An Introduction To Ryley Reynolds
Ryley Reynolds has featured in all four preseason games for Notts so far & he is getting plenty of experience playing with the senior players. He accompanied the squad to train in the Netherlands, then on to play a friendly with the German 4th tier side Duisburg & played the full 90 minutes in midfield for Notts. The young midfielder has recently signed his first professional contract with the club. The 18 year-old put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal, much to the delight of academy manager Dan Leivers. He said: “Ryley has been a mainstay in the B Team for two years and has probably been our most consistent player across that time, contributing goals and assists from midfield. “He’s incredibly hard-working and a very technical player who does the simple things, as well as the special things, really well. “Everyone in the academy is really happy to see Ryley have his incredible efforts rewarded and we really appreciate the club giving him this opportunity. “Ryley is a product of our relationship with Nottingham College, which highlights the innovative pathways we’re creating to help players make it as professional footballers.” It appears that Ryley has the confidence of Head Coach Stuart Maynard, & I wonder if Ryley will feature on the bench when the league season begins? By all accounts he has impressed so far in those four games, so I think Ryley will be one to keep an eye on.

Was It A Done Deal?
If what you say is true @Wheelbarrow repair man and I'm not saying that it is, I will go back to the very fact that in the January window my question would be, why didn't Notts get in a couple of defenders either by fee or loan to bolster the defence if Notts knew Macca was leaving? It would be inconceivable that Notts would not try to reach the playoffs at least before he left. Why would Macca want to go if we got promoted to league one & then had an opportunity to challenge for the Championship in 2026? I just think there are other factors at work here. The opportunity came to recruit Jatta, Scott was coming back from injury & maybe Macca's wages were high & Notts needed to balance the books a little. No matter what the reasons for his leaving, he is gone. Notts will move on and a new Notts hero will emerge, it could be Jatta, it could be Scott, it could be someone new. I'm more concerned at this moment with the side of the squad that needs increasing by four good signings. If Notts do that, then Notts have a chance to write more glory in 2025. Macca is now part of Notts's history. Notts will go on as they always do & make more history.

The Palais
That place was our go to place every Friday night for quite a while. Met my first wife & mother of my three children there 49.5 years ago. There was a live group playing on the top floor at the time "You ain't seen nothing yet" Then there was the disco on the bottom floor. It was called Bali Hai Girls dancing around their handbags.Avoided those who asking for a brandy & babycham. Pint of Lager 50 p a pint. That was expensive then

Good job we didn't play Jatta or still had Macca then. I noticed on the ticker that they mentioned Jodi a few times too.

@DangerousSausage Just wondering if a ticker here would go against those stringent broadcasting rules we have on live games. I also wonder if Notts can only give info on games a certain number of times over 90 mins on their twitter feed for example?

The Notts County Squad 2024/25
After our latest friendly with Duisburg where we lost the match in the last 10 minutes after a reasonable display. Notts were leading comfortably for most of the game before the substitutions. My point is this, Notts are usually very quiet about injuries, but if we do have injuries to players just three weeks till the start of the season, we are painfully thin on squad numbers after several players were released this past Two weeks. The incomings have seemed to have dried up since the time that Macca left, I'm not saying his leaving has anything to do with the lack of signings, but it does make you think. We have a senior squad of 21 players and with the rumour that Morias may go, that reduces to 20. That's five senior players short and the time to the beginning of the season gets ever closer. Notts are also trialing players too. Notts need to recruit quality, and usually look at the stats & playing history of players before making a decision on a player first before recruiting them. Does trialing players reveal that Notts have the info, but are not yet sure of them? There has to be quality players still available, the transfer window started so positively and with this lull in movement, it's a bit of a cause for concern. It maybe that Notts will have to replace Macaulay like for like and spend some money too on players before the start of the season.

It was a good performance by Notts for the first 80 minutes or so. Looks like we are putting together a good defensive unit. We look to be a bit thin on the ground in the centre of midfield. I can only assume that Stuart doesn't want to risk Palmer just yet. Jatta nor Morias figured in the side today. I wonder if the transfer rumours regarding Morias are true? McDonald, Edwards, Austin nor Tsaroulla figured either, I wonder if they are injured? Notts put on three youngsters after 64 mins and it was good experience for them. Ryley Reynolds featured in midfield again. Unfortunate to concede those goals after such a good performance for 80 mins, but it looks like we know what the defensive unit will be when the football begins for real in 3 weeks.

Dissapointing. Duisburg score three goal in the last 10 minutes after a good Notts defensive display for 80 minutes. Looks like the heat got to them Lesson learned here. Final score Duisburg 3 Notts 1

@DangerousSausage I do like the ticker. It appears to be on the Duisburg website. It's a very good tool. Notts could learn a thing or too with what I've seen of it today. Is it usual for German clubs to have tickers?
