  1. Your wish is my command. Could you remind me about your other point about mobile navigation? I have a note on my to-do-list, but I haven't expresed it clearly enough, and I now don't recall the original point. I'll look into this at the same time, and make sure it's implemented. Thank you, for the kind comments. I think it's partly my own fault, but I am older now (not wiser). There are many fans who were once somewhat involved but have since drifted away, along with regulars who come and go. Partly I need to remind people, as a gentle push but I did run before the site could walk. I have also allowed the negative experience I had when I first started the site, to control my narritive which in hindsight I wished I didn't trust those who was in my ear but ultimately it comes back to me. I don't believe in division among fans, we should all try to get along which isn't always possible but anything that puts Notts' name out in a good light, allows fans to stay connected is a good thing. I wished more could see just how much I care about Notts, and how much dedication I have put in, but then it's never been about me, but the community and what we can achieve together.
  2. @Fan of Big Tone: You won't see a manager flip between mind games, tantrums and trying to put himself across as a 'nice guy' in his press conferences. Only to make his true behaviour more obvious when the camera during games pans onto him, I am surprised he wasn't sent to the sends for swearing at the foruth official. He's a very childish, and pathetic manager. It's that time of year when things are all systems go for me, and my family. Wedding anniversary coming up, Jake's birthday on Friday (3 pointer present I hope) and mine 3 days after. My head is still in code, but I also have had a bug I thankfully mostly recovered over. I had a blast on the day trip with Super, Mark and Katrina to Skegness. We're thinking about doing others, so it would be nice for my dad. York is somewhere that might be on the cards, as the medevieal part is something of interest that has been mentioned, what with its history and connection to Harry Potter. Also, I feel like I am reducing my weight, which is promising. I am going to try to go to a gym with Mark and Jake, provided the latter doesn't keep saying he's busy.
  3. I haven't had a chance to watch any other than Notts, I did see the highlights of some and I think Stockport County were very fortunate to have scored. Not that I think the Stevenage keeper had any merits in his appeals. I just think the goal ending up in the back of the net was fortunate, but I know both teams had some good chances which perhaps deserved to have gone in more than that. On the Ex-Notts front, it's good to see so many players involved in other teams success. It wasn't that long ago (or feels) that we very rarely saw any players on the up, instead on the down and out. Further signs of progress, I think.
  4. Following up on the announcement made back in April, I have continued to focus on performance, efficacy, and optimisation that improves the site. Whilst improving on existing features, and bringing in new ones to offer more to the community. Before I dive into this, I just wanted to apologise for the down time yesterday. PON experienced the issue twice, although this was my own fault and I won't be skipping the live dev site in the future. All resources and chages will be tested there, however, to explain I do local testing which I felt was meaningful enough but this ultimately wasn't a wise idea. This was quickly shared on the PON Status page, quickly investigated and not long after resolved: https://status.prideofnottingham.co.uk/ I have improved numourous resources which all focus on making them to the highest grade in terms of their performance as possible, for about a week and a half I have had OPcache running. This alone makes a signicant improvement, as it can improve demanding PHP pages alone by 30% up to 70%. By going through the demanding applications that make up PON, this further makes a massive difference to the way the site performs and loads. Some might have noticed whilst visiting the site that the status page has a nice badge button, and a new one has been added for some time that delivers a new experience - called 'What's New'. These badge buttons have been added now to the mobile navigation. So, what does the page do? It's a new hub that focuses on live, and new content. This isn't a replacement for the dashboard, or any other areas. It is intended to suppliment the community, by offering a different experience, that allows you to stay tuned with what is happening, where your time could be spent to help discussion content but also to ease the time you may have to joining in more. The page updates automatically every 60 seconds automatically. It efficiently handles this without impacting the site by focusing only on new content and changes which have been made. At the top, you will see latest topics, items unread, items without replies, items that are active and status updates. So you don't lose your place: all content opens up in a new tab. If you pause, or become inactive, the page will queitely halt until your session becomes active again. This is a smart way of protecting resources, and it means nothing is wasted. All you need do is re-engage with the page for it to resume. Please help support other community members by trying to spare some time for discussion which might not have gained traction. You can view the what's new page here: https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/whats-new/ Just one or two comments can impact a discussion, and lead to further responses as it develops and interests readers. Throughout the site, it also adds a badge to encourage activity and if discussions are actively replied to within 15 minutes, a live badge will show making the topic as an area of activity happening right now. Status posts now will show on the all activity page. This is a useful way to express how you feel, what you are doing and a way for members to get to know you better outside of discussions. This is a feature which I use, but will be using more of. I have made signicant custom improvements to the moods application, and whilst I focused on optimising it. Adding a very important feature called 'Lazy loading'. I enhanced it by including a search field, which will automatically suggest a mood if your term isn't found or it will show you the exact mood you want. I will ensure the search field is added to the responsive nicely, as I have just checked and it isn't working as intended. I'll have this patched ASAP, later on. Topic Surveillance is back, despite the name it's just a mode for topics which slows down the responses and can lead to approval if things gets out of hand. It's a very important tool for moderation, and to avoid upset. Coming Soon: Community Notifications: This will allow me/team members to send a custom inline notification to members. Automated Newsletters: Choose how you would like to get newsletters, weekly and specials. These will focus on site content, but it will be down to you to choose what makes the cut so you can personalise them. This won't replace the newsletters I intend to send out to those who subscribe, which will feature guest writers. This is a different newsletter scheme, which will be introduced ahead of next season. Automated Newsletters, will include my own take on what's happening around Notts, but the rest will be down to what you want to see. Monthly Awards: Returning the Member(s) of the Month, plus other acknowledgements such as Best Post of the Month - including rewards for certain ones at times. Explore Feeds: Will be another means to engage with content, as this will be geared to match day content, and grouping site areas into active feeds that members can cater to their browsing habits. Content Limits: This will be introduced after the Play-Offs, only guests and NewPie members will be effected. Participating can provide NewPie members with additional daily limits. This is built and ready for deployment, but I want the season to be concluded before I introduce it. The Jimmy Sirrel stand forum remains open without limits, meaning guests can read all the content posted there but will hit limits in other areas. Groundhoppers: This will allow members to mark which of the 92 teams and grounds they have visited, not just this, but you can mark off historic grounds and your profile will display relevant information. You can have it set to public, private or to followers only. Some information will be public, the majority will be based on your preference though. You can even leave comments about grounds, past-games which are private to you or your preference. History: I will be bringing all of our club's history into the site, past seasons, fixtures, goalscorers, and all that historical good stuff. There's a few more, which will gain more attention during the close season. Stay tuned; please continue to join in and help spread the word! Thank you for taking the time to read this announcement, and please let me know your thoughts + what new feature you like the most.
  5. For me, it was between Rod McDonald and Jayden Luker and I think at different times upon reflection I might be tempted to choose differently. McDonald was brilliant at the back, I think all were but maybe Lucas Ness was a bit clumby and the player Chesterfield caused more trouble with. Jacob Bedau deserves a shout out, as does Nick Tsaroulla. However, I went with Luker because I remember saying how I failed to see where he fit in upon his return and whilst he's done okay. Excelled at times, and otherwise been invisible in spells, there's no denying he's a work horse. I felt sorry for him that the Sky pundits seemed to single him out all the time, very rarely saying anything positive and focusing too much praise on Tom Iorpenda (who was good) and Jodi Jones (acceptable but not his best). The female commenator got on my nerves describing the Chesterfield keeper as "There was absolutely nothing he could have done there". Except for using his hand? Or kick the ball? Weak keeping, poor positioning... Then saying that Luker was "lucky" to be where he was, whilst the shot wasn't exactly difficult it still went in. If you praise the keeper, and call the scorer lucky, you undermine your whole point. Luker did exceptionally well to get on to the ball, and strike it towards goal even if it was straight at the Chesterfield keeper. Who probably should have wore different "boots". I am going to have a field day with some of their players names come Friday. 😀
  6. Chris updated their mood to Busy
  7. Very poor penalty, referee has mostly allowed the game to be free flowing but some puzzling decisions. I think Notts have done well so far, but we need to see this out of get a second. Paul Cook is a miserable sod, he talks all nicely during his interviews leading into the game but becomes a clown during them.
  8. The amount of mind games from Chesterfield really makes me hope that we stay focused on our own game, and play to our best ability. If we do, I don't think they would remotely be able to handle us. Yet, I do think they will be able to manage the game, and therefore we will have to handle the situation. I am sure their players will be trying to provoke our fans in attendance to get onto the players backs, as they will try to get into our players minds. Leave them to it, focus on playing football and protecting James Belshaw. I think if we can keep 11 players on the pitch, and avoid fights or nasty challenges we should be able to play better. I do think Chesterfield are a good time, just with some negative approaches to playing which might help them but teams like us need to show we are a stronger team by performing to our standards. I would take a 0-0 draw, but I hope we avoid defeat. They will be onto Notts from the moment the first touch happens, and we need to be very focused, calm and objectively determined to show the league games means nothing. It's about pride more than anything now, Notts can do much better than we have against them this season.
  9. He said, cheers! @Fan of Big Tone
  10. @Robbie: I think their half time team talk brought constructive organisation back, and it flipped the game on its head. I don't think we lost momentum, just struggled to counter their tactics. I think we should have been 2-0 up before they scored but it was very entertaining.
  11. A rare treat for Super, my mate Mark and his partner Katrina have taken us to Skegness for the day. I wasn't expecting him to come, but it's been really nice. Not as busy as I thought it would be.
  12. Further performance and optimising going on behind the scenes, two new features added which I hope will bring attention to content that deserves a bit more traction and encourage members to get involved with them. I need to know how to implement two badge buttons nicely in to the responsive side of the site. Several applications have been successfully optimised further, which I hope will have a positive impact on visiting the site. Still many to do, and bugs are fixed upon finding them. I need to find time to polish some parts that have been introduced, but I have plenty of time for that. I feel largely better, but still struggle in some aspects. Not that it's stopping me, and I will hopefully be off to see Super shortly. He still hasn't responded to me, despite having spoken to Cheeky for almost an hour. To be fair, he will be talking to my brother now. I expect him to complain about his phone not being off the hook, but what can I say? He's clearly popular.
  13. I am aware that in the past Notts would tell players ahead of time, hence why some just didn't lok interest andothers would suddenly seem to be trying. This mindset isn't present in the way the Reedtz run the club, but I would suggest it might be a case of Notts being aware of who they will keep or let go, but wanting the playoffs to be out of the way first. Personally, I expect the retained list to come after our league status is known.
  14. It's easy to take things for granted; by nature we all do to some extent. However, I think that the Reedtz have done remarkably well for new owners of a football club when they first arrived. I think the fact they allow staff to go about their roles without interference, and they remain focused on their core values and not promising the earth makes the club fare more focused on its own progress. There's different levels of "good business owners", and not all are equal, but I find they have strong core values which act as a moral compess when making their decisions. Those supporters that are becoming fickle and demanding, do not understand what the Reedtz have brought to the club. They just take everything for granted, and hide behind the cheers when things are going well, then creep out the woodwork at the slightest chance to critise them. On one hand, put all the good things they have done, and in the other place the things you would suggest they got wrong. If you think they are remotely equal, or not immensely inbalanced, then I would love to know those thoughts because the Reedtz almost make us feel content with the club's direction. We are moving forward, perhaps not at some fans desire but that is an element of entitlement and taking things for granted. Of course, we could have done better last season, and this past campaign, but really would anyone truly say we failed? I grew up witnessing Notts' decline, characterised by mediocrity, and eventually, we became a struggling club. A club without a vision, fighting only for survival, and some fans believe that the Reedtz lack ambition? They aren't spending money? Be content, but wish for better but most importantly support the club, the players and the people putting in the effort.
  15. What is even more insane is that they are at £14.6m at losses, £10m of that being covered by their owner. Now, didn't the Reedtz write-off a large amount of debt from us? Yes, but some of that was historical debts and investments. Silly money for a club that could easily re-find themselves back in trouble at the wrong end of League Two. I don't wish it, I hope for their fans the owner starts to play it smarter but when you think of all the money involved. You have to ask, is it worth it? Can they sustain the large amount of losses without losing momentum and what will the future look like? You spend a lot, and sooner or later, owners will reduce their expenses. Fans become disillusioned and the club could very well be at risk.
  16. I was very happy, when I noticed Derby were winning 1-0 and found themselves in the playoffs. I watched Notts, then noticed Sheffield United had won 2-1. Super isn't that bothered, because he wants Derby to be good enough for promotion and he realises just how far they have come in recent years. It's nice to see them at the upper end of the table, and I am very sure they will do just as well next season. Today, I have finished off some new resources but I temporarily stopped to pop over a lasnaga that Cheeky had made, along with two meals from Mark C. I'm absolutely knackered, and that is because when I went to my dads. He stood near his back garden, using a strimmer like he was the grim reaper. Bless him, he didn't seem very stable and thankfully no arguments came from me taking over. I wished I had felt better to stay longer, but it was nice to see him. Coming home, I was struggling to move. I hadn't eaten, so that is part of it but Cheeky had to come meet me up. I am fine, I just need to make sure I have something, and don't forget.
