Notts County's youth team travelled to Lincoln on Saturday to play their Imps counterparts at the Priory City Lincoln Academy. As a venue name it's decent enough, but it cannot compare with the venue for the last two visits which were at Lincoln United's Sun Hat Villas Stadium - that's what you call a stadium name. Notts began the game with an unchanged team after their 2-1 win over Scunthorpe and facing into a strong breeze. The Magpies were dealt an early blow when centre-back RUpdated by Joe Jones

Rob Milsom has admitted that he was disappointed and frustrated to not be playing for Notts County earlier in the season, but a positive conversation with manager Kevin Nolan changed his outlook. The 2016-17 Notts player of the year found opportunities hard to come by earlier in the season, being mostly restricted to a substitute's role. Milsom went on to make his first start in the 1-0 win over Swindon Town and kept his place for the win at Crawley Town by the same scoreline. FolAdded by Joe Jones

Alan Hardy has expressed his hopes of seeing Notts County repeat the heroics against Brentford in knocking Swansea City out of the FA Cup at the fourth-round stage. The Magpies have done superbly in the competition, seeing off two higher-league teams in the Bees and Bristol Rovers, plus a banana skin in non-league Oxford City, to find themselves up against the Premier League side. The Magpies are edging closer to sealing a playoff place, which would extend their campaign beyond the standard 46 games - although automatic promotion is still a possibility. Four league games remain for Notts, with Colchester United first up at the Weston Community Homes Stadium, and Nolan spoke at length about what is coming up for his team. “Added by Joe Jones

The forthcoming game on Tuesday is of paramount importance. However, Luke Williams has voiced concerns over the team’s recent performance, particularly the lacklustre display in the last 45 minutes of their previous match against AFC Wimbledon. The team, which Williams firmly believes has the potential to stand toe-to-toe with any adversary, seemed to lack the necessary urgency. This was a source of frustration for the coach, especially given the team’s struggle against a side that was onUpdated by Chris

Michael O'Connor has said he cannot guarantee avoiding a suspension for reaching 10 yellow cards because of his combative nature on the pitch. The Notts County captain is currently on nine bookings and, should he earn another before March 12, he will be slapped with a two-match ban. Richard Duffy will be sitting out the next two fixtures due to this and, despite O'Connor admitting he needs to be careful, he does not want let the ban put him off his style of play. Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley has admitted that Notts County will be a tough proposition on Saturday, with Kevin Nolan having learned the ropes from Sam Allardyce. The Imps, promoted from the National League last season, head to Meadow Lane to face a Magpies team boasting a four-match winning streak and no goals conceded in that spell. Compared to the Notts of last year, who endured a dismal 10-match losing run midway through the season, the current squad is a different proposition, aAdded by Joe Jones

Jorge Grant has paid tribute to Notts County strikers Jon Stead and Shola Ameobi following their 3-1 win over Cheltenham Town on Saturday. The midfielder took his tally for the season to 13 with his fourth brace of the season, with Shaun Brisley adding a third to keep the Magpies top of League Two. Notts County have been boosted by the return of Jon Stead for the trip to face Colchester United on Saturday. The 35-year-old, who triggered an extension this week which will see him with the Magpies for another season, missed the win over Coventry City. Winger Terry Hawkridge will also be available after being sidelined through a knock to allow Nolan more firepower at his disposal. “Jon trained on Thursday and the couple of days before that,” Nolan told the Nottingham Post. “He’sUpdated by Joe Jones

Notts County defender Dion Kelly-Evans has agreed new terms with the magpies. The popular 24-year-old is the last of the remaining players offered a new deal on the back of last seasons campaign. Speculation had grown over his future, however, Notts has today confirmed that Kelly-Evans has agreed a new one-year-deal at Meadow Lane. As the dust settled on the pitch, the stark reality of Notts County’s performance began to sink in. Once a formidable force, the team seemed to have lost its spark. The match had kicked off amidst great anticipation, but swiftly spiralled into a series of squandered chances and defensive lapses. The echo of the final whistle served as a stark reminder of the tough road ahead. Following the Magpies’ disheartening 4-2 loss to AFC Wimbledon, the air was thick with disappointment. Rob Milsom has played down Notts County's impressive start to the season by giving a reminder of what happened in the previous campaign. The Magpies currently sit second in League Two, boast an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions, and have won - and not conceded in - the last four league outings. However, Milsom cast an eye back to last season, when Notts also enjoyed a bright start - sitting sixth in the table in October having claimed an impressive 2-1 win at Portsmouth - befAdded by Joe Jones

Notts were much better in the second half as Jorge Grant spurned several chances before veteran striker Jon Stead turned home on the hour to clinch a replay at the Liberty Stadium.
