  1. Unless we are looking to bring someone else in, I would give it to Cedwyn Scott. The club might have a striker line-up and with the squad numbers yet to be announced, we could see some changes.
  2. A few years back, I asked @cheeky~k8 if we could try to have a holiday/family break away at one of the island parts of the United Kingdom. It just seems a different type of break, more relaxing and less like you have to be aware of the time just to make the most of it. The Faroe Islands looks amazing, it ticks the boxes as somewhere I would love to visit one day.
  3. I hope Steve Cooper does well at Leicester City, or it could be a bit of a merry-go-round with the staff that are being appointed. I hope Andy Hughes can establish himself and demonstrate his value to the coaching team. I like Leicester, I have a soft spot towards them after being present and interviewing/talking to their fans as part of PON's old sister site Football Manics.
  4. I think he's far better than Eastleigh, but I am pleased he's made a move and found a new club. It's a good signing for them, that I believe, but I think Richard Brindley could be playing League Two football at right-back, and I just don't see them being a strong competition to get out of the National League.
  5. I had planned to go, but I still don't feel 100%. I'd rather sit back and see what fans have to say about the friendly. Alfreton makes for a good friendly game. They are a physical side, but one we should see plenty of the ball against. It'll be interesting to see if Cedwyn Scott plays as a striker. Stuart Maynard has mentioned in his pre-match interview that the game will be two mixed teams, which we are used to, but it sounds like some of the youngsters will be getting more game time. Which would allow those with slight niggles more time to recover.
  6. Matt Palmer isn't as quiet as some fans think: he's always communicating with those around him and suggesting runs to them when he has the ball. He's the obvious choice, there are other influencial players but we need someone who can remain calm, Palmer is ideal for that reason.
  7. He may be a trialist since we haven't heard of any news of his arrival, which will give fans a glimpse into considering potential signings - if there are any more trialists we'll have to see. I wouldn't mind a signing of this nature, as he could be one for the future and happy to be part of a squad where he rotates/is backup. It obviously all depends on how things work out.
  8. I think a lot of fans are just disappointed and may also have worries that we won't have a 20+ a season goalscorer. When they both signed, I spoke to @ARLukomski, and he told me that he was more excited about the arrival of Cedwyn Scott. Scott is relentless with pressuring the opposition and often wins the ball back from doing this, he's a good finisher who I feel would do well in the striker role. I am seeing why ARLukomski felt this way, Macaulay Langstaff is a great striker but we have something a bit different, that should work out well. Give Scott the time to shine.
  9. It feels like the end of an era with the departure of Macaulay Langstaff. When he arrived, many fans were unsure of what to expect - myself included. Bringing in two players from Gateshead who had scored over 40 goals between them, it seemed like a dream come true. Eagerly awaiting a glimpse of the new duo, I remember feeling impressed by them in the friendly against Alfreton Town. Who would have known that Langstaff would go on to score over 42 goals, grabbing headlines alongside Erling Haaland and winning the hearts of Notts fans in the process? While we never truly forged the partnership between him and Scott, whenever the two did play together, you could see they had a perfectly good understanding of each other. Their first season with us in the National League played a significant part in Notts' bid to return to the Football League. Among all the league goals he scored, none was more important than the calm penalty he converted in front of thousands of fans at Wembley Stadium. The National League 2022-23 season is one I will remember until my final breath. The squad excelled and provided us fans with memories worth cherishing. Before the takeover brought the Reedtz brothers to our club, I thought the National League would have a severely negative impact on us. However, I couldn't have been more mistaken. In such a short time, it's amazing to see just how different the club feels and how match days at Meadow Lane now brim with pride within our fan base. Our return to the Football League was one hell of a rollercoaster. Going top of the league was a surreal moment, and while we couldn't maintain that position, it wasn't the worst season Notts could have had. In the early part, we genuinely looked like a team going places. It took Macaulay Langstaff some time to get going, but his goal away to Doncaster Rovers was one of the loudest eruptions of cheers I've heard for a while. Everything within the squad seemed promising. With Jodi Jones able to produce magic and Aaron Nemane with his direct trickery, the squad was always going to provide Langstaff with enough chances to continue his success. I was delighted when Langstaff was named the club's captain ahead of the 2024-25 League Two season, although I felt sorry for Kyle Cameron as I believe he led the club with pride during his captaincy. It was a positive step forward, giving such a fan favourite the captaincy - signalling the club's desire to hold onto him. While I am disappointed not to see Langstaff lead Notts out regularly, and saddened by his departure to Millwall, I am left with immense thankfulness and debt to one of the nicest players you could ever meet. Players like Langstaff are irreplaceable, but we trust that the club's recruitment will identify someone who can contribute effectively. If the transfer fee helps Notts return to League One, I will be more than content, even though I wish we could have secured another promotion with Macca leading our front line. I am encouraged by the fact we didn't lose out on a fee entirely. Millwall have secured a very good striker, and at 27-years-old, he deserves a chance in the second division of English football. During his short time at Notts, have we ever had someone who so perfectly embodied the striker we've always wanted? Langstaff will leave a legacy as a real goal machine, but on the other side of the coin, he leaves behind a genuine opportunity for his best friend, Cedwyn Scott, to pick up where he left off. I don't take things for granted at Notts. Many fans have shared this sentiment with me, and I trust that the club has considered the impact of Langstaff's departure. We are building a good squad, founded on the best talent the club has seen in years. Let's set aside the disappointment and focus on our bid for promotion to League One. 10. The press and media have a way of reporting things and in some cases, they load their articles with dynamite knowing at some point it will explode. Notts are fortunate that with time, most people will overcome all this luck. It would have always been a disappointment to see Macaulay Langstaff move on, but we all knew one day it would happen. What we didn't expect was the club to appoint him as captain, then leave him void of the marketing with the kid/training wear. Combined with all the messages and content put out, it does seem likely that they knew something would happen. If it was a case of hoping they could retain him or just a mishap between communication. I fully understand why fans are more downhearted, it's like having your hopes and feelings played with. Personally, I am thinking past all this. However, I have shared my thoughts above because it is an important subject. My focus is on giving my fullest support to the players who are here, whilst hoping that Langstaff does well for Millwall. I really hope he goes on to prove himself. We'll sign more players, some of them will be favourites with the fans. I hope Cedwyn Scott receives the opportunity to prove himself as our main striker.
  11. I understand his decision to move, I'm not all that disappointed. I had made comments that I felt he would be moving on after the captaincy change. I am saddened to be right. Kyle Cameron has been a good player for us. He featured heavily in the team which gained us promotion. His leadership skills extended beyond the pitch, by having all the players backs and giving them someone who they could communicate with when needed. I personally believe some fans who can't behave have played a part in unsettling him. He's a nice guy and never deserved much of the abuse I personally witnessed last season. He is a player we can replace, but his personality and passion might be harder than his ability on the pitch.
  12. It's harsh to write this, but I never rated him. He always looked uncomfortable when coping with having the ball, the times his passing sounded like someone blasting a ball - he just seemed underwhelming. I always hoped he would improve, as I am passionate about seeing youngsters do well. I think he showed signs of improving but his move, I never saw coming. It makes you wonder what Norwich sees in him, which we didn't. I do feel somewhat disappointed that bigger clubs see our youngsters in a better light, whereas we're afraid to play them. Some might disagree with me, but the only way you can improve and become ready for the first-team is to firstly gain match minutes and experience. Loaning young players is only a small part of this, for them to reach their potential they have to be in your own squad and around the first team more.
  13. He might very well be there, it's if he plays that is the question. Usually when you have a medical, the announcement of a player signing follows. It's very quiet, so I don't know what to make of it all. It does seem likely that he might be moving on but until we have concrete proof, we just have to wait for it to be announced or for things to return to normal.
  14. I personally don't like Lewis Hamilton, I once did, but his complaining of how difficult he had things made it harder to support him. I am pleased to see him win, as it's something the UK can and should be proud of, but Hamilton as a person makes me disappointed. We have some great drivers coming through, which is also a nice thing to see.
  15. Despite who voted for whom, we need to try to get behind making Great Britian a better place to live. This was never going to happen under the Tories, life has been getting worse and worse. The only people who seem to be proud are those coming over to live here. I don't mean this in any disrespectful way, but whilst we have families who are struggling to afford their next meal, elderly people choosing not to use electric or gas due to the price - that is very shameful of the government. There were people complaining about having free hotel stays, no worries over food and seeming very ungrateful. I hope under the Labour Party they can get a grip and re-balance things. The UK will have poor families, but the Tories certainly made it worse. Have we ever seen such a demand for food banks?
  16. It's nice having a working routine, even though I used to have to get up at 5:30am to which I would finish functions at anywhere between 12pm to 3am. I used to fall asleep on the bus going down, always waking up before the stop I needed to get off. Sometimes at weekends, I would catch the 35 bus even though it meant I had to walk further to get home. It allowed me to have a kip on the bus and then the walking would wake me up. I've never hated Mondays; usually the days feel much calmer to me. Fridays I tend to dislike because it can be a rowdy point. I hate going out when people start to celebrate the weekends by going into town. Yet today, I needed a little motivation to get up. Once I was, I'm fine.
  17. I need a weekend to get over this past one. Saturday, I hoped my brother and sister-in-law would move items to their new house. I wasn't feeling all that great, but there's no point complaining or saying you don't feel like assisting them. You just have to take it as the day comes and try to help, as moving homes is one of those things you do need support. @cheeky~k8, looked after our niece and nephew whilst myself and Jake (@super_pie) took care of loading the van they had hired with my brother. It was nice to get some fresh air, plus to catch up with them. By the time we had finished and watched the England game, I really felt like spare parts. Unfortunately due to feeling tired, we didn't go to watch the game at my dad's Jake didn't feel like it either, so it just made sense to stay at ours. This England squad doesn't want to make it easy watching, but I thought we looked brighter - just lacked chances and efforts on goal. Sunday, I did nothing but recover. I have caught a cold bug, where I feel sleepy, and my noise seems to have a mind of its own. Drinking water and resting has become my best friend. Poor Kate has caught it too and she has it worse than me.
  18. It really wouldn't surprise me if Kyle Cameron doesn't leave, although I am seeing comments from St Johnstone fans which suggest they are a very defensive-focused team already. Which makes you wonder how this potential move would fit, would they see him more as an attacking minded defender? For all the sticks Cameron gets, he has always done his best by Notts, and he's the type of defender before the Reedtz arrival most would easily get behind. Things have changed and unfortunately, again I have witnessed a lot of ugly things said and thrown Cameron's way which really wouldn't surprise me if he wanted a fresh change. I think there's a good player there, it's something which I think would come with our teams further strengthening. This is why I am hoping he manages to fight for his place in the first team here; it wouldn't surprise me if St Johnstone doesn't want him to play in midfield since this is where he came through Newcastle's system playing. Again, if he stays here - I wouldn't be against seeing him given the chance to cover in midfield since defensively on paper we seem much stronger. It's just a case of if this potential deal actually happens or not.
  19. Mark Crossley used his persuasive skills to successfully convince Notts to sign Tiernan Brooks, following his release from Sheffield Wednesday's academy. The high hopes we gained for Brooks came from seeing him praised by virtually everyone. The club became wrapped up with trying to push him over the line to become our first team keeper but were never really keen to give him that chance. It's been nice to see someone, like Tiernan gain the support because he has done well. I know Rochdale fans who were keen to see him join them, which I am sure they'll be disappointed about. When Brooks managed to get into the team due to injuries etc, I think it came via a lot of fan pressure and I thought he did well. It's better for his career that he now has made the move to become a number 1 keeper, whereas here he most likely wouldn't. At least not until things changed, it's disappointing in one hand because we never give youngsters any real chance, but it's hard to deny them a chance to flourish when an opportunity comes calling.
  20. Today, I am trying to motivate myself into being productive, but I have a cold (among other things). I don't really want to rest or sleep. I hate days when I can't keep myself busy. I will probably have an early night though, as tomorrow I will be up early and helping my brother and sister-in-law move houses again. This time, Jake's helping, which will be interesting. I hope it's not a case of who moans more, him or my brother. I'll be getting on with it. Now, depending on if Jake feels "tired" or "not", we might be watching the England game with my dad. I probably will still go, as I would enjoy the company and I appreciate the change of scenery for the previous match we watched. Sunday, my niece and nephew are coming round again as my brother looks to settle into their new home and move stuff about. This will be nice!
  21. ^^^ This is another reason why I choose not to vote; I won't regret making the decision.
  22. I wished I could say I had a dog that chewed my voting card and all of my ID, though I don't have a dog.
  23. Gary Linekar was signed to replace Andy Gray, who was a much loved figure at Everton. Gray left to re-sign for Aston Villa and in that same season, he arrived at Meadow Lane on loan. Colin Harvey played a big role in Everton paying £800,000 to Leicester City, which was a considerable fee for him. Howard Kendall backed Linekar, who had already scored 15 goals before Christmas. The Everton fans, however, didn't take to him until he had scored against Manchester United and Sheffield Wednesday later in the season. Even at £300,000, it wouldn't have been a bad deal. The tribunal did make it fairer, as the fee Barcelona paid was somewhat inflated by having done well at two clubs. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gary-lineker-howard-kendall-everton-19192018 Any tribunal decision on a youngsters fee should be a fair fee, clubs who are unhappy that a player goes on to be sold at a higher profit - sometimes don't take into consideration that players can only get better with time, facilities, better coaches and players.
  24. I think Vic Centre is a good location for a shopping centre that has a bus stop and car park. I think it would be more busy than it is now if there was a train station. The surrounding area is a nightmare at times to get out of by transport. I'm glad they went with it, though I do at times think about the other station(s) thanks to people on here. Nottingham Train Station always amazed me, until they put the glass frontage in, and now I think it's been ruined. I can remember my grandfather picking @super_ram as the taxi's waited inside.
  25. This is a possibility, in addition to having signed a 26-year-old who seems to be ready to grow further as a League Two keeper. Alex Bass always seems likely to be number one for us and should grow into the role. I sympathise with Aidan Stone, but I believe Tiernan Brooks would have been a better choice as the backup for Sam Slocombe. Yet it does no purpose to have him hanging around if he won't be played regularly.
