  1. Some of the largest and lowest attendances at the old ground since 1925 https://carouseldrivefootballs.on.drv.tw/utm/maggies10.html?20231226H:~19250701
  2. @liampie The old ground was past it's best, the meadow lane end terrace was damaged in some areas, the county road side upper tier was made of wood, the Cop was massive. When we scored, fans in the County Road side would stamp their feet and the wood made such a racket. Repairs were carried out on the terracing but the wooden stand would never have passed after the Bradford City fire. The stadium was capable if holding about 35,000 even at that time. I remember the game at home to Scunthorpe in 1971 when we won the league, it was teaming down with rain, but there were over 16,500 in that ground.
  3. When Didzy is on song we are really rolling.
  4. I believe a priority is getting goalkeeping cover, An experienced centre back, & a defensive midfielder who are all experienced to League 1 level. I think we are okay in the attacking areas They should be fit enough to get straight into the team if required. A goalkeeper that commands is area, deal with crosses, & can distribute well. The Central defender should be tall, good in the air & mobile. The defensive midfielder who can run forever, doesn't mind getting stuck in & can inspire the rest of the team. I don't have anyone in mind, maybe members will know who can fit the bill.
  5. Macca back to doing what he does.
  6. @Piethagoram what a record breaking year we have witnessed. I thought I had seen it all, over the last 53 years or more. Notts are making more history and how.
  7. Good article on Luke Rodgers. We had a great squad which won the league. If things had been different he, like many others in that squad, would have stayed and who knows where we had been now?
  8. I'm sure Luke will get us through this rough patch and get us in a position to challenge for automatic promotion. I'm sure at the beginning of the season we would have settled for where we are now. A few good wins into the new year will be back on track.
  9. Great Article on Kasper. He was massive in goal for us in that unforgettable promotion year If things had been different, I'm sure Kasper would have spent a few more seasons with us helping us to get back to the top tier of English football, but it wasn't to be. I'd take him right now to bolster our defence, because I believe he really was colossal in between those sticks.
  10. Another great article about a Notts great. He's one of our own. Imagine 'Killer' being at the heart of our defence right now? We would be unstoppable in this league
  11. Well there's one thing. The only way is up????
  12. @DangerousSausage Looks like I need some practice ????
  13. Arthur was another legend who played under Jimmy Sirrel in his great sides.
  14. I agree @liampie the clean sheet was a good moral booster going into a 4 game period that we have every chance of winning.
  15. Danny Allsopp was an excellent striker for us during a relatively quiet period for our club
  16. Brian Stubbs, one of our own: Another fantastic player and yet another Notts legend that helped Notts go from the 4th to the Ist Division. Have fond memories of watching him play. Just imagine if we had Brian and David playing in defence for us now under Luke.
  17. Informative article once again. @Joe JonesIt is always interesting to read how the careers of Notts players panned out. Dave Watson began and ended his footballing career with Notts County. Interestingly, one of a number of players that began their career as a forward but became an established international defender for England.
  18. Agree with you @Countyman No game in league 2 is easy, however we have a great opportunity to win our next 4 matches before we meet Stockport at home.
  19. He was a good player for Notts and another player who was part of our success story in our rise to the old first division.
  20. I am really enjoying reading these Notts Alumni articles. A lot of work has gone into them. Jonathan was a good player for Notts and his loan periods with our club just demonstrates how the loan system can work. And his debut hat trick was really something.
  21. Agree @B&Wstripes it is a very welcome win. Every game is difficult in league 2, but we have some very winnable games coming up, & if we could win those, we could see ourselves in the automatic promotion positions again, just as the Jan window arrives.
  22. Great Article about Ian Richardson. Ian was very loyal to our club when many would have moved on. He's a true hero to our club.
  23. A great player who is one of our own. What great times this club had and Mark had a big part to play in that success too.
  24. Another enjoyable read from this excellent thread. Donald was another player that played an important contribution to Notts County success over the years.
  25. I was pleased with our performance, but they were shocking.
