Non-League Football

Featured Replies

You know I don't, although I might take up supporting Basford.

I would like to visit and attend some Alfreton games, as my dad and grandparents lived their. I wouldn't go watch Hucknall for all the tea in china, this is mainly due to some people I know who support them and I wouldn't want to see them. :P

Arnold is another possibility.

I went to Basford this season for a FA cup match. Their goal post are well bent (i have a pic somewhere). Former England and Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie is playing for them. Alfreton are very expensive at £18.

I wouldn't mind so much, I believe that they're trying to build and the progress they make is interesting.

Though I would have though tickets would be around £14 :P Still, I don't really get put off by prices. I just to balance what I can, though it looks like I'll need to reduce my Notts away days.

I know a few people who went to the same game as you, a fan called Josh shared a brilliant video of the goal.

im not even sure who is the nearest non league team to me, does clifton have a team?

The mighty Clifton All Whites! My Dad was captain there once upon a time, got an old team photo hiding away in the loft somewhere, no idea what year it would be

When I was much younger i watched Alfreton play at many away matches.I've been to Matlock's Causeway Lane ground and Heanor a lot of times not to mention Ilkeston,Belper and Arnold.Great memories.

i thought they had packed up tho, will have to check.

There was talk of it a few years ago but they kept going. Unfortunatly, we have to call them Clifton FC now. What with the politcal correctness b****ks these days, "all whites" was deemed a racist term :hyper:Β

They play in the central midlands league

I try and get down to Carlton Town when Notts aren't at home. Ian McCulloch is assistant manager. Alex Troke our former youth teamer is on fire for them this year. Decent standard of football for £8, would encourage anyone to come down to Stoke Lane!

Ex Notts players don't have get out and about managing Non League sides, I think it's a good thing because there's plenty out there who need something to do and the majority with good experience help lower teams establish themselves.

Basford are on the ups, they have a nice little ground and it keeps seeing the odd improvement.

Matlock is the only one I've really been to in past years. Normally coinsides with the wife saying shall we go for a nice walk around Matlock.Β

Yes darling I'll just park the car, but remember Matlock is difficult to park in so it might take me a while!!! (Approx 90 mins + stoppages and a bovril at half time.)
