Yes we had one of those, the chips seemed to taste better too. Happy memories of home made chips cooked in a chip pan on the gas cooker. My mam also used to buy peas in the pod from the greengrocer, I used to love getting the peas out and eating a few raw ones as I went along. I bet kids today have never seen fresh peas in the pod.

It’s hard for me to pick a man of the match because I wasn’t at the match and it wasn’t on telly so I can only go by what I heard on the radio. I was really pleased for Dennis when he scored the goal, I think it’s our first from open play, so I’ll give him my vote. Apologies if I’ve got that completely wrong and he had a shocker for the rest of the game.

I don’t think you can blame one person or one department, it’s a combination of things which is letting the club down at the moment. The owners have shown lack of foresight, they’ve allowed our best players to leave, they have implemented a system (Technical Board) which has meant the position of coach was unappealing to experienced coaches who might have applied. The recruitment team (dof) haven’t replaced the players who have left with the equivalent. Last seasons squad has been gutted and new players brought in who haven’t (as yet) proved to be as good let alone an improvement. The coach and coaching staff haven’t managed to get the players at their disposal to play to their instructions. The players have failed to implement what they are taught on the training pitch when it matters on matchday. It’s early days admittedly and we shouldn’t lose faith just yet, things can change very quickly in football, however early signs aren’t good.

Admittedly I didn’t see the game and only listened on the radio but from what I heard there was very little in the way of positives to take from this game. At least Dennis is off the mark I suppose but the overall performance wasn’t good enough to secure a point let alone three. I try to remain positive but even I am getting a little concerned, the next two home matches are crucial, we need a win preferably two. I do hope it’s not going to be a season of struggle.
