I expect to see Martin Paterson field a strong side for the visit of Grimsby. Players like McDonald, Palmer & Longelo should feature in the starting eleven. As I've said previously on another thread, I don't think Martin knows what his strongest league side is yet, so there are still opportunities for players that are on the fringes.

It was a bad mistake from Longelo, but I do think it's a little harsh to not want to see him play for Notts again on the evidence of just a bad mistake & just 60 minutes football for Notts. It wasn't just Longelo that was at fault. The Reading goalscorer was allowed a free header at the back post. Hopefully Longelo will get a full game against Grimsby on Tuesday & we might be in a better place to make a judgement.

It's a great initiative by the Club and can help those supporters who cannot attend a match regularly. I'm all for it.

I've had an hour or so to reflect on another defeat. In the first five games of the season. Notts were an unknown quantity to the teams in League 1. We gave as much as we were given in those games and thoroughly deserved our unbeaten run. In the meantime other teams were studying the videos of our five games and planning how to deal with the Notts tactics & play against those tactics. From now on games are going to be much harder for Notts as opposing teams get to know our style & our strengths and weaknesses. As well as the tactical battle, last season we knew where the quality was going to come from, but at the moment we are still learning about the Notts players. A lesson for today is the fact that in a close match, moments of quality are going to win matches in League One. Hard work and intensity is all well and good & teams look like they aren't going to score many goals against us, but that makes moments of quality very important for Notts. It's important we have those moments in a game.

My standouts today are Jacob Bedeau, James Belshaw, Jack Evans, James Gibbons, & Matt Palmer. I thought Belshaw made some good saves especially in the 2nd half, Bedeau was his usual steady self, Jack Evans played well. Palmer steadied the team after a terrible start to the 2nd half when he came on as substitute. I could have easily have given the gong to Matt Palmer, but I thought James Gibbons was our best player on the pitch today.

Another disappointing defeat for Notts this afternoon. Which Notts player come out on top. A reasonable performance from the lads in the first half but not such a good 2nd half.

I think Notts have to field a strong B team on Tuesday to try to get a confidence winning performance against Grimsby

A tale of two halves again just like last week. Notts decent in th first half but not so good in the 2nd half. Reading had the quality goalscorer to put the ball away from two great crosses. Notts are lacking a cutting edge at the moment.

We've had the best of the few chances available. We need to put on of these opportunities away in games. Reading have come on strong during the 2nd half of the first half. Notts need to keep their concentration & focus at the start of the 2nd half
