  1. Really lovely story. Not just a fantastic supporter of Notts, Wendy's dedication to her charitable work is admiral & an example to us all.
  2. Really good article on Jim. Jim has been a key figure in our recent successes due to his adaptability & flexibility to cover a variety of different positions on the pitch when he was called upon.
  3. I'm a newbie and have just got round to reading this really good article from @Magpie Bill about our successful journey from National league & back to the EFL. Thanks to the new owners this was made possible. And credit should go to Neil Ardley & Ian Burchnall who both laid down the foundation for our success too. They may have come up short themselves, but they played their part in the success story that Luke was able to complete by his brilliant Management, which in turn, took us over the line in the end. And not forgetting those shrewd signings that helped just a little bit too.
  4. Great read about Ben Davies. He was a very good player for Notts.
  5. Luke has identified where the problems are and he's ready to go into the upcoming transfer window to strengthen the areas where we are lacking in defence, midfield & goalkeeper. I'm sure Luke Knows who he wants out of the players who will be available during the January window. Now that Macari has signed permanently, that gives us another option on the loan front too. Maybe go for a goalkeeper here to cover for Sam. I'm confident Luke will sort it.
  6. I'm a newbie just like you. Welcome @StanfordPie Newbies aren't newbies for long.
  7. Like with every Notts fan, I've gone through every emotion following this Club. This club has something special about it. The history, the successes tinged with the failures, the ups, & the downs, Witnessing milestones like 3k, 4k & 5k league matches Privileged to see 3 great Managers and witnessing us going from the Fourth to the First Division. And last but certainly not least, being part of this great and loyal fanbase that have played their part in the success of the club. Long may it continue.
  8. I believe in Luke Williams & I am convinced that he will get us out of the blip in form, & turn things around in the new year. To be still in sixth place and challenging for a play off spot halfway through the season. I'm sure many Notts fans would have settled for that at the beginning of the campaign.
  9. I believe this is a great signing for Notts. Lewis is an exciting young player that has loads of potential to grow, and I look forward to seeing his further progression in the black and white.
  10. Macaulay has written himself into Notts County folklore with his goals that got us back into the Football League. I just hope that he will stick around at Meadow Lane for a few years because he can certainly make more history for Notts & help us to climb that Football pyramid.
  11. Notts Country is a founding member of the Football League and now has 5000 league matches behind them. What a fantastic achievement and what a legacy to have. I'm so immensely proud of my club.
  12. Agree. The officials in Rugby & Cricket seem to be clued up and work with their VAR system much better than the Football officials do. I thought that VAR was supposed to eliminate most of the mistakes by the Ref but it is clearly not doing that at all. VAR is actually causing even more controversy.
  13. Again, expert analysis by Mark. I agree that we are lacking inspiration on the pitch at this time. I believe that confidence leads to an inspired performance & confidence is clearly on the low side following a poor set of results. I do believe that we could do no wrong by signing a player with a presence on the pitch, who's prepared get stuck in, a bit of a hard man, tall, strong, & can lead & inspire others on the pitch, a Brian Kilcline type. I'd also sign an additional defender, defensive midfielder & additional attacker. I also believe our tactics should be a little different for away matches being a little more defensive & rely on the quick break more.We have shown that we can create & score goals playing in different ways. We will always be a threat to any side with our forward line. In the end it is Luke that has to get things right, and I'm confident he'll do that.
  14. I've reserected this thread because VAR is in the news again, and I'm asking what's the point of VAR? The whole system needs a total revamp, because in it's present state, it is not fit for purpose. The authorities should even consider suspending it. Every match that uses VAR there is controversy over a decision by the Referee or the VAR team. There is confusion over interpretation of the VAR rules. VAR is missing critical events in a game, then the authorities say VAR cannot rule on that incident VAR is becoming a total farce and changes need to be made. I believe VAR should be either allowed to rule on more incidents and the VAR officials given more powers, otherwise trim VAR down to goal line decisions and ruling over yellow and red cards only. World football really needs to address the VAR problem and the FA need to be leading on this too.
  15. I believe Luke is the best Manager to take us forward and possibly get us into the playoffs at the end of the regular season. I love to see passion in a Manager and Luke has lots of that. I believe it only needs the right players to come in at the January window to turn our fortunes around, and I want some of Luke's passion transferred into the way we play too. In the new year, I'd like to see the 50 point mark achieved first then push on from there.
  16. Hello @StanfordPie Welcome to PON. Great to have you onboard.
  17. On the whole it was a much better performance by the lads tonight. We needed to be near our best and I believe we were. Unfortunately we once again became undone with silly errors. I am encouraged to see that we are still scoring goals in virtually every game we play. Cut out the silly errors defensively and we can still finish in and around the playoffs. January transfer window will probably decide our season.
  18. I thought it would be a score draw tonight. Like you pleased with the performance and it could have easily turned out a much better result tonight.
  19. Agree. We competed very well with them. We know we can score against any team in this league & we did again tonight. Cut down those goals conceded then we can start winning matches again & rise up that table.
  20. Much better performance, punished for silly mistakes at the back again. Stockport are a top side and we gave them problems. Have to take our chances though. Transfer window gets more and more important. We need two defenders, a defensive midfielder and a striker. Sort out the mistakes and we will make the play offs.
  21. I heard Luke has been linked to the Swansea job too over the last few days. It's the usual media speculation. Luke has a project to complete at Notts and I hope he stays with Notts and he continues to make history here.
  22. Strong team for tonight's match
  23. One thing is for sure, Maca has been making history of his own, by his record goal scoring that gave us back our league status, and his continued success at this higher level. Long may it continue.
  24. Our defence is going to be key tonight. I'm sure Luke has been working on this flat out in training. I genuinely believe that if the opposition do not score we can win every single game we play. We have arguably the best attacking force in the league. If our defence had played anywhere near to what they could have done, we could have been leading this league by several points by now. I'm hoping for a draw tonight because that would be an excellent result for us. Stockport, apart from their 8:0 win, have been leaking goals of late, so a score draw could be a possibility. If we are still in a playoff position at the end of the year that would still be a success, with the January transfer window approaching.
