  1. It's never nice to have to go through any operation even when you know it is going to improve your life. I wish Paul a speedy recovery.
  2. I believe this slight change in formation where Macaulay has been given a free roll behind Didzy had worked well for us this last 3 games, Doncaster nor Morecambe could deal with it. I agree @Fozzy that Tranmere's form has picked up as late and we need to cut out the mistakes at the back to a minimum. It will be interesting how Tranmere play the game, whether they will let us have the majority of possession, like most teams have done this season,.and hope to hit us on the break, or keep more of the ball themselves.

  4. Yes, there's all to play for, starting against Tranmere at Prenton Park on the first day of the year. Let's make it a great start to the year U PIES.
  5. Thanks @Fan of Big Tone
  6. I'm impressed with the Pride of Nottingham site. I have enjoyed the discussions & hoping to become a member who can contribute to this community and add something to it too.
  7. Appreciate the information.
  8. Great goal by Macaulay. He's so deadly either inside or outside the box.
  9. I agree @Chris When you look at other sporting icons & those outside sport, who were more deserving of recognition & didn't get it. This seems to happen a lot.
  10. I agree @Piethagoram about Jimmy. A Manager that took a club from the 4th Division up to the Ist should have had more recognition from the powers that be. The achievement may never ever be repeated.
  11. As a result of last night's game against Morecambe, Luke, Macaulay & Dan have been included in the team of the week.
  12. Pleased for our local sporting heroes, & especially pleased for Howard Wilkinson. He deserves it for his work in Football and his charity work.
  13. I agree. If there is a bid in for Langstaff from a Championship club & I hope there isn't, it has to be £5million minimum. He's too valuable an asset to even consider less than that.
  14. Albert William Fisher (Feb 1881 – 4 Dec 1937) was an English professional footballer who scored 23 goals from 56 appearances in the Football League playing as an inside forward for Aston Villa, Bristol City & Manchester City. He also played for Southern League clubs Brighton & Hove Albion, Bradford Park Avenue, Queens Park Rangers, Coventry City and Merthyr Town. As player-manager, he led Merthyr Town to the Southern League Second Division title in 1911/12. Albert joined Notts County as Secretary Manager, (that's what they called Managers then), succeeding the previous Manager, Tom Harris in Aug 1913 & Managed the club through World War 1 till May 1927. He guided Notts to the Division 2 title in the 1913/14 and 1922/23 seasons. In all Albert Managed Notts over 444 matches, winning 167, drawing 114, & losing 163 with a win percentage of 39.62% (source Google) Albert is another Notts County great that got us promoted twice into the top tier of English Football, & thus cementing his legendary status at our club.
  15. I agree with these posters. Having been watching football for over 55 years I have seen a decade by decade improvement in the standard of football over all the four top divisions and the top tier of non league. The top six teams challenging for promotion from League 2 this year could easily compete in the 2nd tier of 25 years ago in my opinion. And I believe the Premier League has lifted this standard all round, although there remains a big gulf between Premier League & the Championship.
  16. The attendance against Morecambe was 9,786 including 179 away supporters. A great turnout for a night match against a mid table side.
  17. It was always going to be hard to replace Ruben, but in Dan we have a real gem.. Not only is he an excellent playmaker, he also adds to our threat up front too, by the way he glides Into the opposition penalty box like a.centre forward,, to get on the end of those crosses. It certainly gives Notts an extra dimension up front too.
  18. That is some display from the team tonight. Luke changed the system a little for the Stockport match and Macca has a much freer role and now he's all over the pitch, but it doesn't stop him popping up in the box when needed. He's some player isn't he.
  19. 8 goals for 0 conceded in two games. Just what the Doctor ordered.
  20. What can you say about Macaulay Langstaff? A beautiful hat trick tonight including a penalty. All in all it's been a great night for Notts now only 4 points behind second place, we stand in 5th place on 42 points.
  21. A fantastic end to the year.
  22. What a first half by the lads.
