  1. Hello @lucy80! Delighted to have you with us. Let’s make some great memories together on the Pride of Nottingham!
  2. The sales are crucial for the club’s expansion, so achieving over 5.6k is quite remarkable. The funds gathered are evidently being ploughed back into the team and various initiatives, making it all the more significant to support it. If we can turn Meadow Lane into a stronghold and deliver enjoyable performances, like at the start of the previous season, it will only bring rewards. It would be lovely to have a successful cup run, a way for the players to give back to the fans. A memorable journey in the FA or League Cup would be splendid. The matches against Liverpool, Sunderland, Fulham, and Manchester City are still cherished.
  3. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @Pies79! We’re glad you’re here. Let’s cheer on the Magpies together!

  5. In my view, the shirt is a matter of personal preference, you either adore it, or you don’t. I fall into the latter category, but I reckon most who initially don’t like it will warm up to it before long. I believe the shirt should be white with black stripes, and the stripes should start a bit higher up. I’m fond of the badge’s position, and the red sponsorship doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t seem out of place to me, and I can easily overlook it. My only gripe is that there’s a substantial amount of black, which isn’t the best colour to be so prominent. I’m not implying that I find it unattractive, it’s just that my personal preferences make me less fond of it.
  6. Hello, there! Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @Bertinez. Good to be welcoming another new member. Don't be afraid to dip your toes into our discussions.
  7. Hello, @BiggestPieInGlasgow. A warm welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. It’s wonderful to have you here.
  8. It’s all very encouraging to read about, I believe PON will go from strength to strength. It’s firmly rooted in a love for the club, and that passion really says a lot. The aim is to get sensible fans involved and interacting. There’s already a broad presence, which is quite impressive. I’m eager to lend a hand with the structure and organisation of the site. Volunteering for something that’s important and you’re passionate about can make a world of difference.
  9. I’m afraid Luca Ashby-Hammond might not be the solution we’re looking for. While there’s room for him to improve, I believe Sam Slocombe or Aiden Stone could be better choices. Notts could do with a stronger option, ideally promoting Tiernan Brooks to the second choice. It would be beneficial to play individuals in their natural positions, rather than insisting they take on roles they’re unfamiliar with. As for defenders, the need for them largely depends on who leaves at the end of the season. I believe having two robust centre backs could make a significant difference. Additionally, more encouragement for Lewis Macari to reach his potential would be beneficial.
  10. There are many positive aspects to consider. However, it’s crucial for Stuart Maynard to improve his performance, especially if he plans to stay for the next season. Personally, I don’t believe the board will let him go. Our options for attack are quite impressive. With the right recruitment, the team can be further strengthened. Just maintaining our position in the Football League is an achievement in itself.
  11. With only five matches remaining in the season, it appears highly unlikely that Stuart Maynard will be dismissed due to the team’s poor performance. This is because a change in the team’s composition is imminent, with some players set to depart. The board does not seem to be contemplating Maynard’s dismissal. If they were, I believe they would have acted by now. It seems they are inclined to give Maynard more time. They hired him for a reason, and I don’t think the poor results can be attributed solely to him. The players have lost their way, and the team is in a slump. However, I remain hopeful that Maynard can turn things around by making necessary improvements to the squad.
  12. I’m uncertain if the club could draw offers exceeding 1.5 million. I suspect it might be significantly lower with additional conditions such as extra money after a certain number of appearances and goals. That being said, I’m not concerned that Macaulay Langstaff would want to leave, nor do I think Jodi Jones would. Both appear quite satisfied and loyal. Being settled provides them with a lot of stability, and I can only see either of them leaving if the right club approaches them. Jodi’s injury problems might discourage more appealing teams.
  13. Jim O’Brien could be a fantastic coach, but I don’t believe another season as a player would be beneficial for the club. That said, we do miss his experience and attitude at times, such as in the match against MK Dons. The club should aim to find a similar, but younger, player. John Bostock - Despite his poor performance, I would keep him. His salary is a factor, but I believe he could return to his best with Matt Palmer in the team and stronger players around him. Richard Brindley - He’s a good player, but I don’t think he fits our system. I’m not a fan of him playing as a centre back, even though he’s done a decent job at times. He should be playing more frequently, and his career might be better elsewhere. So, I would release him. Tobi Adebayo-Rowling - I like him, but his personality doesn’t match his ability. He’s not great defensively and overall, he’s not exactly a threat. So, I would release him. Aden Baldwin - I would offer him a rolling one-year deal. He’s a good defender and could partner with someone more adept at dealing with the opposition. Cedwyn Scott - I would offer him a three-year deal. He has been missed. Geraldo Bajrami - I would release him. David McGoldrick - I would release him. Adam Chicksen - If he could play more and maintain his form, I would offer him a one-year deal. However, I’m more inclined to say that we could do better. So, I would release him. Sam Slocombe - I would release him. Connell Rawlinson - He’s a good defender at times and a great guy, but we need someone with more speed and awareness. So, I would release him. Dan Crowley - I would offer him a two-year deal. He’s a good player and would benefit from a stronger squad. Matt Palmer - He’s a great player. A three-year deal would be excellent from a fan’s perspective, even with his injury. Aaron Nemane - I would offer him a new two-year deal, but he needs stronger competition. Kyle Cameron - He can be a great player. I think he and Baldwin show enough promise to think a solid defender could bring out the best in him. I would offer him a one-year deal. Will Randall - I would release him. Sam Austin and Jodi Jones both need to be offered a two-year deal. They’re very good players, around whom Notts could build. Aidan Stone - He isn’t good enough to be the number one and hasn’t shown any signs of being able to retain the position for the long term. So, I would release him.
  14. Usually, press conferences take place on a Wednesday or Thursday, and sometimes it’s up to the reporters rather than the club itself. However, since Notts’ form has declined, their media team has delayed them. The club should continue to operate as usual, as deviating from this only diminishes the openness and unity that the club emphasised at the beginning of this season.
  15. The shirt appears very nice, though the font used for the numbers is quite unsatisfactory. I don’t believe this was done intentionally. What would be the point of that? I attribute it to a simple mistake, human error.
  16. The team must function as a unit. We launch attacks collectively, but our defence is often disorganised. It’s simple to pinpoint errors, but there’s a lack of quick reaction to prevent the recurring mistakes that Notts commit. MK Dons wouldn’t have been close to a point had there been more awareness in the game. I heard numerous complaints about the defence that led to their first goal, but it was an excellent piece of play. I believe we allow too much space behind the ball, with players content to leave the defending to those ahead of the ball, which is part of the problem we encounter. However, there was nothing that the goalkeeper could have done about it and defensively, you have to accept these types of goals. The second goal for MK Dons was a bit unfortunate due to the deflection and bounce of the ball. However, there was a lack of defending and their third goal was extremely straightforward considering their player was clean through. Notts should show resilience in getting back into the game.
  17. Stuart Maynard has contributed to strengthening the defence, but there are some players who can’t be coached or instructed on the field. Yes, some managers can maximise their players’ potential, but it’s not as straightforward for a newcomer without a professional background. The only real solution to this problem is to recruit better defenders. It could be one intelligent defender who makes a difference alongside Kyle Cameron and Aden Baldwin. Alternatively, more defenders could be added, but I believe the wing backs and midfield need to fulfil their defensive duties. The goals in the video depict a disoriented Notts County, which is hard to overcome when you’re playing on Saturday, midweek, and then Saturday again.
  18. Notts is demonstrating brave support by not succumbing to the pressure from fans who want Stuart Maynard out. His appointment hasn’t been straightforward. On paper, it seemed perfect, but football doesn’t always unfold like a fairytale. I believe the club’s media team needs to tone down the hype at times. Personally, I feel this has fostered some negative feelings towards Maynard, mainly due to his background and his previous role as a technician at BT. It’s easy to point the finger and declare he’s not up to the task. I think the club will give him the chance to prepare and kick off the next season. The key point will be to address our shortcomings, which can’t be further improved with training or tactics. Having genuine depth and quality in all areas would indicate change. Not much is needed, just more refinement and better quality. The squad being short doesn’t help.
  19. I didn’t realise that Sven was a Liverpool supporter. Out of all the teams he could have managed, Liverpool didn’t come to mind. It’s lovely to see such an uplifting story that brings a smile to someone who has contributed so much to football. It would be truly special if all of his former clubs united to honour his memory.
  20. Supporting Notts for 57 years is a remarkable accomplishment, demonstrating both loyalty and commitment. I’m pleased you’ve returned. Your influence and conversational abilities are much needed on this site.
  21. The club has embarked on an ambitious project, but I believe they can make it work. Having a central fan zone is a fantastic idea, and I don’t think it will significantly affect other businesses. It simply means that other places will be less crowded. I’m looking forward to its unveiling. It would have been an excellent spot to celebrate our promotion last season.
  22. I’m hoping there won’t be many alterations to the team. Despite the loss, they put up a good fight and until Scott Robertson was sent off against Crawley, the game seemed to be in our favour. Sam Slocombe has proven his worth in the team, standing out with some crucial saves. Will Charlie Colkett get a chance? We haven’t seen much of him during his loan period here. I agree that Sam Austin has been excellent since joining the side. Most of the team picks itself, so I guess one of the current issues is the lack of robust replacements in certain areas.
  23. I’m only acquainted with one person here, so I feel a bit on the outskirts, but numerous members have given me a warm welcome. This welcoming attitude is clearly ingrained in the existing community, but it can still be intimidating for newcomers. You need to keep an open mind, as there’s a learning curve when using any website, and I believe it’s worth persevering here. The team members I’ve interacted with have all been fantastic. I aspire to become fully integrated within the community and will do my part to make that happen.
  24. Stuart Maynard performed admirably at Wealdstone. Many people are quick to criticise their defence, but they operate on a highly competitive budget, which is only enhanced by their success in competing with teams that have much more to offer players. Therefore, I can understand why we recruited him and I believe it's worth trying to weather this particularly rough patch. It's more than just a minor setback at the moment, but that doesn't mean Maynard can't turn things around. Let's be clear, I am ambitious, but I think the course this season has taken warrants reflection. We started off very brightly and have been affected in many ways, through injuries, the loss of Luke Williams, match officials, leading to fan trouble, and much more. Dismissing a manager at this stage could lead to further defeats itself, as people take time to settle in and to understand the talent they have. Considering all these issues existed before Maynard, I am more inclined to think that they will also follow him if he is dismissed. It's important to sometimes stand by your head coach. I think Steve Cooper and Forest are a good example. They looked destined to be relegated, and while Maynard hasn't yet earned promotion here, he has with Wealdstone, so I can see the similarities with him stepping up into a more competitive division.
  25. I sincerely hope you read this. As a newcomer to the site and someone trying to take on a role that benefits the community, I naturally want to check in and see if you’re alright? Secondly, I wish you a swift recovery to the best health possible, @Piethagoram. I hope your discomfort subsides and that you can move about freely. The only pain you should be feeling right now is related to Notts. Take care!
