Match Report: Dan Crowley Double Seals Notts County's 4-1 Triumph Against Grimsby Town

PON_News

Notts County put on a dominant display at Meadow Lane, securing a convincing 4-1 victory over Grimsby Town.

The Magpies took control of the match early on and never looked back, delighting the home fans with a performance full of attacking flair and clinical finishing.

The match kicked off with both sides eager to make an impact, but it was Notts County who struck first. Just six minutes into the game, Alassana Jatta found himself perfectly positioned to convert a cross from Dan Crowley, tapping the ball home from close range to give the Magpies an early lead.

Grimsby Town struggled to contain Notts County’s relentless attacking pressure, and it wasn’t long before the home side doubled their advantage. In the 15th minute, Dan Crowley got his name on the scoresheet, finishing off a well-worked corner routine. Jodi Jones delivered an inviting cross into the box, which Crowley met with a precise left-footed strike to make it 2-0.

Notts County’s dominance continued throughout the first half, and they added a third goal just before the break. In the 45th minute, Jodi Jones produced a moment of individual brilliance, curling a right-footed shot into the top left corner after receiving a pass from Jatta. The goal capped off a superb first half for the Magpies, who went into the interval with a commanding 3-1 lead.

Grimsby Town managed to pull one back in first-half stoppage time through Harvey Rodgers. The defender found the back of the net with a right-footed shot from close range, following a headed pass from Lewis Cass after a set-piece situation. However, this proved to be little more than a consolation as Notts County remained in control.

The second half saw the visitors attempting to mount a comeback, but Notts County’s defence stood firm, and the hosts continued to threaten on the counter-attack. Grimsby Town had a few chances, but their efforts were either blocked or off target, with Charles Vernam and Kieran Green both coming close without success.

Notts County put the game beyond doubt in the 57th minute when Dan Crowley scored his second goal of the match. Crowley, who was a constant threat throughout the game, found space in the box and fired a right-footed shot into the top left corner, leaving Grimsby’s goalkeeper with no chance.

The remainder of the match saw Notts County manage the game effectively, with substitutions providing fresh legs to maintain their dominance. Cedwyn Scott and David McGoldrick both had opportunities to extend the lead further, but their efforts missed the target.

Despite Grimsby Town’s attempts to get back into the match, Notts County’s defence held firm, and the Magpies saw out the game to secure a well-deserved 4-1 victory. The win maintains their strong position in the league and will boost confidence ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

Notts County’s fans will be thrilled with the performance, which showcased their team’s attacking prowess and resilience. As the final whistle blew, Meadow Lane erupted in celebration, with the home side having delivered a performance to remember.

most enjoyable 90 minutes watching notts i have seen, i dont remember the last time we played with such control and authority over a team. grimsby looked okay when attacking, defensively a shambles and their keeper looked awful. so pleased that we earned our first 3 points of the season, i hope more good performances are to come. its good to see stuart maynard enjoying a solid win too.

It was a very convincing win. If we play like this against more teams, our season should pick up. I thought Grimsby were poor, and their fans were too. They only chanted in small spells. They will complain that the referee changed the game for them, but they were just poor. So, I am pleased that we won. Curtis Edwards is everything the Woking fans said he would be when some of ours called him a squad signing. He is showing that he is more than that.

I thought Notts could have scored at least three more goals. Grimsby never looked likely to score, and to some extent, they wouldn’t have if we had defended better from the only effort they put away. They struggled against a quality Notts team that put on a great 90 minutes.

This was a fantastic performance all round by Notts. I am so pleased for Stuart Maynard too.

It is one of the best displays I have seen for along time from Notts.

Dan Crowley had a blinder, Jodi Jones was brilliant too. And don't forget Curtis Edwards, who never stopped running and was so calm on the ball.

Kudos to our defensive unit too because Grimsby were dangerous on occasions, but the back line held firm, apart from one lapse from a set piece.

I'm particularly pleased for Stuart Maynard because he inherited a side in poor form and now he has his own team after identifying the weaknesses & playing a big part in the recruitment to fix those weaknesses.

Notts need to try to keep hold of Dan and Jodi because they will attract big interest after last nights display.

Keep this side together, add a few more players and Notts could be going places this season.

What a fantastic win for Notts! The early goal by Jatta really set the stage for a marvellous display of football. Dan Crowley was undoubtedly the man of the match with his brilliant goals. It was great to see the team capitalising on their opportunities and showing clinical finishing. Grimsby struggled to cope with our relentless pressure. Even after they managed to score, our defence held firm, showing great resilience. This match will certainly boost the team’s confidence. The fans at Meadow Lane must have been overjoyed with that performance. Keeping this momentum going will be crucial for future fixtures. Let’s hope for more victories like this.

What a remarkable match that was! From the very first whistle, Notts appeared to be in total control. Jatta’s early goal was just the beginning of what turned out to be a masterclass in attacking football. Crowley’s contributions were invaluable, and his goals showcased his clinical finishing. The interplay between the players, especially during corner routines, was a joy to watch.

The defence deserves a shoutout too for their resilience. Even though Grimsby managed to pull one back before half-time, our lads kept their cool and didn’t let it affect the game’s outcome. The resilience and spirit shown in managing the second half were commendable. Substitutions were spot on, keeping the game’s rhythm intact. Overall, a fantastic team effort that will surely lift the spirits of supporters.

Absolutely brilliant performance by Notts! I was particularly impressed by the way the team kept control throughout the match. Crowley's goals were a highlight, showing his class and composure in front of the goal. Not forgetting Jatta’s opener, which really set the tone for the match. Every player seemed to know their role and executed it perfectly. This win is definitely a confidence booster for the season ahead. Can’t wait to see more of this attacking flair and solid defending in future games. Well done, Notts!

The match was a true showcase of Notts County’s attacking potential. Dan Crowley’s brace was a testament to his sharpness and positioning. The early goal by Jatta set the tone, and the team never looked back. Jones’ stunning strike right before half-time was a class act, and it effectively sealed Grimsby's fate. I have to commend the defence as well; they held firm against any threat that Grimsby tried to muster in the second half. Overall, it was a complete performance from front to back.

I thought Notts were class throughout the game. I felt very impressed that nerves never seemed to be a problem. As for Grimsby scoring, it was a consolation goal for the travelling 1,400 odd fans that took the trip on Thursday afternoon. They were pretty quiet most of the time, but that dedication to attending the fixture deserves respect.

A thoroughly enjoyable match! Notts showcased their attacking prowess with a brilliant display. Jatta’s early goal was just the beginning, and Crowley’s contributions were phenomenal. The 3-1 lead at half-time was well-earned, and despite Grimsby’s late first-half goal, the team maintained their composure. Our defence stood strong in the second half, ensuring Grimsby couldn’t mount a comeback. It’s performances like these that make you proud to be a fan. The players’ synergy was evident, and everyone played their part. This victory will no doubt boost the team’s morale. Can’t wait to see more of this attacking flair and resilience in upcoming matches. Well done, lads!

An outstanding game by Notts! The team’s ability to maintain pressure and play attacking football was a joy to watch. Grimsby had no answers for our coordinated play and strategy. The defence was also impressive, limiting Grimsby’s chances and standing strong throughout the match. The substitutions were well-timed, ensuring that the team kept its dominance on the pitch. I’m delighted with this performance and hope it sets the tone for the rest of the season. The fans deserved this win, and it’s fantastic to see such a united team effort.

Good result. I think Notts deserved the win. Grimsby might be better on a different day, but unlucky for them, they couldn’t cope against us. It was impressive to see Notts control them and limit what they could do, whilst freely scoring.

Dan Crowley was on fire! His performance was nothing short of spectacular. He controlled the game with his skill and vision, making it difficult for Grimsby to keep up. The entire team played brilliantly, showing great teamwork and determination. Grimsby simply had no answers to our relentless attacks. This win has boosted our confidence, and I am excited for the upcoming matches. If we continue to play like this, we have a great chance of achieving our goals this season.

The tempo Notts set was very high, with the chance creation and general play being very exciting to watch. Grimsby were poor in defending, but looked quite comfortable going forward. They reminded me of Notts against Tranmere, so I do think we defended better. Their goal was frustrating at the time, as it could have been a clean sheet, but it's all positives at the end of the day. I went home happy and encouraged, I can see players working well together. It would be good to see this continue, I hope it does start to become a consistent part of our game.
