Alex certainly improved Notts defensively last season & along with the Notts defensive players they basically help Notts to get a playoff place. I'm very sorry to see him leave because he will be hard to replace in my opinion, but the Notts powers that be decided the price was right so I just have to trust their judgement. I wish Alex good luck at his new club. Peterborough have got themselves an excellent goalkeeper. I will be watching his progress with interest next season.

These things happen unfortunately. Not sure that it had anything to do with Alex Bass going to Peterborough, but I suppose it could have been a little awkward for him & the Notts players him going very suddenly. In the scheme of things it won't affect the Notts preparation. They do have plenty of friendly games in their calendar. It is always easy to arrange a behind closed door match. I'm sure Notts will be looking into it if they feel it's necessary.

Stuart Maynard is a top bloke who guided the Notts team to a playoff place. He will be remembered for that. It was a success story that could have been even better had he been given more support from January to May of 2025. II do wish him success during the rest of his football Management career. I hope that he will be offered a position elsewhere very quickly because I believe he can guide another club to success if given the opportunity..

Good evening everyone. It's been a fresher day here & the oppressive heat outside as gone, but it is still very warm inside the house. All fans at full blast haven't made much of an impression. It's still 78 deg F right now in the living room & bedroom. It's actually hotter inside to night than it was last night. That's what a brick wall does for you. It retains the heat for a few days after the hot weather has gone. There was a big storm brewing around 5pm this afternoon but it just missed us with just a few drops. Somewhere else must have got a downpour. Would have loved for it to be here. Watched some more Tennis today on the TV. Two Brits won today.

End of the third days play. Notts were 509 all out. A lead of 130 runs. Somerset were 4 for 1 at the close

I would leave it to the Notts recruitment team right now. I'm sure they are working their socks off to bring in the players that will strengthen the squad. They will have list of players that they have an interest in. They will have been approaching clubs who are offloading players, free agents, & those player's agents & talking to them at length. Some will turn down approaches but others will be interested at the right price. We have to bear in mind that Notts won't be prepared to pay over the odds for a transfer / signing on fee & salary, it's just not what the brothers do. Along with permanent transfers, I think that the Club will be looking for a loan deal for a season long agreement once again, probably from a PL club. A young, strong, attacking midfielder with lots of potential could be on the cards this time.

I don't like to speculate when the info is obtained from unofficial sources. I'd rather wait till Notts have made an announcement., but if it did have some truth to it I would regard it as a positive development. We certainly need another quality striker for this level. I'm not sure that Sylvester fits the out & out striker role, he looks more like a winger. He hasn't been a prolific goal scorer, but he does fit the type of player with his age who would attract interest from the Notts owners. Well just have to see how things develop over the next few hours & days.

Have we seen a landmark moment in Asian Club Football, when one of the top sides in the Saudi Arabian Pro League, Al Hilal, has beaten an English club, Manchester City in the last sixteen of the Club World Cup by 4 goals to 3 after extra time? Lots of money has been thrown into the Pro League over the last few years & many of their Premier Division sides have been buying top quality players from around the World. This result last night clearly shows that the Pro League is now to a very high standard & the league's top teams can compete with the best in Europe. Will this development be good or bad for football. Could it lead to the eventual formation of a European Super league or even a World Super League at the expense of the English Premier League & the rest of the football pyramid?
