we have done okay, but we need to try to avoid the error of leaving winning the ball so late. Attacking wise, we just need to be calmer. Despite comments about it not being a good start, I think it has been alright. The goal puts a dampener on things, but we have looked like we can ask questions.
  14. Big hype leading into the game, it's something which makes me nervous at times - especially when the performances haven't been great. I think England have started off better so far, but the challenge that Marc Guéhi just made was a bit rash. I don't think it was a yellow, the referee seemed very keen to issue it. Good early signs is that the play is wide open, it means if we get a grip we should be able to make something of it. Slovakia are looking good though, a chance just past the post.
  15. Nuclear and solar power should be explored; Brazil has one of the best echo friendly setups for generating their power. 80% of their power is produced by a large hydropower plant. For such a nation, I think they're doing an amazing job to be at the front of this. We should be looking at replicating this sort of technology, even if it's on a smaller scale because any renewable energy is better than focusing on coal. Nuclear energy, it's something I am mindful of if it goes wrong and where it would be the safest to build. Yet I don't think you can pin the future on just one means of producing the energy needed, things change and having multiple options is never a bad thing.
  16. This is right down @super_ram's alley. He spends a fair bit of time looking through pages with old pictures of Nottingham, Derby and his hometown of Alfreton. I also like seeing images of Nottingham. A few years back, I remember looking at pictures of Skegness that various pubs had in frames. Some of those remind you just how quickly things can change. These days, not all the changes are for the better. I love things like this being shared, as I have mentioned previously, I was unaware Nottingham had other train stations.
  17. Oh jesus, just saying it out loud is enough to make you go red. I can't imagine telling anyone that I planned to have a nice relaxing lay down by the Trent using those words! No, not siree..
  18. @super_pie was telling me about him as we watched Germany vs. Scotland. Supposedly, the German manager told him he was wanted, whereas Gareth Southgate wasn't as bothered. Jake's also mentioned how he's good friends with Jude Bellingham. It's a shame we are losing this type of talent, because he could be making us stronger as a nation. That said, if it's true that Germany showed more desire for him to play for them - I completely understand.
  19. Connell Rawlinson should be remembered for his fighting spirit and aggressive approach to dealing with the opposition. Not quite the standard of Michael Doyle, but he wasn't afraid to slide in or put his body on the line. His first two seasons here, he showed us why we needed a defender with his height and attitude. He may have attracted criticism and some unfair comments, but the fact he still tried and performed to the best of his ability - this should be the point. He tried and loved his time!
  20. It's awful, they have been massively let down by their owner and club officials for overspending. Noor Husin, our former midfielder, is currently playing for them. I don't see a bright light at the end of their tunnel sadly, I think they will be lucky to survive which is a shame because they have always been a league club in terms of where I would position them. Their downfall is very saddening, what happened to Bury shocked the football community but this I feel is even sadder because they have had issues for multiple seasons now.
  21. I believe we were previously interested in Rod McDonald a few years ago, but I am not sure if that was serious. He's a good player, comfortable on the ball and copes with pressure. I am very pleased we have signed him, as he doesn't seem to have aged yet and should have a few good seasons left in him. Yes, he's only 32-years-old, but I have seen some fans concerned about that and I don't think it's an issue. He's a bright and alert defender, who should help us improve defensively.
  22. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea (06-18) all identify the best players and go out of their way to sign them. It generally works, but some of the best players in the world don't always work well. Sometimes you need a dependant player, that might not be the best but does exactly what you want. England has a good squad. Defensively, I think it's a lot more promising with Marc Guéhi. I think he's a far better defender than John Stones or Harry Maquire combined. He's settled well into this squad, but when you push good players to play in weaker areas due to a lack of cover there. Such as Kieran Trippier who has done well on the left side and can play the position - this tournament I just wished we played him on the right where he's extremely far more lively. Midfield wise we are extremely blessed, and I think the best players we have in this department can work well together, provided they keep a better shape and make movement. Rather than remaining stagnant and merely staring into space. You have to make the best players you have accountable, push them and ensure you can get the best out of them. Otherwise, it's just wasted potential.
  23. I disagree; I think it was the correct decision not to bring Jack Grealish. He worked much harder when he couldn't get a game, but over time he became predictable and complacent. In this squad, giving him the ball would only invite pressure back onto us, as he wouldn't have many options to play and would most likely try to take on players without really considering what happens if he lost the ball. I love Jack Grealish, he's a great player, but he becomes very average when he doesn't push himself. If we could take Jack Grealish before the City move or the earlier signing, in terms of how he played. I would have him no doubt, but not the current player.
