  1. Weather for Friday Afternoon
  2. What a transformation the brothers have made to our club since taking over the ownership of Notts County on this day five years ago. So much positivity around the club & with Notts now on a firm financial footing, not forgetting the memories made that will never be forgotten, & further great memories to come too.
  3. It's great news that the Palais is reopening with it's original name. Will they be holding a nostalgic oldies night, 65 plus only, to invite the old regulars? Grab a granny night, excuse the pun.
  4. A nostalgic look back when a junior could go & stand to watch your favourite team very cheaply for half a crown or so, (15 p), before the match get a pie chips and peas for a shilling (5 p) & a programme for less than 6d. (1967 prices) Lived at Cotgrave at that time & you could get a return on Bartons buses for less than shilling. Used to get 5 shillings (25 p) a week pocket money so it went a long long way in those days. Supplemented it in the summer potato picking 10 shillings per day.
  5. Beautiful morning here in Mansfield, although they do forecast showers for the afternoon. Things just look so brighter when it's sunshine. Not anything planned for today. Might sit out of or an hour if it stays fine. Olympics are beginning in Paris. I particularly like the track & field and cycling, but any sport with Brit interest will be following. Notts play tomorrow at York City of course, so looking forward to that game. There will be the obligatory garden work for an hour or too. Happy weekend everyone.
  6. This is a thread to discuss British Successes in the Paris Olympic Games 24. Let's hope that the Brits can have a successful Games once again. Hold on to your hats.
  7. In my opinion "wind power" is definitely NOT the answer. China & India don't think it's the answer either, but that's for another thread.
  8. Your Weather for Friday Morning
  9. @Fozzy Looks like Notts are willing to take the risk on him. Might be something written into his one year contract, with reference to his past injuries, but we will wait and see He's a good player at this level so if he can stay injury free he will figure in the starting line up for sure.
  10. For me it is Luke Williams because he got Notts promoted back to the Football League.
  11. I don't think that the decline of the UK as a manufacturing powerhouse is down to any political decision as such. It is much more down to a case of economics. Steel production is made much more cheaply in China & India to begin with. Clothes are made much cheaper in those Countries too. The middle man in this Country would rather get cheap goods that can be manufactured much more cheaply abroad, so they can sell them on with bigger profit margins, than if they bought from a British manufacturer. Nowadays the consumer would rather buy cheap inferior goods from abroad rather than buy good quality goods from here. I know that, I've done it myself.
  12. Then Notts should have given Junior a chance. Scott hasn't proved his fitness yet, so if Notts can't afford to pay for another striker, getting one in on a free while sending one out on loan doesn't make much sense.
  13. I'm really sad to see Junior go. He should have been given more opportunities. Notts have a brilliant midfield and wingers that give our strikers plenty of chances. I'm sure that Junior would have been successful if he had been given a run.. There's probably more to it than we know I think. How do we know that a new striker will be any better than Junior, unless Notts are prepared to pay money for one Then the question is, why did they allow Macaulay to go?
  14. @Wheelbarrow repair man sad but true. We don't make enough steel to even help produce the raw material to make the coins. It's just like an industrial revolution in reverse. It's very hard to understand why this is happening. There's something very wrong happening to our once great Country. It's very disturbing.
  15. Welcome to Notts Robbie. It's great to get another strong, tall and skilled defender. Notts now have great squad strength in the defensive area now.
  16. Following an impressive trial period, we're delighted to welcome defender Robbie Cundy to Meadow Lane!
  17. The Royal Mint is to stop making coins from scratch after 1,100 years with staff breaking up circuit boards for gold instead. Instead of producing its own coins from raw steel, the Mint will now purchase 'blanks', plain discs, which have not been struck with the coin design, from abroad when stocks run out. Plans are to import the "coin blanks" from Turkey & Germany https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/saving/article-13671559/Royal-Mint-stop-making-coins-scratch-1-100-years-staff-mining-circuit-boards-gold-instead.html
  18. Manager Adam Dunleavy reflects on the inter-team friendly that took place last weekend.
  19. Senior Squad is now down to 20 players again, We certainly need an incoming striker now. Hope that Notts have one in the pipeline. A Squad of just 20 is nor big enough. Stockport, Wrexham & Mansfield proved that last season with their big squads.
  20. Good luck to Junior. Hope he gets plenty of game time.
