The Poll has closed. Thanks to all who voted. I'm pleased to announce by popular choice, Ollie Norburn had been voted the Pride of Nottingham's Man of the Match v Walsall.

Like @Chris I thought that Stuart Maynard should have been given more time, & I was somewhat unconvinced when Martin was appointed, but I do believe now he was the type of Head Coach along with his personality that Notts needed to take them to the next level. Notts were a good Footballing side under Maynard & Stuart did improve our defence, but his Notts side were bullied out of games on many occasions, & I think that Martin has changed that. Notts are no longer the soft touch that they were. Another big change is Notts being able to win ugly when it's required. Martin has brought a togetherness to the squad where they work hard for each other & never stop running. One of the most important changes that Martin has done is his ability to make changes to the side during a game when it's needed. I thought Stuart tended to make substitutions not to change the game but just to rest players. I don't think the squad is any stronger on paper than it was last season, but it's stronger because the players are playing stronger together as a team, a team of togetherness & I think that's down to how Martin Paterson.leads & installs belief in them.

@Chris I did a little research & Notts are 6 points in front of where they were last season at the same stage. Notts scored 14 points from their last 11 matches, so Notts are in a better position points wise & form wise, so there is hope we can improve on last season's points total.

During Martin's interview after the Walsall match he reported that Scott Robertson picked up an injury in training & that was the reason for his absence. It could be a knee injury. He's having tests and scans to ascertain the extent of the injury. Will Hinchy be recalled again from his new loan spell to give cover? We'll have to see. No news on when Jatta is likely to return. Martin didn't want to discuss it. Palmer failed a fitness test before the Walsall match.

I have to agree with @Piethagoram & choose Norburn for his two moments of quality that went a long way in getting Notts the win. Those two moments of quality could have easily been witnessed in a PL match.

@Chris I included the subs in the players list today because I believed they were game changers today. Just an observation, but sometimes I get the impression that some players aren't comfortable against sides that play a certain way. When Grant & Hall had been struggling & when they were replaced, Norburn seemed to improve. & the team played more cohesively, with a small change in shape. It seemed to me that Norburn showed a lot of vision with that cross field pass to Kouhyar. He has a bigger string to his bow than some imagine.

What a sublime cross field pass from Norburn to Kouhyar, & then Kouhyar's fantastic cross that found Jodi to head the winner. A great move that demonstrates the Notts County way of playing for all to see.

What a goal this was from Ollie Norburn, & it wasn't just the goal, he hardly celebrated & wanted the Notts players to get back to business to win the game. That's the sign of a leader

What a fantastic win for Notts. The win was just a typical Martin Paterson win away. Notts struggled for 70 minutes but the substitutions made all the difference. Massive massive win. Whether we deserved it is another matter on the play, but the team stuck at it & some of Martin's subs changed the game today. Other matches have gone in our favour too, and we find ourselves in 4th place tonight.
