Weekly Chat Mon 7th - Sun 13th October
Good Afternoon. The Sun is out for a time but it's very cloudy. We had rain overnight here but not as much as forecast We might get some impact from ex Hurricane Kirk, now Storm Kirk, later on this week, which will largely impact France. There will be plenty of rain in that storm, but most of the worst of it should miss us here. Looking outside still plenty of Bees working hard on our prairie flowers.

- Are Notts making progress this season??
I think that Notts have improved regarding players up front being able to defend when required. I think that Stuart demands that trait from his forwards. We have seen Didzy making a last ditch clearance off the line & Jatta heading away corners. As far as Nemane was concerned, he was great going forward but not so defending. I maybe understand why he was released. I believe Notts are becoming a better all round side this season compared to the Williams era.- Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham Richard Eley!
A big welcome from me @Richard Eley PON is a friendly place & a great community to talk about Notts & things in general.- Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Valiants (H)

@Super_Danny_Allsopp Notts are one point behind the league leaders. They have scored 17 & only conceded 9. Williams had conceded 19 goals at the same stage last season. Have faith. Stuart will work it out. He's done quite a lot to improve the team already.- Post Match Interview | Peterborough United (H) | Shoniqua Barnes
The ladies can be very proud of their performance today against the league leaders. It just shows how far they have come, compared to last season. It demonstrates that they can now compete with all the teams in this league if they play well.- Are Notts making progress this season??
@Wheelbarrow repair man Notts are just one point behind the leaders on 18 points. Last season at the same stage under Williams we were top on goal difference with 20 points but leaking goals like a sieve. We continued to leak goals and dropped down the league like falling off a cliff because our defence wasn't up to it This season we have a very good defence & we are still scoring goals, the 2nd highest in the league to date. I don't see any reason why Notts cannot be there or there abouts come Xmas.- Faces of PON 24-25: Port Vale (H)
It's great work you are doing @Chris Memories are being made and recorded that will last for generations to come.- Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Valiants (H)
Hey guys. We sit on 18 points one point behind leaders Walsall. Are things that bad. I don't think so.- Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Valiants (H)
@Super_Danny_Allsopp I think 2 is very harsh on Maynard. He played what he thought was his best eleven & you have to remember that Notts have 4 of their best players out, including their best, Jodi. It will take a few games for the team to adjust to his loss. With Maynard you just have to look at the bigger picture. He's sorted out the defence, which has improved immeasurably. Apart from the one goal conceded, the defence played well & the team created chances, but we just didn't take them. For the 10 games so far I'd rate Stuart 7.5/10- Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Valiants (H)
@Joshua Cundy was sent upfront late on to do a job for Stuart. It's not his natural position but you have to give him Kudos for trying. He nearly scored late on too- Notts County Women v Peterborough United
- Who is your Notts Man of the Match v Port Vale?
The Poll is now closed & it's been a close race between Dan Crowley & Kelan Gordon for man of the match. I am pleased to announce by a small majority, that Dan Crowley is the PON Man of the Match against Port Vale Thank you to all who voted- Are Notts making progress this season??
I looked up some interesting Statistics comparing the League 2 table of the 6th Oct 2023 with the table today Notts were top of the table this time last year on goal difference after 10 games. They were on 20 points. They had scored 23 goals but conceded 19 with a goal difference of +4. This season they are on 18 points in fifth place 1 point behind the top team. They have scored 17 goals & conceded 9 with a goal difference of +8 So this season the team has conceded 10 goals less than at the same time last season. So I think that shows that Notts have improved defensively, but have scored 6 less goals. Stuart is trying to get the balance right between having a good defence & having a successful attack. At the moment I think he has the balance just about right. What he has to solve is the team opening up teams at home who are prepared to sit back & wait for opportunities up front. Maybe he needs to play two strikers at home, with wing backs that can get behind defenders. Funnily enough, when playing away, Notts get more space to create better chances, because teams at home want to attack Notts more It will be interesting to see how things develop in the next 10 matches- Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Valiants (H)
@CliftonMagpie To give him credit, Stuart put Cundy up front & Cundy extracted a good save from their goalie, so putting him up there nearly paid off, but I agree, at home we need two up front. We missed Didzy, who could have been the second striker- Notts County Women v Peterborough United
@Chris after Notts had taken a 3:0 lead, Peterborough scored almost immediately near to half time. They were always gone to come out all guns blazing & got the early second half goal. Notts did well to hold them until the 80th minute then conceded a disputed penalty, that allowed the Posh to equalise. The team will learn from this, but it does show how far they have come from last season.- UK Weather Watch.
Your Sunday Evening Weather- Stuart Maynard Laments Offside Decision in Port Vale’s Decisive Goal Against Notts County
Notts were the better side & on a different day would have scored in the first 20 minutes. Teams are going to come to meadow lane & sit back and just wait for opportunities. Notts need to be able to counter this because it will happen at every home game just like last season. In this match we missed Jones, Didzy, Grant & Edwards. Notts need to be more incisive up front to break these teams down. I hope that lessons will be learned for the next home match.- Notts County Women v Peterborough United
Notts lose by an odd goal in seven, but they can be so proud of their performance today, especially in the first half against a top side. Notts were ahead until the 80th minute and gave Peterborough a right scare. - Jokers Wild: Joke Of The Day.
