Martin Paterson on Newport County Test: “We’re Ready, But It’s About Performance, Not Hype”
Some managers say all the right things, but then things don’t go well and they make excuses. It happens a lot. I don’t think Martin Paterson will be like that. He talks clearly and seems to know what he’s doing. I just hope he gets the best out of the players. I also hope fans give him time and don’t turn on him too fast.

Jodi Jones in the AMC Role
I agree, we don’t want to lose Jodi Jones again. If we move him to a better spot where he can score more goals, that could be exciting. There’ll be loads of players trying to win that place like Will Jarvis, Kellan Gordon, Nick Tsaroulla, and Keanan Bennetts. Giving JJ a bigger role makes sense, but he might not get the ball much unless we’re going forward.

Luton's Luker to Notts
I’m not sure how much game time Tom Iorpenda will get with the first team. It’s good to have players fighting for spots, but having too many in the same place doesn’t always help. Some fans moan, but we’ve got enough midfielders already.

Keanan Bennetts to Notts.
He seems like a decent player. I think it's worth taking a chance on him. He could do well and get sold for more money later, or maybe stay and become a proper part of the Notts team.

PiesPlayer early bird deadline 2 August
The price for the match streams isn't too bad. It's not the same as watching Notts play live, but fans who live outside the UK might find it really useful. I wonder how many people will get the full bundle, or just pay for the games they want.

Adam Hassell
I’ve only heard his voice when he’s doing interviews. I think he sounds alright and he doesn’t bother me. I don’t usually listen to the radio commentary, but I might try it this season if I can’t go to the matches.

Where's All The Money Gone?
The club really needs money so it can buy good players and pay off the money it owes. If we keep losing money, that’s not something the club can keep doing. If we spend money wisely and only pay the right amount for players, I’m fine with signing free players too. They can still help the team. We can't spend loads of money every season, like £300,000 or £500,000. Some years we have to be more careful.

New keeper signs
Kelle Roos looked alright once the team got into the game against Cardiff. But before that, in the warm-up, he caught everything and seemed like a really good goalie. You need someone like him at our level. Alex Bass was more like a treat to have, but he was really good. I think Roos can be just as strong for us. I liked how the fans welcomed him.

Is there something wrong with our club?
I don’t think it’s time to worry during pre-season. I’ve seen us play well in these games before but then do badly in the actual season. And sometimes when pre-season has been rough, we’ve ended up doing better. The club feels like it’s in a good place now, and that should help us. I do think Notts fans get too worried sometimes, but this chat makes sense.

Who Needs to Step Up for Notts This Season?
Conor Grant is someone fans think should play better more often. He doesn’t always do well and needs to be more steady when he’s on the pitch. I think Nick Tsaroulla could be a good player, but he’s not in the team very much. I’m not sure why, because when he does play, he looks alright. Kellan Gordon is tricky. He’s got the skills, but most of the time he lets people down. He doesn’t play the same every week and needs to be more reliable.

Lewis Macari
I like Lewis Macari, but I think he needs to be honest and take whatever happens. He shouldn’t have gambled, even if he didn’t really know what he was doing at the time. It’s good he hasn’t done it since coming to our club, but he still took a big risk with his career. It won’t help us if he gets banned, even if it’s only for a short time. I really hope he doesn’t have a gambling problem and was just being a bit silly.

Weekly Chat - Monday 14th to Sunday 20th July
School felt like it went on forever today. When I got home, I had to do three bits of homework. I had to carry on with it after tea, and now I’ve only got a little bit of time before I need to go to bed for tomorrow. I wish I had more time, but that’s just how it is.

Paterson post Stuttgart
I think Martin Paterson is just as cool as Luke Williams, but he’s different. He talks in a way that makes you listen and pay attention. Ian Burchnall used to make me feel sleepy when he spoke. Stuart Maynard was okay, but sometimes he said the same sort of stuff and it got a bit boring. Paterson is doing a good job, and I hope the club spends some money now. It would help the team and make things better for him.

Burton Albion under FA investigation
I really wish they would say what the charges are properly. It could be anything, and fans should be told right away when it’s announced. They don’t have to explain every little thing, just give us a clear idea of what’s going on. That way, people aren’t left guessing.

Didzy joins Barnsley
It could end up being a good thing that he moved on, but I think the way he left did set the mood for some of the disappointment. It might have been better handled between him and the club so there was no room for gossip. People who believe our budget will shrink, or that the owners aren’t willing to spend more, should understand it’s clearly part of trying to make the club more self-sufficient and financially stable. Not having to pay McGoldrick’s wage might mean we can bring in two other players instead. It all depends, really, but I do hope he does well wherever he goes.

Match Discussion: Stuttgarter Kickers v Notts County
If things aren’t going well, I hope Martin Paterson has the courage to change the formation. Playing out from the back needs the right set-up, and sticking to three centre backs might not work every time. In past seasons we didn’t have much choice, but this time we’ve got the players to switch to four at the back. It could help the team play with more balance and control.
