  1. I’m crossing all of my fingers and come Sunday, I’ll be wearing my lucky socks, boxers and shirt. Let’s hope for the best!
  2. Every season it seems like we might lose Ruben. It appears that his time here is almost certainly coming to an end. However, there is a chance that he may renew his contract based on his enjoyment of football, being settled and possibly a slightly better new contract. The signings this season have been smart and added extra quality. However, when the club loaned in Connor Lemonheigh-Evans, I felt that we actually needed a defender to come in due to all the injuries. Perhaps the coaching staff and Luke Williams thought Aden Baldwin and Richard Brindley would return sooner than later. Nevertheless, I would have preferred the gamble on a defender. This season has been excellent and our recruitment leaves me less worried about players leaving. I believe we can identify replacements and find a way to keep moving forward. My biggest concern comes from the playoffs, which leads me to agree that the defence needs improving next season. I would like depth and quality all over. I know it's a luxury at this level and money may be tight, but I do think it brings in results.
  3. I'm convinced that you're the only one who knows who the player is. Despite the massive clue, no one else has guessed it. You're incredibly good at this game. I'll leave the clue there for a bit longer, but please reveal the answer at some point. Next time, I'll be more subtle like a sneaky fox. Thanks!
  4. I’m not familiar with all of Derby County’s players, but it’s interesting to note that both of his names can be considered first names.
  5. Welcome @Kelly and @Prodigal Red, to the Pride of Nottingham website.
  6. I’m going for it! I’ll have to make the challenges more difficult because you’re too good at this, @Fozzy! I have a feeling that by the 10th round, you’ll have about half of the answers, if not more. Keep up the great work!
  7. Come on, this game was always going to be massive. From the moment the fixtures were released and we were top, to Wrexham taking the lead and us reclaiming first place, it was building to this point. It has to be the best away game of the season. Just because we lost doesn't change that. How quickly did it sell out? Easily the best away game of the National League 22-23.
  8. Welcome to PON, @JohnTheBost! We’re glad to have you here. Don’t forget to participate and cast your votes for the Pride of Nottingham awards
  9. I’m sorry, but I am unable to confirm or deny the question. However, I have a feeling that you may have come to the right conclusion.
  10. In my opinion, the season's highlight has to be Macaulay Langstaff's superb rebound goal against Yeovil on 18th February. It was an exceptional demonstration of skill and perseverance, and undoubtedly merits acknowledgement as one of the season's top goals.
  11. Whilst other supporters may have a different player in their thoughts, I believe that Matt Palmer has been the standout performer this season and deserves recognition for his significant contributions to the team. He has proven himself to be an essential and valuable member of the squad, making a notable impact in every game he's played. However, I acknowledge that everyone has their own opinions on who deserves the accolade of player of the season. Therefore, I would also like to acknowledge and commend the entire squad for their exceptional performances throughout the season. Every player has played a vital role in achieving the team's success, and they should all be proud of their accomplishments.
  12. The player in question is not Chris Iwelumo. From what I understand, he started his professional career at Stoke City, although his youth football is unknown. This would suggest that he began his career at Stoke City. He played just more than a handful of games for Notts County during his time with the team.
  13. I found myself in a dilemma while choosing whom to vote for, @Piethagoram or @menzinho, both worthy of my vote. However, in the end, I opted for @DangerousSausage, as there is an enigmatic quality to the Dangerous One that influenced my decision. Something about their style of commenting, perhaps their resilience to post when its quiet, or their ability to chip in with a discussion, convinced me that they deserved my vote.
  14. Macaualay Langstaff has unquestionably been the most influential signing for Notts this season. Without his vital goals, Notts wouldn't be occupying 2nd place. Although all of the mentioned players have played their role, it's impractical to disregard the colossal impact Langstaff has made. He's genuinely transformed the game for the team.
  15. @AmericanPie, Super Ram, @JIMBO, fozzy and @menzinho, Thank you all for taking part in this past round. A special congratulations to fozzy for guessing the correct answer - Mark Draper! Great job! Round Four: Clue: This former footballer signed for a total of 10 clubs before retiring in the 2000s. Although he started his career with The Potters, he also played for a Town for over 50 games and a United for just under 50 games. Points Table @Fozzy - 2 @super_ram - 1
  16. Notts County has done an excellent job in getting the best out of Cal Roberts and attracting a fee for his services, despite his injury issues. Goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks is a player to watch and has the potential to become the future number one for Notts. Lucien Mahovo is a promising player but needs more experience. Notts’ recruitment strategy has meant that the club relies less on other clubs’ youngsters, making it more difficult for players to progress. However, there are players under 24 who have the ability to play at a higher level than Leagu e Two and the National League.
  17. Lee Hughes is one Notts player that stands out for his ability to always know where the ball would be and somehow always manage to get in position to make the most of it. On his day, teams couldn't cope with him playing against them. I remember his celebration lifting everyone's spirit. It would be nice if some of the current players made this effort with fans, instead of celebrating with each other.
  18. It sounds like you had a great time watching Barcelona play both away at Rayo Vallecano and at home to Real Betis on TV. It's interesting to hear that even a top team like Barcelona can have wayward passes and that there are similarities in their style of play with Notts. It's great to see teams trying to pass the ball into the box and deliver corners first time into the penalty spot area. It would be nice to see Chicksen add the element of beating his man on the outside from a standing start to his game.
  19. It's not Jeff Astle. He also didn't play for the Rams either.
  20. There are some awesome pictures of the fans enjoying the game! It’s so nice to see the Faces of PON back and having a great time.
  21. This ex magpie was known for his impressive skills as a midfielder, and he helped x win the x Cup in 19xx. After retiring from professional football, he briefly came out of retirement to play for a non-league side.
  22. Under the management of Luke Williams, Adam Chicksen has demonstrated a renewed drive for success and has been playing exceptionally well. His determination to remain with the squad and fight for his position is commendable, particularly given that he seemed likely to depart before agreeing to a one-year contract extension.
  23. My apologies for any previous confusion @DangerousSausage. To clarify, what I intended to convey is that the two games that precede Notts County's game are played across two legs. I did not mean to imply that Notts County's home game would have an away leg. I am aware that this is a single game and a benefit of placing higher in the league.
  24. This season, Notts County has scored several goals that seem to be the outcome of skillful training and preparation. The team's proficiency in playing with intention and speed has enabled them to capitalize on opportunities and achieve their objectives. These remarkable goals are evidence of the team's and coaching staff's commitment and diligence. Witnessing the team's success on the field is a source of delight, knowing that their hard work is yielding results.
  25. I wish Notts would put extended highlights of their games on YouTube and make the full games available on the Magpie Player (or whatever it’s called these days). It would be great to have access to more in-depth coverage of the team’s performances and relive some of the best moments from each match. That’s why I won’t criticise the Maidstone highlights. For the level of their club, the quality of their footage is impressive and I don’t mean that in a belittling way. In fact, it’s probably one of the best in terms of video quality from a team you might not expect to see such good footage from.
