  1. Stuart Maynard has certainly transformed the Notts County fortunes this season so far. Just one defeat in eleven matches since the start of the season. In what ways do PON members believe Notts have improved under Stuart & do you think that he can improve the team even further?
  2. There could be a very strong storm, (ex hurricane) affecting southern parts by Tuesday or Wednesday next week. "1/3 Hurricane Kirk has strengthened to a powerful category 3 hurricane & this loop shows a clearly defined eye & Hurricane Kirk moving northwest at 10 mph in the mid-Atlantic"
  3. This will be another important game for Notts to try to win. The win at Carlisle was a great win which demonstrated the quality of the Notts squad, but also demonstrated their ability to adapt to different styles of play. Notts need to continue that trait against Port Vale too. I suspect that Stuart will try to pick his strongest side once again. McGoldrick will figure after he has been rested in midweek. I expect that Robertson will maintain his place & continue his partnership with Palmer in midfield. I also think that Stuart will retain Austin & Gordon in the first 11. So my team would be Bass, Macari, Platt, Bedeau, Gordon, Tsaroulla, Robertson, Palmer, Crowley, Austin & Jatta. Subs, Slocombe, Cundy McGoldrick, Grant, Scott & Abbott. Key areas will be all over the pitch. Notts will need to adapt and change styles if required. I think it will be a close game but I think that Notts will edge it maybe 2:1.
  4. The same could be said for the situation today.
  5. I think Alex Bass's performance is the best match performance we've seen from a Notts goalkeeper for a while. It's great to know that Notts have a very competent number one between the sticks. Having a good goalkeeper not only prevents conceding goals, but also gives the defence in front of him confidence too. The back line needs a goalkeeper that can command his area & organise his colleagues in defence, & Bass is good at all those things.

  7. Good Morning. Still overcast this morning but the Sun is breaking through. Rather chilly with a definite Autumnal feel to it. Looks like it may be fine enough to get out into the garden for a while & do some tidying up. Have begun walking again after a few weeks rest. Will start off with doing a mile then build up to a couple a day. Other plans will be helping the wife indoors. Did you know? The Royal Manor of Mansfield was held by the King. In 1042, King Edward the Confessor possessed a manor in Mansfield.

  9. Your absolutely right @Wheelbarrow repair man There will always be interest from other clubs if he gets a good number of goals this season. Hopefully he'll help Notts get promoted so we can possibly hold on to him. Of course there will still be interest in Jodi & Dan & even with some of our defenders like Platt & maybe even Alex, if he keeps performing. But that's for the future to deal with. For now let's just enjoy what we have & what the possibilities are with this team.
  10. The Poll is now closed. I'm delighted to announce that the PON Man of the Match v Carlisle with an overwhelming majority is ALEX BASS. Congratulations Alex Thank you to all the PON members that voted.
  11. Update on Alassana's goal total. He's been absolutely phenomenal.
  12. Welcome to our PON community @Jackie May
  13. We didn't know that Jatta or Robertson were fit to play a full game last night till the team sheet came out. It's good that the opposition don't know until an hour before.
  14. @liampie sometimes if a player is in any doubt, kick it out or upfield. We can be pussyfooting around at the back to a high press then lose possession deep in our half. We had too much of that last season & we paid dearly. I loved the fact that Bass went direct & found Jatta who scored. We need to do a little more of that & keep our opponents guessing. But I do agree that a downside of blindly kicking the ball upfield does result in it coming back a lot of the time when a team is defending deep, like Notts were for a lot of the time in the second half. It's an interesting conundrum when a team is bent on defending its lead.
  15. Brilliant all round performance by Notts. I think it was the best performance of the season. The Notts attribute tonight. Skill & flair in the first half, grit, determination & stubbornness in the second half. That could be a great recipe for success this season.
  16. This side is Stuart Maynard's side & the side that he has built is proving very adaptable in changing styles and tactics if it is necessary. In the first half we saw the Notts County flair, in the second half we saw character, stubboness & grit to keep Carlisle out. Stuart has to take great credit in installing all these traits into the Notts team. He must be absolutely delighted with his players, & the owners must be delighted with him too
  17. Is Alex Bass the best signing of the season?
  18. Well done Jodi. Richly deserved.
  19. These Countries below are not going to follow the UK's example of shutting down it's coal fired electricity generation anytime soon if ever. Meanwhile they have a distinct advantage over British industry by having much cheaper energy to make their products. China last year generated over 60% of its electricity from coal. Many of these emissions end up being embedded in consumer products used in Britain. China is not the most coal intense economy, either. South Africa generates around 80 per cent of its power in this way, India 75 per cent & Indonesia 60 per cent. These are big users.
  20. Such a sad & unnecessary closing. The UK will be worse for it. As I've said in another thread. Other Countries will be laughing their socks off, with this delusional race to National self harm.
  21. This has been going on since July. If it is a Wallaby, it seems to be surviving ok. Question will be when it gets much colder or it becomes a harsh winter. Can it survive through the winter if it is not caught by then?
