  1. Stuart Maynard seems like a good appointment on paper. Everything about him suggests that he can fit right into the club and carry on where Luke Williams left off, with help from Jim O’Brien. He speaks well, and I don’t think I’ll get tired of listening to him. But he’s not quite on Luke’s level, is he? I’ll miss that but I’m looking forward to hearing more from Stuart.
  2. Whatever’s happening at Forest Green Rovers, it’s a mess. I don’t get why they would appoint Troy Deeney. It’s disappointing that he was sacked so soon.
  3. I think the show’s been quite good so far, but the tasks could be better. More mystery would make it more interesting. The players are all different, and some of the better ones left early. Some traitors were easy to spot but they’ve managed to vote off those who suspected them. I can see two players who are out of the spotlight trying to set up the lad who everyone supports by making others doubt him.
  4. The main point is that we had someone like Jim O’Brien who could step in when needed. We can trust him, even though some fans think he should retire and say things about him that aren’t needed. It’s good for the club to have someone like him who’s willing to do whatever it takes. This article really shows what kind of person Jim is. It’s not about him, it’s about the club. He’s not picking his friends, he’s doing what he thinks is best for Notts County. That’s something to admire.
  5. This is a great step for Notts, as Tiernan Brooks needs experience in English football. No disrespect to the standard of Ireland, but the level of the National League is consistent enough with what we might anticipate. It’s far better than seeing talent dispatched to teams in the North or South League or lower.
  6. Jodi Jones is a fantastic talent to observe, he always seemed exceptional during his time at Coventry. Whenever we faced them, he would tear us apart and now that he’s at Meadow Lane, it’s just thrilling to see how he performs.
  7. Delighted to see this! I believe these new additions will significantly contribute to transforming the Notts County Women’s team into a powerhouse. The setup is worth investing in, with coaches to maximise the potential of young talent in local areas.
  8. Tough luck for them, a 1-0 loss isn’t a terrible outcome and I’m confident the Notts women will bounce back with a determination to rise in the league.
  9. Hello, @Harry Buckley. The Magpies is a family club and you will love being a part of it. Welcome to PON.
  10. Thank you for all the warm welcome messages. I’m thrilled to be part of such a friendly Notts community.
  11. Ben Barclay was on loan with us in 2019, then he joined Stockport County in 2021. He had two loan periods at Yeovil and Carlisle before he became a permanent player for Carlisle United.
  12. I’d rather see Richard Brindley start ahead of Connell Rawlinson, but apart from that, I think the lineup looks good. I have no problem with the team Jim O’Brien chose for the match against Grimsby Town. As the match is at home, Notts should perform better defensively. Even though Stockport County could be tougher than Mansfield Town, I believe Notts will step up to the challenge and deliver a strong performance. Regardless of the outcome, I expect the match to be closely contested. We should have beaten them at their ground.
  13. The scandal at the Post Office is a shocking tale. Fujitsu should take responsibility, pay up, and let this matter finally come to a close. They share as much blame as anyone else. It’s unacceptable to ruin people’s lives over software errors and expect it to reflect positively on your company.
  14. I have a Samsung Z Fold2, an Android mobile. I’ve owned it since roughly 2021, having acquired it shortly after its launch. My network provider is EE and I don’t intend to upgrade until the phone requires replacement.
  15. I’ve got nothing to say about Forest. I believe clubs should be responsible for the money they use. I hope both they and Everton are treated the same as other rule breakers. It’s going to be a hard time for both clubs, but it sends a warning about spending too much. That is, unless you can afford lawyers to keep the league authorities busy, like Manchester City.
  16. Nowadays, health and safety wouldn’t let games like that happen. When the video starts, it seems like the field has just been ploughed. It’s very risky, but things were different back then. Did anyone spot the grass?
  17. Cheers to all who’ve taken a moment to greet me. I’ll aim to be as involved in the forum as my time allows. I’m thrilled to join the Pride of Nottingham. I look forward to seeing the results of everyone’s hard work.
  18. We’ve got two new players, but no centre back yet. Maybe the club thinks the new manager will alter the formation? I’d like a CB to join, but it might take time. Luca Ashby Hammond might have to wait for his debut, but I hope it proves his signing was wise. Otherwise, it could end up like the Ollie Tipton territory.
  19. Unfortunate Forest fans hoped for a point deduction for Everton, only to face one themselves. This was predicted by FourFourTwo on their YouTube channel 10 days ago. Manchester City escaping punishment seems odd. In my view, a 10-point penalty will likely relegate Nottingham Forest. Everton should manage to stay up.
  20. Changes are often appreciated when they prioritise content and ease of use. Judging by the feedback, this seems to have been accomplished. Unnecessary changes just for the sake of change are universally disliked.
  21. It took time to find a CEO to succeed the much-missed Jason Turner. I’m sure Christoffer and Alexander Reedtz hoped Luke Williams would stay longer. While they must consider potential replacements, having a list doesn’t guarantee they’re viable for the club. Despite our better position, there’s no guarantee. A manager might be loyal to their current club, or in Morten Dahm Kjaergaard’s case, the delay might be due to the move. I’m sure everything will be thought out. If I were to apply as a manager, I’d love to work with our current squad. I wouldn’t mind MDK or Stuart Maynard. Ideally, Maynard, due to his success with Wealdstone. He reminds me of Neil Warnock, just waiting for a chance to manage a league team. Andrew Croft, Matt Gill, Scott Lindsey don’t appeal to me. I hope we avoid them as they lack the character we’ve seen in previous appointments.
  22. The women’s team embodies all that Notts County aspires to, led by a captain who’s a devoted Notts fan. It’s hard not to wish them success. Plus, it’s reasonably priced football that’s fantastic for fans of all ages.
  23. Hello, I’ve joined Pride of Nottingham to concentrate on content and I’m keen to get to know the community better. I’ve been a Notts supporter my whole life, born in 1993. My real name’s Gavin, but you can call me Gav or True Magpie, whichever you prefer. I went to my first game in 1996, when I was just three. As for PON, I’ve been a long-time reader and active on social media. I was asked yesterday to consider this role, as it’s similar to my job, and I happily agreed. Gav, True Magpie.
