Match Discussion: Game 4 - The U's (A)
Can we expect to see some more rotation from the team that played against Barnet? I'd like to see Alex Lacey partner Connell Rawlinson, with Enzio again starting. He played better against Barnet than he's previously done for awhile, yet there's still a large room for improvement from him. He's too ball greedy and, guilty of giving the ball a way. Yet he's worth a place because he will only improve with confidence and, game time. Besides we would have a better benefit from attacking Sutton down the flanks, it all depends though. If Notts starts well, it could really help place those much needed points on the table. It's not a bad start to the season so far, but we need to avoid a Dover style result.

- Match Discussion: Game 3 - The Bees (H)
My thoughts; Notts picked themselves up from the Tuesday night win, went straight for it and, I feel Barnet never quite played to the same level as to what Altrincham did. I mean, they caused us some problems towards the end but for me this was mostly our fault. Kyle Wootton clearly looks to be enjoying his football, this is one of those important things which goes unnoticed by the majority of fans. He always looks like someone who can get on the end of chances. Once the first goal went in, Barnet sunk. Second goal sort of pulled the rug from under their feet and, we could've very easily killed the game off from there. The third goal, touch of magic, but defensively we pile on the pressure by backing off from dealing with the threat when it first develops. Overall, it's a very good performance and, Michael Doyle really helped to stop those final minute nerves. Once Barnet scored, they started to lift themselves and, they played much better in the second half. Fantastic performance, so good to be able to watch the games live via streaming.- Match Discussion: Game 3 - The Bees (H)
3-0 not even 30 minutes into the game! As I was writing about it being 2-0, Enzio went on to score. Here comes another chance but Reeves couldn't get onto it.- Match Discussion: Game 3 - The Bees (H)
Barnet are a good side for sure, however, I think they've got a few difficulties going on behind the scenes. They're a team well used to playing Notts. Sometimes they play really well, other times not so good - sort of like a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde type team. We won't know which side has turned up until the 30th minute mark I suspect, if Notts doesn't start as slowly as they did on Tuesday night and, focus on getting comfortable with the ball. I feel confident that another good performance will follow, result wise it really does depend. I would like to see a few changes, mostly as means to protect some of the legs. Roberts must start, it would be nice to see Enzio in but I feel we might not until we have another winger. Is Neal Ardley intimidated about one or the other becoming injured?- Match Discussion: Game 2 - The Robins (H)
My thoughts: I felt surprised by how attacking minded Altrincham came, they played with urgency and, a very high tempo. I did feel nervous for some time, as we played sluggish and, seemed far too deep. However, the opening goal changed that. It did come at a point I felt we were lucky, yet Kyle Wootton perfectly placed his shot. Jim O'Brien was always vocal throughout the game, giving instructions and, Wes Thomas has shown what he has about him. His chasing to retain the ball, keep it in and, then put in the cross for the 2nd goal. Absolute class! Kyle Wootton showing for a tall guy that he reads the game as good as anyone. That 2nd goal changed things, we seemed more lively and encouraged. The difference an early goal makes is always a positive thing, but I still felt we looked a risk at the back a little. There was times where we panicked for no reason. I'm not taking anything from Altrincham, I just felt on goal they lacked but they passed the ball on the floor very well. Second half, Notts looked like a team wanting to prove a point. Not only did we take our time with passing, but Notts grew well into the game and, the third goal sealed the victory. We could've had a number of more goals, however, I still feel this would've been harsh on our opponent. I wanted Kyle Wootton to get his first senior hattrick, he really did deserve it. Credit to Altrincham for their stunning goal, it was always an exhibition in terms of quality with the finishing. 3 points on the table also feels better, it might cut out some of the worrying our fanbase has been up-to. COYP!- Match Discussion: Game 2 - The Robins (H)
Kyle Wootton deserves his 3rd goal! ???? He's got just under 20 minutes remaining to get it. ????????- Match Discussion: Game 2 - The Robins (H)
Just before the 2nd goal went in, I thought Notts looked to be a lot more settled on the ball. It was a quite a slow start at first, I think the visitors have done well. Do they look out of their depth? No, I think they've attacked well. We just look a lot better on goal, now a penalty has been given!!- Match Discussion: Game 2 - The Robins (H)
Honestly, I would've given Enzio a chance - last season despite his poor form we couldn't get him out of our team. This is the type of match he should do better in, plus we need to save legs. The bench looks strong though! I can't wait to get the kick off underway. COYP!! PS. @Alex it's not a preview or anything like that, yet @ARLukomski has done a prediction video which is very good. It details quite a lot.- Match Discussion: Game 2 - The Robins (H)
There will be a lot more pressure on Notts leading into the game, but I do feel being at Meadow Lane will help [even though fans are unable to attend]. I'm not sure what line-up I would opt for, but I would hope to see us go for it. One issue Notts struggled to do against Dover, is play beyond their defensive line. We had to take shots with plenty of bodies behind, so creatively we need to work on this but the stress of calling for Neal Ardley's head won't have the same effect as if we were present at the games. That's one thankful thing, but the grit to get forward does need to be focused on.- Coronavirus
Ha! Is Russia still lying about the amount of cases they've had? Things seem to be turning but a lot of conspiracists (which is their opinion) don't believe in the second wave. I'm hoping it don't happen, yet this needs to be treated with respects.- Match Discussion: Playoff final - Sulphurites
I think the 'good feel factor bubble' that has been around our club has burst, losing doesn't need to resort to any sort of meltdown. Once most fans get behind the upset, I think less knee jerk reactions will come. Harrogate deserved the win. They played better, they wanted it more and their game plan literally made it difficult for Notts. It's disappointing but I can move on, fair play to Harrogate for playing football, and for going for it. They scarily coped with pressing and chasing everything for 90 minutes- Match Discussion: Playoff final - Sulphurites
Harrogate have gone for it, they're closing down and pressing well. It's forcing Notts to be penned back, and it's difficult to pass. Notts needs to revert to using the width, and drawing their players out more. This would give us more time to pick a pass, but it's a little disappointing to be honest. It's currently 1-0, very poor goal to concede but credit to the work rate of Harrogate. Ben Turner hasn't bee great, but I think the midfield needs to do more to push them back. Mitch Rose needs to go off at half time, I'd rather risk bringing Tom Crawford on because we should be much better on the ball. Please, Notts!! Stop hoofing the ball!!- Match Discussion: Playoff final - Sulphurites
It's the big day!! Let's do this Notts, I think the game will finish 2-1, although I really would hope that we can avoid conceding. If it goes to penalties, I really don't know if I could take that. Right now, I still don't have any nerves or worries. Very much quietly confident.- Match Discussion: Playoff final - Sulphurites
I'm not nervous, it's a bit strange because I did feel it leading into Barnet. I think Harrogate will want to counter attack us on the break, they have a very good offensive lineup but woes at the back. I caught the commentator in the game against Boreham Wood mention how they didn't have a defender on the bench. So, I can't see them setting up to go for it - I think they'll be patient and try to get as much time on the ball as possible. Only real changes I think would make sense, is Tom Crawford for Mitch Rose. Then if Kristian Dennis isn't 100%, give Wes Thomas the nod and bring Denno on from the bench once Harrogate tire out.- Match Discussion: Playoff semi-final - The Bees (H)
- It's in the 'blood', Black and White Army Playoff Build-up
On occasions, I have been asked why I support Notts County? It’s not enough to have it in your blood or to have shared the best part of your childhood attending games with your grandfather who lived and breathed the magpies. I always reply, when it’s good – it’s incredible, and when it’s a rollercoaster, you’re closer because you’re a community at the end of the day. Some fans might prefer to have it easy; however, I feel most wouldn’t. Notts County isn’t chosen, it chooses you and, on days like today, it’s fantastic to see a proud fanbase come together. The pain from relegation I believe it makes you stronger, it makes me more determined, and I feel the club’s history is one which deserves to be preserved. Each part of the Notts County community does its part, and when together it’s something special. Life in Non-League has been much better than I imagined, I am incredibly proud of the squad, and I feel we are much stronger for all the turmoil. Our new owners seem keen to learn from the past, they’ve back Neal Ardley and allowed him to assemble a squad which as fans we can be proud of. Making the National League playoff final feels a huge step forward and, I won’t repeat Barnet fans mistake by bragging about being in the Football League. Still, I do feel confident about playing Harrogate. Throughout the day, it’s been a joy to share and see how the supporters’ got behind today’s game – below I will share some of the build-up as we lead into the game as a community. Despite leading 1-0, I can't write how nervous I am. BT Sports have been nothing but biased with Harrogate and now, Barnet. It's an absolute joke, but the game hasn't been that flowing [most likely due to the conditions]. Neither team have really stood out over the other, but right now we're allowing Barnet back into the game. Sam Slocombe just made a brilliant save!- Match Discussion: Playoff semi-final - The Bees (H)
I think I can see both teams scoring, I just hope my gut instinct that Notts will lead 2-0 is right. It's a massive occasion for us and, I don't think the players will be all that nervous. I think the excitement might be the issue if they don't keep focused but let's just hope it's a good game. Whatever team Neal Ardley puts out, let's get behind them in spirit. COYP!!- Match Discussion: Playoff semi-final - The Bees (H)
I think some fans are thinking Notts will have fitness issues or, perhaps tire within the second half. The players seem fit enough to me, many of them have been having frequent runs near to where they live such as Tom Crawford. The squad is big enough to start players who can make a difference with a burst of pace, that's for sure. I'm hoping Kristian Dennis starts along side Kyle Wootton. Sam Slocombe returning will be a big boost, he's a solid keeper at this level. Defensively, I see no reason to split up Alex Lacey and Connell Rawlinson - yet I do expect Neal Ardley to find space for Ben Turner. COYP!- Can Notts County end nearly 30 years of hurt?
I'm getting more nervous by the day, however, I do feel confident. I think if Barnet still have injury worries, that would be of benefit - especially if Simeon Akinola is still out. Tactically, Neal Ardley has a wealth of options up front and I'd be torn between starting Wes Thomas or Kristian Dennis alongside Kyle Wootton. For me, Wootton is a must. In the middle I would like to see Jim O'Brien but I think it might be wiser to start someone who can do more running, such as Tom Crawford. Thanks for sharing your thoughts @Matty Jackson.- Supporting Notts County in the Playoffs with fan flags
Notts County fan flags have been pouring into the club ahead of the semi-final game against either Barnet or Yeovil. With magpie’ fans wanting to make their presence felt, despite the absence due to the game being played behind closed doors and, the restrictions of COVID-19. The club has announced that various flags will be on display around Meadow Lane, with the fans’ being placed inside the Derek Pavis Stand. Teaming up with One Stop Promotions, fans can design a vast array of concepts within their own flag and, Lian Martin has told the Pride of Nottingham that over 80 have been purchased so far – with the 100 marks being expected to be broken during the weekend. Fans have until 9am of Monday 20th July to purchase theirs ahead of the historic playoff semi-final, as Notts County push to make their Football League return via Wembley. Pride of Nottingham is pleased to be joining many other magpies with our very own flag which has been produced by the club’s partner One Stop Promotions. Pride of Nottingham would like to thank One Stop Promotions for kindly supplying these pictures showcasing our flags production, don't forget with each order Notts County Football Club will receive £10. I just want to throw this out there. Why are people suddenly complaining about people not wearing masks, nearly everyone from the start of the pandemic didn't. At the last two Notts games, I only recall one fan wearing one and I think he did it as a joke (or at least he joked to me about it). To stop it spreading further? I would be curious to know, what if most of the UK have had it and our bodies have become immune to it? I wasn't well back in December, I missed Notts games due to the illness and the symptoms match up. I didn't go out, just stayed at home and slept most of the time because it was all I could do pretty much. Suddenly declaring everyone needs to wear a mask when going shopping, it seems like something that should've been done from the beginning. I'm not against wearing masks, I just find it to be daft that it's suddenly now when it's needed.- The forgotten Cup run
The squad Notts had in 06 wasn't the best, but they played together and fought for us. I had actually forgotten about that, as I seem to recall the season wasn't exactly all thrills. Wasn't it also one of the seasons where money worries impacted things? I wished my memory were as clear as Uncle Colins... - Match Discussion: Game 3 - The Bees (H)
