However, some else is likely to be assuming the next name on the list and so therefore it's not exactly true. It's just unknown who that player will be just yet. :D

@KB1862 I watched a video on YouTube about his career, I didn't realise he had been playing for so long in the medias spotlight. I thought he had played most of his days in Japan, as I only heard of him to note after Japan's first inclusion in the world Cup.

The video also showed him training with a portuguese club and he was out skilling much younger players as if it was a walk in the park.

The status of English players playing at the highest level beyond the age of 40 is certainly interesting. While it may be less common for goalkeepers to continue playing at this age, it seems more likely for outfield players.
