  1. There are many positive aspects to consider. However, it’s crucial for Stuart Maynard to improve his performance, especially if he plans to stay for the next season. Personally, I don’t believe the board will let him go. Our options for attack are quite impressive. With the right recruitment, the team can be further strengthened. Just maintaining our position in the Football League is an achievement in itself.
  2. With only five matches remaining in the season, it appears highly unlikely that Stuart Maynard will be dismissed due to the team’s poor performance. This is because a change in the team’s composition is imminent, with some players set to depart. The board does not seem to be contemplating Maynard’s dismissal. If they were, I believe they would have acted by now. It seems they are inclined to give Maynard more time. They hired him for a reason, and I don’t think the poor results can be attributed solely to him. The players have lost their way, and the team is in a slump. However, I remain hopeful that Maynard can turn things around by making necessary improvements to the squad.
  3. Jim O’Brien could be a fantastic coach, but I don’t believe another season as a player would be beneficial for the club. That said, we do miss his experience and attitude at times, such as in the match against MK Dons. The club should aim to find a similar, but younger, player. John Bostock - Despite his poor performance, I would keep him. His salary is a factor, but I believe he could return to his best with Matt Palmer in the team and stronger players around him. Richard Brindley - He’s a good player, but I don’t think he fits our system. I’m not a fan of him playing as a centre back, even though he’s done a decent job at times. He should be playing more frequently, and his career might be better elsewhere. So, I would release him. Tobi Adebayo-Rowling - I like him, but his personality doesn’t match his ability. He’s not great defensively and overall, he’s not exactly a threat. So, I would release him. Aden Baldwin - I would offer him a rolling one-year deal. He’s a good defender and could partner with someone more adept at dealing with the opposition. Cedwyn Scott - I would offer him a three-year deal. He has been missed. Geraldo Bajrami - I would release him. David McGoldrick - I would release him. Adam Chicksen - If he could play more and maintain his form, I would offer him a one-year deal. However, I’m more inclined to say that we could do better. So, I would release him. Sam Slocombe - I would release him. Connell Rawlinson - He’s a good defender at times and a great guy, but we need someone with more speed and awareness. So, I would release him. Dan Crowley - I would offer him a two-year deal. He’s a good player and would benefit from a stronger squad. Matt Palmer - He’s a great player. A three-year deal would be excellent from a fan’s perspective, even with his injury. Aaron Nemane - I would offer him a new two-year deal, but he needs stronger competition. Kyle Cameron - He can be a great player. I think he and Baldwin show enough promise to think a solid defender could bring out the best in him. I would offer him a one-year deal. Will Randall - I would release him. Sam Austin and Jodi Jones both need to be offered a two-year deal. They’re very good players, around whom Notts could build. Aidan Stone - He isn’t good enough to be the number one and hasn’t shown any signs of being able to retain the position for the long term. So, I would release him.
  4. The team must function as a unit. We launch attacks collectively, but our defence is often disorganised. It’s simple to pinpoint errors, but there’s a lack of quick reaction to prevent the recurring mistakes that Notts commit. MK Dons wouldn’t have been close to a point had there been more awareness in the game. I heard numerous complaints about the defence that led to their first goal, but it was an excellent piece of play. I believe we allow too much space behind the ball, with players content to leave the defending to those ahead of the ball, which is part of the problem we encounter. However, there was nothing that the goalkeeper could have done about it and defensively, you have to accept these types of goals. The second goal for MK Dons was a bit unfortunate due to the deflection and bounce of the ball. However, there was a lack of defending and their third goal was extremely straightforward considering their player was clean through. Notts should show resilience in getting back into the game.
  5. Stuart Maynard has contributed to strengthening the defence, but there are some players who can’t be coached or instructed on the field. Yes, some managers can maximise their players’ potential, but it’s not as straightforward for a newcomer without a professional background. The only real solution to this problem is to recruit better defenders. It could be one intelligent defender who makes a difference alongside Kyle Cameron and Aden Baldwin. Alternatively, more defenders could be added, but I believe the wing backs and midfield need to fulfil their defensive duties. The goals in the video depict a disoriented Notts County, which is hard to overcome when you’re playing on Saturday, midweek, and then Saturday again.
  6. I didn’t realise that Sven was a Liverpool supporter. Out of all the teams he could have managed, Liverpool didn’t come to mind. It’s lovely to see such an uplifting story that brings a smile to someone who has contributed so much to football. It would be truly special if all of his former clubs united to honour his memory.
  7. I’m hoping there won’t be many alterations to the team. Despite the loss, they put up a good fight and until Scott Robertson was sent off against Crawley, the game seemed to be in our favour. Sam Slocombe has proven his worth in the team, standing out with some crucial saves. Will Charlie Colkett get a chance? We haven’t seen much of him during his loan period here. I agree that Sam Austin has been excellent since joining the side. Most of the team picks itself, so I guess one of the current issues is the lack of robust replacements in certain areas.
  8. I believe VAR needs to be controlled efficiently from behind the scenes, where decisions can be relayed quickly based on what they observe, allowing the officials to apply the rules correctly. The problem is, many officials seem hesitant to make quick decisions and spend too much time near the screens, causing further delays in the game.
  9. Barrow appeared strong when they were able to create opportunities or control the game. I don’t blame them for their hard work as each player contributed significantly, showcasing their potential. Regrettably, we also saw the less appealing side of their game when they began to lose control. Their players became very aggressive and argumentative, often crowding around the referee. This behaviour doesn’t reflect well on a Football League club. However, when they focused on playing football, they were impressive. I thought Notts should have pushed harder for a second goal.
  10. It’s heartening to hear that all the players are making steady progress. We must remember that their return will depend on their readiness, and this can change. Seeing them back in the gym and on the pitch will be a more significant indicator of their recovery. Some might not reach this stage until the season’s end, but that’s okay. Despite the uncertainties, it’s reassuring that the medical staff have addressed this.
  11. It’s wonderful to see a young lad given an opportunity and then a professional contract. That’s exactly what we, as fans, want to see. The ball is now in James Sanderson’s court. I hope he seizes any opportunities that come his way. He appears to be a unique talent.
  12. It seems highly likely that there won’t be much change. We might alter formations during games, but it appears that the starting approach will be what we’re familiar with. This makes sense as it provides Notts with ample space to advance. I just hope we limit the number of times we attempt to play out from the back. It’s not productive when nerves kick in and teams capitalise on this. I’m confident that Stuart Maynard will improve things defensively.
  13. Hello, welcome to the site @Michelle Evans. I wish you well and hope that you join in with us when you have the time to visit.
  14. Hello, @Thomas Cotton. Welcome! I wish you all the best and hope to see you join in.
  15. The main point is that we had someone like Jim O’Brien who could step in when needed. We can trust him, even though some fans think he should retire and say things about him that aren’t needed. It’s good for the club to have someone like him who’s willing to do whatever it takes. This article really shows what kind of person Jim is. It’s not about him, it’s about the club. He’s not picking his friends, he’s doing what he thinks is best for Notts County. That’s something to admire.
  16. I’d rather see Richard Brindley start ahead of Connell Rawlinson, but apart from that, I think the lineup looks good. I have no problem with the team Jim O’Brien chose for the match against Grimsby Town. As the match is at home, Notts should perform better defensively. Even though Stockport County could be tougher than Mansfield Town, I believe Notts will step up to the challenge and deliver a strong performance. Regardless of the outcome, I expect the match to be closely contested. We should have beaten them at their ground.
  17. Unfortunate Forest fans hoped for a point deduction for Everton, only to face one themselves. This was predicted by FourFourTwo on their YouTube channel 10 days ago. Manchester City escaping punishment seems odd. In my view, a 10-point penalty will likely relegate Nottingham Forest. Everton should manage to stay up.
  18. The women’s team embodies all that Notts County aspires to, led by a captain who’s a devoted Notts fan. It’s hard not to wish them success. Plus, it’s reasonably priced football that’s fantastic for fans of all ages.
