Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Wood (A)
Yesterday was a brilliant result for Notts. Sam Osborne has done well when he comes in, I think he gives us that natural wide man approach to the game and since he's young - his hunger clearly is his self-motivation on the football pitch. I do feel he's sending a strong message out to the doubters and Neal Ardley! It seems this season when people really doubt what this squad can do, they naturally lift themselves. I wouldn't take anything away from Boreham Wood, it seems Notts just controlled the game and despite their late goal - it seemed likely the 3 points were in the bag. I think it gives us some positive motivation leading into Saturday's game.

Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Wood (A)
There's got to me much more focus and effort on working hard tonight, Neal Ardley has to ensure nobody switches off or drops below an expected performance level. It should be a better game for us, they're a decent side but the type Notts should do well against. If the momentum of this past Saturday isn't addressed, there could be an issue leading into the weekends fixture. We can't afford any more injuries, yes, we have covered but Ardley doesn't seem to know how to play certain players. We have to be expecting more from the creative players such as Enzio Boldewijn, Regan Booty etc.

Mitch Whiley's take on Notts County and the 'Neal Ardley Out crew'
My main objective is the fact we have sacked so many managers already, it would leave someone else with the same task as Neal Ardley but perhaps in a better state all round. Still, you get players who won't settle down or they dislike the changes someone else does. Exactly what Harry Kewell had and would complain about. The standard of football has generally been better, though it annoys me how defensive minded Ardley is - especially against teams like Sutton who looked beatable until the one change was made. That said, we have to stuck with Neal and hope he can fix things, or at least put in foundations for future success. Now isn't the time, thankfully some of this has died off with wins being picked up.

Match Discussion: Game 12 - The Ravens (A)
I think the confidence is high at the moment, I don't think the loss of Sam Graham will be something that would affect the club - Neal Ardley just needs to choose wisely whom he brings into the squad. The right player will see this as an opportunity to start regularly and this could be a lift for us. Bromley seems to be a good squad, more organised and team focused. There are a few quality players, but nothing that should concern Notts if we go into the game prepared, I think our quality should shine in a game like this. Do I think they can be written off? Of course not. There's a chance Notts could mess up, they could lift their game but I think Notts will do well.

Faces of PON: Notts County vs Halifax, 14 September 2019
Notts County ran out 1-0 winners over FC Halifax Town at Meadow Lane to end Saturday 13th in the National League table. The Magpies were hit with a setback just after the interval when Michael Doyle was shown a straight red for a challenge on Charlie Cooper. Despite this, Neal Ardley's charges took the lead when Kyle Wootton tapped in the rebound after Wes Thomas had been denied by visiting goalkeeper Sam Johnson. Halifax could not drag themselves back into the game and as such Notts picked up all three points, a mostly good afternoon for the home contingent. Match Discussion: Game 11 - The Shaymen (H)
They're in good form, having won their last four games. At the start of the season, I was told by two Halifax supporters that they had a competitive squad, with a not so attractive budget. The departure of a certain someone therefore came as a surprise, but I think as a side they play with a lot of confidence and will prove difficult to break down. Notts needs to be matching their confidence, it's the only way to shake off the nerves properly! If we could unleash some good shots on target from a distance, I think this could cause chaos for their keeper and defence. Notts will either see a master class from Halifax and we'll buckle to the defence, or we'll do ourselves proud and go toe to toe. Ultimately, I see the latter ending in a draw which I would happily take. I'll say 2-2, with Booty and Thomas finding the net for us.

Analysing Notts County's first ten games in the National League
I think at this stage, Neal Ardley needs to be settling down the squad, and avoiding changes which seem to be within the 4-5 amount per game. The squad really does need to be settled, I'm sure most can manage 90 minutes and this is why we have subs. I'd like to see him go for games a bit more, rather than throwing the one defensive player on around the 70th minute but the National League isn't that bad at all. Hopefully, the promise we have in this squad which is clear - can thrive and grow in confidence. I think we are a few good results away from clicking, just need to demand a certain level of the players on a consistent basis.

Match Discussion: Game 10 - The U's (A)
I think most would take the point, it sounds like we were unlucky in the second half. Neal Ardley has asked for patience after, however, he needs to start making sure performances are consistent and quit making so many changes before the games. As I say, 1-1 doesn't seem that bad. Most comments have read seem optimistic about the standard of play.
-
Match Discussion: Game 10 - The U's (A)
1-0 down already. Regan Booty sounds to be doing his best, yet players like Enzio Boldewijn etc are off their best. Kristian Dennis has almost just scored, but it's looking quite embarrassing that we are being outplayed by so much. Mitch Rose needs to step it up, he has the quality to make those around him click. Just frustrating to see us concede so easily.
-
Match Discussion: Game 10 - The U's (A)
I think it will be a very scrappy encounter, unless Notts ensure they make a strong forward movement. Otherwise, it will just be one of those games where we have to hope the players take whatever changes come, I would be surprised if we hammered them but who knows. Neal Ardley must read the signs in the game and if Sutton panic, go for a win - not to draw. I don't expect anything other than effort, 100% and attempting to win.
-
Match Discussion: Game 9 - The Moors (H)
I've been told they've got a good team and have recruited well in the summer. They're 7th but lost to Halifax who seem to be doing better after Jamie Fullarton left. I can't really comment on the opposition, I honestly don't know much about how they play - I'm doing research mind. I just hope Notts can bounce back after Yeovil. As I keep saying, anyone who starts well and works hard can beat anyone in this league. There's no clear favourites and with Notts it will take time.
-
Match Discussion: Game 8 - The Glovers (A)
It sounds like a frustrating game, both for the travelling fans and the players. It didn't sound pretty at all. My original opening comment about the type of game I expected. Since I am aware of them, I knew we couldn't write them off - some thinking that due to them losing three games back to back means anything (well it tends not to). From what I heard and can make out, Yeovil moved the ball with some pace. Charlie Slater and Mark Stallard spoke about Notts is looking 'better' or 'brighter' when they played the ball on the ground. It leads me to think Yeovil knew exactly how to break down the game and I think we sound quite clumsy to have conceded two goals in such way. I would chalk this one off, as mentioned before, the game by Mark Stallard, all the signings have been brought in by Neal Ardley and they need time to settle. Disappointed? Yes, but it doesn't take anything away from Yeovil who sound like they did deserve the three points. If Notts could score or take chances, perhaps the pressure would have been self containing but we all know teams in this league can beat each other. I just want stability more than anything right now, that will take time. The players will brush themselves off and go again.
-
Match Discussion: Game 8 - The Glovers (A)
I'm looking forward to seeing how Notts does against Yeovil, I was considering going, but I have to man the fort at home. Think Yeovil is a bit of Jekyll and Hyde type of team. They will look to use their pace in areas where they get the ball, yet it wouldn't surprise me if they don't attempt to keep the ball in the air for the most part - they're capable of playing it on the ground but can they compete with us well in this? I don't think so, it's more likely they try to keep the game at a slow pace if allowed.

Faces of PON: Notts County vs Chorley, 26 August 2019
Notts County stretched their unbeaten run to four matches with a 5-1 victory over Chorley in Bank Holiday Monday's National League fixture at Meadow Lane. The Magpies fell behind in the ninth minute through Lewis Baines' powerful header from Alex Newby's delivery, but Nathan Tyson rifled home his first Notts goal on the half-hour mark to level proceedings. Neal Ardley's side then struck two quick-fire goals after the break as Enzio Boldewijn cut in from the right wing and curled in left-footed after 49 minutes, before Kristian Dennis rattled in an effort from the edge of the area. Wes Thomas replaced Tyson after an hour and within five minutes had also notched his first goal for the Magpies, finishing from close range after Dennis' shot was parried by Billy Crellin, then got his second with a powerful strike after 71 minutes. Match Discussion: Game 7 - The Magpies (H)
Well, Ben Turner has spoken about the players being tired, yet wanting to reward the fans - I think tomorrow will be an interesting game. I don't know much about Chorley FC, they look pretty standard for this league going off their highlights. I think if Notts can throw a steady pace at them, whilst remaining in control of the game (defensively) good chances should come. Notts must avoid switching off for those few seconds/brief minutes where sides manage to sucker punch us.
-
Match Discussion: Game 6 - The Fleet (A)
I don't know, I'm not disappointed by the actual result. I'm concerned about the nature in which we gave the lead away twice, however, football is like this and sometimes the teams who aren't doing that well lift their game for matches like this one. Did we not say last season that teams would be doing this? Now the seasons started, some are acting like we are self-entitled to gain promotion just because of who we are. The squad needs further time to gel, I don't think Neal Ardley has figured all of the pictures out with his tactics but I am encouraged. I've missed two games so far, we have looked alright in the other ones I have seen. Considering some wonder where the goals will come from (myself included at times), yesterday taking the lead twice was a positive. The negative is how we fail to make Ebbsfleet work for the goals we conceded, but again, after last season and the fact our defence is pretty much new. It will take time! I think I would be more annoyed if we had lost and totally been outplayed, it sounds like either team had a good game and for us too many of our players didn't step their own performances up. Regan Booty finding the net, finally I feel will be important - he seems like the type of lad that wants to score on a regular basis.

Faces of PON: Notts County vs Wrexham, 18 August 2019
Notts County played out a 1-1 draw with Wrexham in Sunday's National League clash at Meadow Lane. The Magpies took the lead in the second half through Kristian Dennis, who nodded home at the back post in the 69th minute. However, Notts were only ahead for five minutes, with Devonte Redmond equalising with an effort from the edge of the box. Neal Ardley's side sought to go back in front as the unmarked Nathan Tyson rifled over from 12 yards and Enzio Boldewijn shot straight at Christian Dibble when well placed. In the end, the spoils were shared between the two sides, Notts now boasting one win, two draws and two defeats from five. Match Discussion: Game 5 - Red Dragons (H)
Victories sometimes are lost by focusing too much on playing pretty football, yet it was a decent game - quite exciting in fact. I left the game feeling like my club is on the verge of finding the right path, let's make it clear - we won't win every game. Notts has never been a side that turns over opposition teams and we are in the National League for a reason. Wrexham played well, I thought they look good on the counter and played neat passing football. First half they had a tendency to drop to the floor in an attempt to break up the play or just disrupt it. It's probably the best team performance I have seen for quite a while, attacking wise we played very well. Wrexham caused some issues at the back, so early on in the season, I think those kind of misfortunes are natural. It's something Neal Ardley needs to stomp out over the course of the season. I absolutely agree with the harshness of benching some of the best performers from the Harrogate win, however, there might be a valid reason such as fitness or slight niggles. Back to the game, Regan Booty looks a class player. He threw his heart into the first half and I honestly feel he played well. I know some fault him for the goal conceded, yet even experienced players ball up and this is the second time he's played for us. Wes Thomas looked a threat, when you run with his type of pace, it's difficult to slow down to pick out the perfect pass. I felt every player tried, even Michael Doyle (although his work rate could be better). The team played as one, they seemed united in moving together and I feel the signs are promising. I think this team could become something special, provided everything continues to work in the right direction.

Match Discussion: Game 5 - Red Dragons (H)
Some Wrexham fans are giving it 'large' on social media, going on about them being a big club and how Notts is Nottingham Forests B team - very weak banter at best. They're not a sleeping giant, just like us, we have found ourselves exactly where we belong but at least Nottingham isn't Wrexham. To the game, I just think Notts needs to control it by passing wisely. Wrexham has a few good players, they're a decent team, but nothing special. Exactly nothing to be afraid of, if they win it will either be down to being better on the day or poor defensive play by Notts. I am quite confident we could make it two back-to-back wins.

Faces of PON: Notts County vs Barnet, 10 August 2019
Notts County fell to a 2-1 loss to Barnet last weekend, the hosts taking the lead through Enzio Boldewijn but throwing it away as Callum Reynolds and Simeon Akinola gave the visitors all three points. Boldewijn put the hosts in front after just nine minutes with a long-range strike before Jim O'Brien went close to extending the lead for Neal Ardley's side. However, the visitors replied as the half-hour mark approached when Callum Reynolds headed in from close range after the Magpies had failed to deal with a set-piece. Connell Rawlinson and Kristian Dennis had chances to restore Notts' lead but, after Akinola turned past Sam Graham and clipped a finish beyond Sam Slocombe, it left the Magpies having to wait a few more days for their first win.
