  1. It was a good result against a side that showed their quality last season. They may not have gone all out, but as a friendly, it’s a positive sign for Notts. Still, we’ll need to see how things go once the season kicks off before getting carried away. There’s always that bit of unknown until the real tests begin. I’m glad Jodi and Jatta played. They’re both key to how well we do, and having them involved early is a big plus.

  2. I don't think he would act the way he does if he wasn't just being himself. I like how he talks to the players and the way he goes about things.

If he gets angry, I don't know what he's like, so I can't really say. But if he's always calm and easy to talk to, and deals with stress well, he could be really good at motivating people. Then again, it didn’t do Sir Alex Ferguson any harm when he gave his players the hair dryer treatment.

  3. Hearts have a really nice stadium from the pictures I’ve seen on Google. I can’t say much about the gates at Meadow Lane.

I sit in the top half of the KOP and from up there you can see the Pavis Stand clearly. Sometimes the Family Stand looks quite empty, even though the attendance is about the same as when it looks full.

I don’t know if it’s the Pavis or KOP that has more people, or if the away fans help boost the numbers. But as long as we keep getting over 10,000, it shows the club is going in the right direction.

  4. I think Conor Grant goes quiet when other players like David McGoldrick stand out. He seems to do better when he gets more of the ball and starts the game well.

If he’s having an average game or finding it hard, he can go a bit unnoticed on the pitch. But even then, he can still do something that changes the game. His role this season should be more important, and I hope it is because I like what he brings to the team when he’s playing well.

  5. I’ve no idea where to begin with writing poetry, but I do enjoy reading it. Maybe one day I’ll give it a try for a bit of fun. I’ve seen other groups do word challenges with a set list to include in a poem, but I think I’d be way out of my depth with something like that.

Great poems, @Michael D Pie.. Please keep posting them.

  6. I don’t overthink it too much, but I do like that the Reedtz brothers are happy to invest in transfers. You can’t build a proper team using only free agents, you need a few established players in the mix. I agree that spending money on a keeper shows serious intent. Some fans aren’t keen on all the loan signings, but I think that’s more about filling gaps. I expect we’ll still bring in another two or three. If there’s a fee involved, I trust it’ll be for players who add real strength to the squad.

  7. Every time I return to PON, there are new members joining in. It’s great to see, and I honestly think once people settle and get used to things, they understand what it’s all about. It’s really encouraging. Today I’ve been sorting bits and pieces, getting ready for the full move at the weekend. The rain made a nice change, though it was only light and actually felt quite refreshing. Tomorrow I’ve got to head into the city centre to grab a few things. I reckon another couple of new members would feel better than any of Notts’ signings so far!

  8. Hello, @YoopEyes. It's brilliant to see you have returned, if you ever have any issues @Chris will sort them out and if its something a team member such as myself could assist with please do let me know.

You will fit straight in, and I hope to see more of your thoughts on our discussions. Welcome!

  9. Afternoon, all.

Nice to finally have a rainy day, isn’t it? Hopefully the sun comes back soon, but in a more natural way rather than those heatwaves we keep having. I’m off for an appointment about my leg, so I’ll be joining everyone else who’s waiting to be patched up.

Things are going well though. On the topic of moving, my girlfriend and I have decided to accept a friend’s offer to live with him. He’s been keen for a while now, and I hope he doesn’t regret it. We’re really grateful for the chance to find our own way without being stuck under our parents’ roofs.

I might have more news to share later on.

@TheSkipper, enjoy London, mate. You’ll smash those interviews!

  10. It might be a blessing that he was still a youth player at the time, and it depends on how open and honest he is about the incidents. If the FA see remorse, and that Lewis Macari hasn’t repeated it since (hopefully), they might give him some leeway.

Each case is always judged differently, and I’m hoping Macari won’t face such a long ban that he misses over a season. I know it’s a bit wishful, but what harm could he really have done while still at youth level? I suppose we won’t know until more about the case is made public.

  11. Someone like Jodi Jones might be a good choice, but he’s a bit quiet at times and still dealing with injuries. He would’ve been a strong candidate before breaking his leg. I don’t think Matt Palmer’s done anything wrong, but there are louder voices in the squad, which is why I reckon Jacob Bedeau would be the best option.

  12. Hello, @theAnticlough.

I thought I had welcomed you already, so I am a little disappointed to learn I haven't. We are a very friendly group of fans, that love talking all things Notts and as you will see it's about the community here. I am very pleased to see you joining in, once the season gets underway I hope you will be all settled in and continuing your fantastic start. It just takes a few people to start, share and we are well away with good open discussions.

  13. Notts hardly ever picks someone who’s new to the club, so I wouldn’t expect Ollie Norburn to be chosen. I think Jacob Bedeau is the better option compared to Matty Platt. Bedeau talks more on the pitch and plays at a higher level. This is one more reason why we’ll miss David McGoldrick, he would have been the clear choice for the role. As for Matt Palmer, this could help him concentrate on his own game and take away some of the pressure that certain fans keep putting on him.

  14. I think it's a decent effort! It's definitely better than that plain orange shirt from the other season. That one wasn’t the best design and didn’t have much about it. I’m happy with green shirts, to be honest. It feels very Nottinghamshire, and I’ll be keeping an eye out to grab one in my size once they’re available.

From what I’ve seen, most fans seem to like it. There haven’t been many negative comments, which is always a good sign. Sure, it won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I reckon it’s a strong shirt overall.

  15. Seeing the gaffer’s recent status got me thinking about songs that really mean something to me, and that’s what this discussion is all about. We might all be Notts fans, but I bet there are a few shared tastes too. Are there songs that stand out for you? Maybe they take you back to a certain time, remind you of your childhood, or just say something about who you are.

Is there a song that always stays with you no matter what? One that links to a memory or a moment in your life? Has its meaning changed over the years?

Sometimes there’s more than one track that does it. When you hear it, you’re straight back in that moment. For me, my Grandad loved The Beatles, and John Lennon was his favourite. Whenever I hear the piano at the start of "Imagine", it takes me back to summer weekends visiting him. That tune was often drifting in the background. It’s a gentle reminder of those days.

So what songs send you down memory lane? Don’t worry about being different or a bit sentimental, this is all about sharing and connecting. I think it’s fascinating what music means to people.

  16. Just because Notts are rumoured to be interested doesn’t mean it’s true, and even if they were, there’s no guarantee the player would pick us over other clubs. Some of the reaction online has been a bit much, with people tweeting the club after he’d already moved. We can’t expect to match every offer, and even if the league he’s gone to isn’t the strongest, we’re still four divisions below the top. It’s a good move for Sylvester Jasper. He seemed like a decent player, but some people were going on about stats from Wikipedia, forgetting he didn’t exactly shine at Colchester and has been playing abroad, like that proves anything.
